  1. My foot pedal is dead horizontal when I attached my unit to bow. If I swung the mount around to make it work on transom, that's when I have directional restrictions. Strange
  2. Just a quick note on the seat, proper (comfortable) height is of paramount consideration. You'll arrive at the right height for you pretty quickly.
  3. 1. I've tried the padded version of the stock seat sold at Academy, leaves a little to be desired IMO. Personally, I'd go with a quality boat seat...your choice of features and price. 2. Not familiar with a "NOT so HEAVY" deep cycle battery. One thing you can try is not lifting it any higher than required. Several ways to accomplish this...not familiar with your setup. 3. Can't help you there as I lift mine in n out, slide into water. Congrats on the new purchase, lots of great info in this thread, let us know how your maiden voyage goes
  4. Images added to a gallery album owned by wnspain in Fishing Albums

  5. My Father's Day present from my wonderful wife, a MotorGuide Bulldog TM, 54lbs. thrust, foot controlled. No more tiller for me!!!
  6. In the ponds I fished (we went through 5 years of severe drought) a limit was almost assured. I'd say on average it would weigh 12 lbs. Have had a few 15 lb days this year, but recently not so good.
  7. Elmer Thomas, was using finesse and trick worms, senkos, flukes, spinnerbait, swimbait, crankbait, you name it. Tried shallow, med depth ledges, weedlines, etc.
  8. Nothing to report today. For the first time this year, skunked! A couple of hits shallow, but not sure about it being bass. I obviously haven't figured out the post spawn/early summer pattern here. May take some time but that's one resource I do have.
  9. Thanks for the report! . All shallow? Going to try to make it out this afternoon / evening, will post report.
  10. I fish their (shimano crucial) drop shot rod all the time. My go to rod for finesse fishing.
  11. Agreed, the Down Scan and GPS is the most useful thing about the Elite 4 HDI. Most salesman don't have a clue, some do, but not many.
  12. Probably not. Notice I did say probably j/k
  13. Interesting! I thought the whole cavity would be filled with foam. What other things did you add?? I appreciate the insight as to the innards of the Pelican. I suppose that there is some wood/high density plastic to reinforce the transom/bow mounts but the pictures don't show it. You do realize that Attwood makes battery operated navigation lights in both standard and LED models, right? They come with both bow and transom mounts and take all of about 30 seconds to put them on when needed. Thanks for the pics, you generated some ideas for mine...
  14. All signed up to fish in the 2015 BBWC!
  15. I thought the same thing. I use cheap heavier mono for all my backing and leave room for about 50-60 yds of premium floro or braid.
  16. I have a 35 mounted on a SC Rage for dropshotting, probably could have gone with the 30 but don't fish it all day so the 35 will suffice. It all depends on what you want to rig, I have no spinning gear that big.
  17. Most likely, worm not rigged straight. After rigging and before casting, drag it through the water. If it spins at all, rerig!
  18. GAD, if you're looking into the Lowrance 5x, do some research. Although Lowrance makes some good units, I've heard the Elite 5 is miserable in shallow water, just as my Elite 4 HDI is. I don't have any personal experience with the 5x, but my unit is virtually worthless for downscan imaging in shallow water. For depths greater than 12, it's fine.
  19. Here's one from Lake Elmer Thomas, 4.2 lbs on Memorial Day.
  20. OK, ok, you guys have convinced me. I just purchased a Mustang Inflatable PFD. Wore it yesterday (all day) for the first time, I think I can get comfortable with it. One thing though, you guys didn't tell me it would reduce the # of fish caught. Only 4 bass and 3 cats for a 1/2 day of fishing Could be worse I guess, but not much. j/k
  21. BB, Bass Hunters are made from polyethelene, which by nature, resist chemical bonding including primer/paint. Best results are usually associated with a thorough cleaning to remove all grease, oil, etc. and then roughing up (sanding) the surface to be painted. Acrylic paint should be used as it flexes even when dry. Good luck...let me know how it turns out.
  22. Soon....I hadn't tried it until April of this year. Now, it's perhaps may favorite technique...well maybe not (froggin), but sure is effective!!!
  23. Academy Sports perhaps? The one near me carries at least 40 or 50 models.
