  1. Also, ethanol is your enemy even with a "treatment". Go ethanol free if at all possible.
  2. Not all canoes are created equal
  3. Opt for the 50, you'll be glad you did. I've personally had a 30MK, a 50 MK, and a 54MG for my 10e. I still have both 50's and mainly fish a 350 acre lake. There's a significant difference in 20 lbs. of thrust on these little yachts . BTW -- bring a paddle, ALWAYS
  4. Must be some of that there Alabama Algebra
  5. As a long time fly fisherman, just a slight correction in your thought process. I agree with everything you said except for "powerful enough to handle the bulky flies, cover, and fish power:" When fly fishing, you're casting the line, not the fly. You have to use heavy enough line (and tippet) to get the fly to turn over, so the end result is similar, just slightly different on the reason. Heavier weight line requires heavier weight rod etc. Try a 4 wt. rod with a little popper on the end (like you'd fish for sunfish) and those dink bass all of a sudden can become a handful.
  6. Distance, as in travel. My region went through 5 year severe drought and the fishing sucks unless you go 50 miles east.
  7. Seems as if you're waiting either way
  8. I'm not sure what you are referring to (tail spinning around) with the motor up front. I have both a bow mount MG Bulldog, and a transom mount MK Endura. I run all configurations, including both when I think ill need it. With the bow mount, do you distribute weight evenly so that boat sponsons are level in the water? The only time mine has ever spun is when bow weight was significantly heavier that stern, remedy was to adjust position of heaviest movable object... Just slid my seat back.
  9. Why not just up your drop weight? It seems as if the difference in hook weight would be negligible in most all cases.
  10. I have both those rods and like them, until I got a Abu Garcia Veracity in my hands. The Veracity is sooo much more sensitive, and Simmons Sporting Goods (Bessemer AL) has them for $99 right now.
  11. I have an endura 50 and I can tell you that operation at max setting will severely affect the duration of charge. I usually don't operate it above 3 now and when I'm actually fishing, I use 1 and 2. I can fish longer than my butt can tolerate. Just picked up a MG Bulldog w foot control, haven't had it long enough to evaluate power consumption.
  12. IMHO...If you've owned the 3 boats listed you should have likes and dislikes about each, size notwithstanding. Nobody can provide an informed answer for you because there are too many undefined variables. Only you know what your likes and dislikes are, and where things fall in your list of priorities.
  13. Been using braid w floro leader for quite some time now in ultra clear water. Never had the Albright fail me once ...
  14. Been fishing in the evenings. Zoom Ol' Monster on the outside weedline.
  15. I second the comment on the Minn Kota TM Power Center. At first I thought $60 for a battery box? No thanks. Then I read some comments on the unit so decided to research further...glad I did.
  16. yes, but if you wire them in parallel, both will feed the TM resulting in the same power for a longer duration, but no spare when the batteries go dead. (BTW - It is never recommended to take a battery to that point, causes severe longevity issues) Weight dispersal up to you. You more than offset the weight of batteries and trolling motor (unless you are very small or the batteries/TM combo is extremely heavy). True, more thrust, the higher the rate of power consumption.
  17. Does it smell like garlic, anise, shad, or something else?
  18. I have no trailer, manhandle in and out of the bed of my truck. Not a real problem either way unless you get to launch/recover from ramp/bank that elevates the normal tailgate height significantly. I leave the TM attached because I mount my transducer on the TM. Still, unlike what others have stated, IMO very little stress on transom with proper positioning and a bungee to prevent excessive vertical movement of the TM shaft. Verified the amount of movement/transom flex with a bed mounted camera. There was no aft flex, and the forward flex was less than experienced under full power when in the water.
  19. x2 For that price, I may just have to let it go
  20. You'll have to teach me that trick then, because I've never had it happen (on a unmangled senko).
  21. Use a weedless hook or the O-ring wacky tool and that won't happen.
  22. Went to Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge yesterday evening. Water temp (surface) was 89 so fished where shade was already on the water. Was throwing a fluke, good success until the sun got real low. Discovered the thermocline was at 8 - 9 feet so went out deeper to the weed edge. That was the ticket, couldn't keep them off my hook, caught 15 -20 between the time the sun went down and dark. Just 3 or 4 decent fish, the rest were all dinks. aka approx 1lb.
  23. That would depend on what you're throwing, at least for LMB. Smallies may be different though, but fishing isn't.
  24. What? You tried braid years ago and didn't care for it because "it casts light lures easier due to the thinner diameter while enjoying the benefits of a higher pound test line. It's extremely abrasion resistant, doesn't seem to twist and has virtually zero stretch'. Am I missing something here?
