  1. You can fish now? Lol in central jersey there is still a thin layer of ice. Over the next couple days, as it gets colder, the ice is gonna get even thicker.
  2. Also, this pond is heavily covered in vegetation. You have to use weedless lures otherwise you will always get stuck in weeds.
  3. Watermelon red flake, junebug etc.
  4. A normal bass that I usually catch in this pond would look like this
  5. So I caught this bass during the fall. It was in a local pond, where I had previously caught many bass. The thing is, is that the coloration is very different from all the other bass I have caught in this pond. Anybody got any ideas why?
  6. ASAP but the ice still hasn't melted yet.... I'm probably stuck inside for another week or so. This winter is the longest winter NJ has had in a long time... usually, the ice melts by the beginning of March.
  7. I would personally use a jerkbait or walk the dog style for those pigs in the pond.
  8. I would go with the Okuma combo. Honestly, the time and hassle you are going to put in to simply change hands is just not worth it. I have a Okuma rod, that is one step below the Helios, the c3-40x, that I am more than satisfied with. Go try out the helios and give us a review.
  9. Amazon pricing for me changes everyday. Some days I manage to get really good deals. For example, I managed to get a Okuma c3-40x rod that retailed for $170 for 60$.
  10. How is the sensitivity of the rod? It looks like a copycat of the H20 Express rods. How do they compare?
  11. For the Uni-Uni knot, the lines have to be approxiametly the same diameter. Not exactly but pretty close. I agree with Goose. If you deal with a huge carp or bass, and your braid is tied to your wiffle spool, all that tension will be placed on your reel gears. Not a good thing at all.
  12. LOL so true
  13. Nope. Ponds still covered in thin layers of ice.
  14. I agree. Usually when I fish with live bait, the panfish tear up the live bait in seconds. That's why I don't use it anymore. Unless you want to use bigger minnows or shiners, it's the reality you have to face when fishing live bait.
  15. Japan Bass are insane. Never even seen a fish half that size in NJ.
  16. I have one and love it. Especially at the price I got it at. I have the MGX version, not the newer one.
  17. Tear it down, lube it, and clean it. There are so many micro particles in the water (silt and mud), that can get trapped in your reel if you don't clean it.
  18. I fish weightless all the time and they are my "confidence" lure.
  19. Yeah the 701 right hand series. Why not heavier line? I thought heavier line was more managable than light line on baitcasters?
  20. So I just bought this reel for 39$. Anybody have it and how is it? I'm not talking about the new one, but rather the older one with the clicking start drag and spool tension.
  21. The sale just ended for the PQ.
  22. It's a real company... I use it all the time... and Case Ashely also uses their fluorocarbon.
  23. I fish watermelon flake zoom ribbontails. They have proven to me to be better then the Yum Ferocity worms, and are somewhat durable.
