  1. The new Rapala BX Brat is a good one. Made of balsa wood which gives it a tight wobble and the lip is pointed at the tip which helps it deflect even better.
  2. Last week the water temp was 51.. Yesterday it was 45. All fish activity was basically shut down.. When it does hit around 55 though the feed will be on like donky kong. The Robins are back and the very first few trees are starting to bud.
  3. Depends on the time of year and other variables, but we’ve caught solid bass there.
  4. I fished Plum Orchard on Wednesday water was 50-51 degrees. Caught two off of slow tapering points with a jerkbait. There were 5 or 6 other boats on the water.
  5. I bought the 74sv at Bass Pro for the sale and it came with the Lakeview HD card. The unit itself for the 73 and 74 is the exact same thing and compatible with either transducer.
  6. It came with Lakeview HD
  7. Correct me if I am wrong, but the only difference in the two units is the transducer..
  8. I bought the unit. The dealers at Bass Pro in Kodak, TN told me that although the transducer is designed for deep water that it will work just as well in shallow as the transducer that comes with the 73sv. If I ever decided to fish deeper water in the 75+ foot range that I would get a better image on sonar that I would with the 73sv transducer. I got the Lakeview HD card along with a $25.00 Bass Pro gift card. Personally, I feel good about the purchase and cannot wait to install it onto my boat.
  9. I was thinking of getting that Garmin echoMap Chirp 74sv tomorrow at Bass Pro but I fish freshwater exclusively and 99% of my bass fishing is done in 40' of water and less.... Will the 74sv work for me or is that the wrong transducer? I have $500 budgeted so I was thinking of jumping on this deal but I don't wanna spend my money on something that will not work ideally. I want something that will read good sonar, side view, and down view...
  10. It just so happens that I am going to Bass Pro this weekend. The sale starts on Friday! BOOM. Thanks for bringing it to my attention dirty.

Can someone explain this setup to me? Topwaters, search baits, and flipping cover is probably the three things that fits my wheelhouse best but fishing deep structure is one of my biggest weaknesses. How does this work? When is it presented best? Fill me in.
  12. Thats a cool deal.. i actually have about $650 to spend on a new unit but I wanna pick up the new carbonlite 2.0 rod/reel combo in 7ft heavy/fast 8:3:1 for flipping its $209.98 at Bass Pro too. Figure I can get both with the hook2 at $429
  13. Flipping you want a heavy fast with a 7:5 or 8:3 reel... swimbait I would go with a med heavy in a 6:3 reel... personally, i would use a different rod/reel setup for different presentations..
  14. I thought it was $399 before the Navonics added..
  15. Yes
  16. I'm wanting to upgrade my electronics on my boat. It is a 2007 Triton VT-17. It came with old Lowrance mounted flush in the dash. I have a budget of about $500 to spend on a new unit. I've researched plenty over the last few weeks and the one that keeps grabbing my attention is a deal I found at Bass Pro Shops (I'm going there in TN next weekend to Pigeon Forge, so I could pick it up in person) Lowrance Hook2 Tripleshot with Navonics includes GPS, Sidescan, Downscan, and Chirp for $429.99. I really want side and down scan and GPS, and with upgraded with a preloaded Navonics Card I thought this is a great unit that fit's my budget. Keep in mind any of today's units will be a considerable upgrade to my little black and white dinosaur that I currently have. Does anyone have any experience with this unit. Maybe someone in the know could fill me in on if this is a great unit that fits my need. I fish with my father a lot for leasure and I am planning on occasionally fishing a few local tournaments at the local club level.
  17. If there is a little bit of open water a Strike King Space Monkey is hard to beat too
  18. My favorite flipping and punching baits are either the Strike King Rage Bug and if it's a really really think nothing beats a Missile D-Bomb.
  19. I will be mounting at the dash of my 17' Triton Aluminum.
  20. For around $500, give or take, what is the best complete fish finder on the market? I have looked at the Lowrance Hook2 with Tripleshot Transducer for DI, SI, and Sonar, plus GPS The Garmin Striker sv7 looks good So does the Humminbird Helix series.... I'm new to the electronics game. What I really want is down imaging, sonar, and gps so I can mark waypoints for tournaments. Side-Imaging and Navonics/Lakeview would be a plus is possible. I feel a bit overwhelmed when looking at so many units in Cabelas or Bass Pro. I've tried to play around with each to see what I like the best but I just cannot decide. Can someone will a little more experience help me out lol
  21. This is fantastic advice for a noobie
  22. I just wash mine with cleaner and warm water to clean the scum off. You can get wax to restore a clouded image to a shiny image but my aluminum boat is white so I don’t bother.
  23. It isn’t Plum but your right that Plum is one of my favorite little lakes. I truely did just sketch this up from the top of my head.
  24. My spinner-bait technique is as follows... and I think I am a pretty good spinner-bait fisherman.. 1) I never throw a spinnerbait without a trailer. I use either a matching swimbait trailer or twin grub tail.. 2) Clear Water = White with Silver Willow Blades or Glimmering Blue with Silver Blades. Both will have a matching trailer. 3) Murky/Stained Water = Chartreuse or Chartreuse/White with gold Willow Blades, matching trailer 4) Muddy Water with Low Visability = Black or Chartreuse with Gold Colorado Blades, matching trailer 90% of the time I do not burn it. I slow roll it or run it just quick enough to keep it clipping the top of a submerged grass bed. I throw them all times of the year as long as water is 55 degrees or warmer and at all parts of the day. Some of my biggest bass with come on a spinner-bait. It is one of my best confidence lures. Sometimes I catch bass on them when I cannot catch them on any other lure.
  25. Let's say the creek arm is no more than 1/2 a mile
