I Thought I Had The Bass Of A Lifetime Haha....
Just curious, how do they taste? They look a lot like snakehead, which are pretty good cooked Asian-style.

Pond Fishing Setups
I can cast a 1/4 rooster tail fine with a 7' MH Okuma spinning rod. No need to get an ultralight. Honestly, practicing your form rather than buying new equipment will help you get more casting distance.

Usa Braid
Can anybody definitely say how many strands this braid has? I always hear Diggy and SirSnookalot complimenting it, but I first want to learn all the specs before trying it out.

Bass Fishing Knots
I only use 4 knots. Improved Clinch for mono to lure and fluoro to lure. Palomar for braid to lure. Uni to Uni and Blood knot for connecting lines together.

People Abusing Fish
On the dirt, I will bet it will greatly reduce the bass's slime layer. But on grass, I do it all the time, and have not seen any fish get hurt. In fact, I caught a fish and layed it on the grass and released it, and the next year, I caught it again, and could not view any negative effects on the slime layer.

Are The Weeds Stopping You From Fishing?
Honestly, Its not worth it fishing jigs or any subsurface bait in HEAVY algae. I guarantee you, the eye of the hook will be smothered in weeds no matter how "weedless" the lure claims to be. For lighter weeds, I agree, t rigs and topwaters are probably the way to go.

Please Help Me Pick A Baitcaster.
Where are you in Jersey btw? Im from South Brunswick. I could probably help you out with a couple good locations to fish. Now on to the reel. I would recommend upgrading your reel. Graphite reels are notorious for wearing out within a few years. I would recommend you order the H20 express reel online from Academy. It is easily the best reel in the 50$ price range. It has aluminum frame, decent amount of ball bearings, and a effective centrifugual braking system. Now onto the rod. I also wouldn't recommend cheaping out on the rod. Go get a Berkley lighting rod shock, at your local Wally World for only 39$. I go around in a Acura TSX, which is just a tiny bit bigger than your Honda Civic. I carry a 7'0 rod around in it fine. I probably could fit in a 7'6 rod if I really wanted to. I would recommend you get 7'0 rod. It is simply just a lot more versatile. Now onto the line. I would suggest NOT buying a expensive line. This is because you will undoubtedly throw countless yards of line in the trash while untangling backlashes. I would recommend going cheap here, with some inexpensive big game or Trilene. Good luck, and I hope this helps

Color Blindness And Fishing
Just a curious question. Were you born with colorblindness, or did it progressively get worse as you got older?

Are The Weeds Stopping You From Fishing?
Frogs are the only lures you can use. Even then, they don't work too well, as after you set the hook on the fish, you end up draggin another pound of weeds behind the fish.

Are The Weeds Stopping You From Fishing?
Lol the weeds you are talking about aren't the type of weeds I am talking about. There is no way to effectively fish this gunk. I have tried everything and nothing works. I believe the excessive algae grows because of the runoff fertilizer and pesticide mos people use.

Local Pond Changing?
Lol I have a pond exactly like this. Last year, everytime I went out I could catch at least 3 dinks and a decent bass. Now I cant catch anything. I have fished everything, but have noticed the weed growth has progressively gotten worse and worse. Before, you could see little bluegill and small bass on the top of the water column. Now, you cant see anything except for tiny 1 inch minnows. I believe I have found the culprit for the ponds degradation. The pond I am talking about is in a residential area, and the area it is in has much pollution. Im willing to bet that people's lawns have contributed big time to the algae growth. The fertilizers in the lawns run off into the water, and the big fish die, as all the oxygen is used up by the algae. In the end, the only fish living are usually bluegill and minnows. This is why I don't really fish anymore of these ponds in open areas. People always pollute them, and in turn, all the decent fish die.

Color Blindness And Fishing
Sorry if this sound ignorant, but what exact form of colorblindness are you guys talking about? Is it that you can only see certain shades of color, or cannot see any color at all? Again, sorry if this sounds stupid but I don't know anything whatsoever about colorblindness.

Could You Use Bass Gear For Stripers?
Would soft body swimbaits such as the Berkly sick fish also work? Also, do Stripers hit rattle traps?
