  1. Heard about it, never fished it. Its supposed to be one of the premier big bass lakes in NJ
  2. Ill probably use a freshwater/ inshore reel the Okuma Serrano. It has 11 pounds of drag, and I will probably spool some 12 pound test on it. This reel is toted as inshore, as it has duragear brass gears and a corrosion coating. The rod I will be using is probably my cheapest lews 6'6 mh broomstick rod. It fishes a little bit heavier then a normal mh. Should this gear be fine for some freshwater stripers?
  3. Just curious, as I have a river nearby my house called the Raritan River, and it is a really good striper fishery. Also, what lures should I use and what techniques should I use?
  4. Honestly, you shouldn't really need to buy any new gear. What you do need to do is practice your thumb. A 7' MH rod is perfect for jigs. All these people who are saying that shimano is better than abu obviously rely way more on the braking system rather than there own thumb. Just practice casting a bit more and ill bet that you'll find that the Veracity is a actually a really good rod.
  5. Go with the Okuma C3-40X. Its on sale at TW. You can get it for 90$, while it retails for 165$. I have one, and it is amazing. Absolutely love it. No rod except the Tatula probably can touch it in that price range.
  6. LOL. 500$ for a rod? Are you an enthusiast. If you are, then Tackle Tour might help you a bit more.
  7. Budget? Type of Rod? Cmon buddy you have to give us more then that.
  8. If that pond isn't man made, then it probably has fish. I exclusively fish ponds, both natural and man made, and usually there is always bass in them. If you really want to test it out, just throw some bread crumbs on the top of the water. If you seen any minnows or sunfish jump out then there probably is fish.
  9. If you really want to save money, go with copolymer. Its the perfect mix between sensitivity and affordability.
  10. Is that a lake or a pond? Lol that's huge for a pond.
  11. Acme Kastmaster or Luhr Jensen Kast Champ.
  12. Nice. Give us a detailed a revew on the Tournament Speed spin. A lot of members on this board use the speed spools, but very few use lew's spinning reels.
  13. ROOSTER Tails. Cast downstream and slowly reel in.

Snell Knot on the side with hook. On the tag end, it has a loop knot. The loop knot is used to connect the snelled hook to a swivel or another loop knot.
  15. At the hundred dollar range, don't limit yourself to just one rod. I know that St. Croix makes a great product, but where they really hit their forte is at the Avid or Rage line +. At the hundred price point there are much better options than the St Croix Premier. The Okuma C3-40X on clearance at TW for 90$ is a no-brainer, as it will definitely outshine almost all other rods under 120$. Good Luck, Vince
  16. Love the Rage tail coffee baits. I have used attractants on it, and haven't seen it make a difference other than draining my wallet.
  17. No problemo and give us a review once you use it for a while.
  18. Its a no brainer. Go for it. I highly doubt you will be able to find a better rod at the price. Especially with that Lifetime warranty.
  19. Sure... hell why not. I only have experience with the spinning 7' mh rod, but I love it. Honestly, sensitivity is amazing and the components are perfect for the price. I really dig the grips. They are kinda like winn grips, as they are made from some form of rubber. Although the rod handle is comfortable when dry, it gets even better when its a bit wet. Overall, I think you cant go wrong with the rod. Especially with the fact that you can find them for under 120$ on Amazon....
  20. Shoot my fault. I have never heard of wacky rigging a senko with a EWG hook. How exactly would that work?
  21. there have been 5 threads on this already. I have replied in almost every one. Go use that little button in the top right corner of the page and see the wonders it performs for you.
  22. Honestly, I don't see how people get line twist with texas rigs. As long as you rig the creature straight on, there should be no line twist or spinning of the rig. Even if you don't manage to position the bait straight on, it should be fine, as the weight of the hook helps stabilize the bait. I fish usually with soft plastics, and I have not had one instance of a rage craw twisting or turning on a t-rig. The only problem I had was with weightless flukes barrel-rolling.
  23. No matter the size of the hook, a texas rig is still probably one of the most weedless and effective rigs for fishing through light cover.
  24. Soft Plastics are killer in retention ponds. I catch most of my fish in retention ponds, and the top producers are in no specific order: T-Rig, Rage Rig, and Flukes.
