  1. Mike is absolutely excellent. I'm about an as off the wall A.D.H.D type of person as you can get and he had always been nothing but patient and honest with me. I'm glad you went with him. He deserves all the business he could handle.
  2. Let's be honest, the only darkside is the fly fishermen.
  3. I'd use braid with a flouro leader with it honestly. 20lb smackdown to 10lb flouro leader for all under water applications and straight braid for top waters.
  4. http://m.ebay.com/itm/Shimano-Stradic-2500HG-FK-Spinning-Reel-Stradic-FK-/262489666292?hash=item3d1d9a72f4%3Ag%3AqTgAAOSwjXRXZfhk&_trkparms=pageci%3A8ba1bb3e-f511-11e6-9ef7-74dbd18019b8%7Cparentrq%3A4c2c08e615a0a606257803f8fff4d815%7Ciid%3A2
  5. For an extra 10 you can get the avid x, which I think is a phenomenal rod brand new. The options for used are also endless if you're patient, klx, dobyns champion, etc. So if you're looking for new try to squeeze out the extra for the avid x or look around for something used.
  6. I've got a dvt custom medium, 7'2" 1/4 to 3/4, casting rod built on an mhx elite pro blank with a shimano core 51 spooled with 20lb smackdown.
  7. That was going to be my question, I'll order two right now
  8. Thanks for the advice. As they say, hook sets are free.
  9. I do the majority of my rods custom but I wasn't sure if this was going to be a type of fishing that was bite sensitive like soft plastics and texas rigs etc.
  10. My price range is basically 800 for rod and reel but if sensitivity isnt an issue then I would tone down what I need.
  11. Not once, not ever. I've spent most of my time fishing up north and was always more of a plastics guy and found a way to make soft plastics work. I now live in Georgia and after seeing the waters I'll now be calling home the presentation that keeps popping into my mind is jig fishing. So here is my question, what is important in terms of purchasing a rod, line, and reel? Is sensitivity as important as it is with plastics? What strength of line should I be looking to get into? What reel do you recommend? Should I be looking for drag capacity or typical smoothness?
  12. I've been looking around for reviews and I'm having a hard time finding anything as far as people using it. Have any of you had any experience with the brand?
  13. I've used the st croix legends tournaments, sold both of them two years ago or maybe three now? I don't remember. Either way I find the st croix rods run a bit stiff for their rating. Usually find if it says 1/8th to 1/2 it isn't going to throw below 1/4 very well at all.
  14. I need a few of those and those illegal in five states laser eye crank baits that make any fish strike. Then I'll be all set. I bet the side plate on this puppy has at least five barrings.
  15. The second one after filing bankruptcy from buying too many in the first place.
  16. I'd be more than happy to buy a president 25 series reel. If you don't want it, send a price my way
  17. Rootbeer cranks and jerks.
  18. If Mike from DVT keeps taking my checks, I'll have three rods without reels that total 1k, and three reels with line around 1k. That being said I started on a 45 dollar combo on clearence from bass pro shops. With such a broad question the best thing I can advise is to go by price, and make a short list of well reviewed reels/rods in your price range from places like TW. Search the forums for reviews on the product, and see if you can get your hands on it. We all have different tastes, and ideas on affordability.
  19. Does anyone know if there is any current or upcoming bfs upgrades for these reels?
  20. If Seibert doesn't carry the jig you're looking for, you don't need it.
  21. I would buy another core right now if I could find a 101 and I also have a buddy in the market for another 101 as well.
  22. Neko rigs, texas rigs. Also uncommon presentations
