Can/Do Bass Spawn on Ledges?
I think so. I read an article several years ago that discussed this. It stated that not all bass will go up in the shallows and most spawn a lot deeper than you'd think. I believe as long as the area is protected, the temp is right, and there's stable bottom composition they'll do their thing.

Recommendation Siebert Jigs
I personally like the dock rocker but if your in weeds or heavy cover I'd go with the brush jig but which ever you choose may I recommend the Dredge series. Since switching to that owner deep throat hook my hook up ratio has went way up. I've found that you still have to set the hook but with nowhere near the force and the hook is buried. Mike is here on the forums and I'm sure he'll be along to help.

Uncharacteristically Warm Winter? What Season is it?
Who knows! A couple weeks ago I caught them in 2 feet of water and was like "ok here we go"...today I didn't get a bite in less than 10.

To Alabama rig or not?
I like it, even went out and bought a dedicated a-rig setup. Its definitely not a magic bait but when you get on a good a-rig bite you'll understand why there's so much hype to it. I also believe and have proven that it'll trigger the larger fish in a school to bite.

Anyone own a Ranger RT198?
IMHO that boat is not worth $35,000.

A-Rig rod?
Thanks for the reply's. One thing I didn't take into consideration was some of the rigs I throw are bladed. I really don't know how much weight that would add. Fishnkamp, yes both rods have enough tip that they could be used as swimbait rods, which after thinking about has me leaning more towards the XHvy which would allow me to throw both.

A-Rig rod?
Looking at buying a dedicated rod for throwing A-Rigs. I'm going to stick with my current rod brand and they offer two rods for this presentation. One rod is heavy and rated for 1/2-2 oz. and the other is XHvy and 1-4 oz. Both rods are 7'11" and have mod-fast actions but lean more to the fast side but do have some tip. I've handled both and neither can be considered wimpy. Which rod do you guys suggest I choose. BTW I throw the 5 arm rigs with four 1/8oz heads and one 1/4oz with baits in the 3 inch range.

Morning vs evening fishing
I used to think first thing in the morning was the best but I'm starting to lean towards the evening time. Looking back almost all of my big fish have come after 10 am and some of the best fishing I've experienced has come after 3 pm. I also think that pressure has something to do with it. There's just not that many people around here that fish late in the day.

Cashion Rods
I've had two. Ordered one but had to send it back to tackle warehouse due to the reel seat not being epoxied in and was completely loose. The other rod was nice with zero issues and I really liked it. I wanted to switch to all Cashion but after going to two different dealers and finding several rods at each place with defects I scratched them off the list. It seemed like every other rod I picked up either had a guide misaligned (and I don't mean a slight misalignment either) or some other type of issue. It's a shame too because I really like the grip but they've got some serious quality control issues that need to be addressed.

Fall Fishing Lures
Here in my area (upper SC) I consider fall fishing to begin when the water starts getting into the low 70's. Usually Nov-Dec are my best months. My best baits during this time are spinnerbaits, soft jerkbaits, and my favorite small crankbaits.

siebert dredge jig
I love those dredge jigs with the deep throat hook. I truly believe that I have a better hook up ratio while using them as compared with others. Thanks Mike!

big worms?
Fish them very slow and when you think your fishing slow enough slow down a little more! I like them on a Texas rig or big shaky head fished around off shore structure.

Do you have a "that friend" and what does he do?
I have a "that guy friend" that also happens to be a distant family member that I use to take fishing from time to time who can't seem to keep from casting to the front of the boat. I don't mind sharing but it got so bad that when approaching a piece of cover 20-30 yards in front of the boat he was already trying to cast to it from the back. Needless to say he doesn't get an invitation much anymore.

Overcomplicating things
Man this thread is great. I will admit that I been caught up in all the hype. I had all different colors and setups, most of which I had never fished with or caught a single fish using. Then I came to realize that I usually only caught fish on a hand full of lures most of which are just the basics in only a handful of colors so I cut out all the rest. Now when I head out I know exactly what I'm going to be fishing with and focus on those baits and to be honest It's made things a lot more enjoyable.

Sales at closing Wal-Marts
I work on the logistics side of Walmart and stateside there closing mostly express stores along with a few others but building a ton of new supercenters in the next few years. I heard but can't say for sure that one of the supercenters local to me had all the outdoor stuff 50 to 75% off. I would have cleaned house!

New Member Here. This Is My First Attempt At Learning To Fish Bigger Water. Any Suggestions Would Be Very Appreciated!
OP break the lake down into sections. That's what helped me the most. Instead of trying to fish the entire lake in one day I instead focus on small sections at a time. It wasn't until I applied this principle that I started to have any luck on bigger waters. Good luck!

Your Opinion On The Next World Record Largemouth
I say it'll come from some type of private waters (probably down south). For example look at what Dr. Gary Schwarz is doing with the deer and bass on his ranch in Texas.

Boat Loan
My personal bank wouldn't go lower than 7.0% and I have excellent credit. They said there just wasn't enough market for it. Checked with my credit union and got 2.0%.
