So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
For our map analysis are we gonna be able to see any screenshots of the areas we’re discussing? Or just kinda figure it out with our map at home

I think the area around the mouth would be a good place to start.

Catt, maybe we could look at Palo Gaucho? I know that’s not as popular a spot, so if you think another area might be more beneficial to take a look at I’m all for it. Ready to learn

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
Hey y’all, I was wondering if maybe a few people on here could break out the topo maps and help educate the rest of us on how to break down a piece of water. I know there are a few things at the beginning of this forum, but some more input would be extremely helpful I think. Some things I personally would like to learn are how to identify spawning areas, pinpointing the best areas of deep water that fish move into in summer and winter, and just other general things that allow you to truly understand where the bass may be at a given time.

Thanks, and does anyone know how much water visibility affects how deep the bass will go?

So whats the best way to make your graph recognize the thermoclines? And don't the bass basically always stay right above them?

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
Does anyone know what the thermocline at Toledo may range from, specifically in muddier parts of the lake like Palo Gaucho? I'm doing some research and trying to figure out how deep the bass go during the winter and hot summer around here. Thanks.

Hello, I was wondering if I could get some opinions on what exactly I'm seeing on my electronics. Took these today out in Palo Gaucho. Anyone able to show me what I'm seeing? I'd really like to better understand the graphs because I think it would help me in locating bass. Hello, I was wondering if I could get some opinions on what exactly I'm seeing on my electronics. Also, anyone have a clue where the fish are during this tropical storm or what they may bite?

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
So we fished Sunday night and Monday morning after the storms passed over. At first we focused on fishing 12-14 foot of water and only connected with one fish. Monday we woke up early and saw the big storms ahead so we decided to wait it out and go after it's over. We managed to pick up a fish off a point on a rattletrap and after that we decided we should probably really slow down and fish the area but the result ended with no other fish, We decided to try to go and fish the Palo galcho bridge in deeper water, which also sucked. We then headed up the cut and head more to the mouth and decided to give an attempt to flip some grass which also didn't work. We moved and headed to bank with tons of structure and was 25-30 feet deep. We immediately connected with a fish off a Carolina rig dragging it slow across the bottom with a green pumpkin trick worm with a dipped chartuese tail as our bait. We fished in 30 ft of water casting toward the bank so we probably were catching them around 15-25 feet and ended only catching 2 more.. We can't seem to catch any good quality or quantity fish. We have fish finders etc but when we think we see the fish on the screen or see these good looking drop offs that seem to be holding fish we can never connect with them. I have a tournament January 15 on Rayburn and me and my partner need help on locating fish. How to fish the area. What to use when fishing these winter bass

Irrelevant post but just wondering: Does anyone know if bowfishing ever happens at Toledo? Wanted to look into it.

Bow fishing Questions
So I have a Diamond Razor Edge bow and I was wondering if it would be a bad idea to use it for bowfishing. I've read a few things saying not to use your hunting bow because it would get damaged, so it's best to get a cheap or old one to use. Thoughts? I'd really love some advice!

So my buddy and I went out yesterday in Palo Gaucho in the morning and started out fishing by the bridge on the banks using spinners, buzzbaits, but actually caught our two early fish on a crank and jigging spoon. After a while we went more towards the mouth and tried to fish big points and humps in +-20 fow. We tried deep cranks, drop shot, and jigging spoons but got nothing. So I have a question. My friend and I have tried fishing deep multiple times, and I feel like we are doing what we are supposed to do in that situation, but it seems that we can't figure it out. If any of y'all could give some deep water tips, or any tips at all, that would be great!

How does the rain affect the various bass patterns? Going up this weekend and gonna be fishing Palo Gaucho

Location, Location, Location
I've been fishing for a while now, and I have been exposed to a big amount of techniques that I feel confident in now. We went out on the water today, and I felt prepared to face whatever situation, but we had no luck today whatsoever. I've made the conclusion that we have just no idea where to go, and that if we could figure out where and when to fish a spot, we'd be great. I've done lots of research about what to look for. I'm in dire need of help to find the right location, because anything that we have been doing has not been producing. Thanks

So our lakehouse is on Palo Gaucho, but we don't bass fish there all of the time like say one would fish 6 Mile or Housen. We just don't hear about the fishing being nearly as good there. In our neighborhood, there is this old married couple that fish every single day, so I'm sure they know every nick and crannie in that cut. But how do you get there? Open to all replies, but I feel like Catt would be a great example, because you have a vast knowledge of the lake. I want to know how to get my start on being able to fish well in Paulo Gaucho, like what is the first step to learning that place. I realize that the level of knowledge and expertise I'm talking of isn't easily achieved, but that's only another reason to start early right? Even if you can't help my specific situation, how did all of you get to learn your lakes and better understand the bass? Thanks

So Yall Want To Learn Sam Rayburn
Going out tomorrow morning to fish new parts of the lake for us. Low is 43 degrees and I'm assuming all the rain still has an effect on clarity, sounds like it might be tough. Gonna try by 5 Fingers and veach, any tips on techniques or what to look for in these conditions?

So we had our HS tournament last Sunday, and we caught close to 30 fish, just couldn't find ANY big ones. Still got 5 keepers and culled one but only finished w/ 10.34 lbs. We fished buck bay and near boggy branch, trying to keep the boat in 8fow or so. We fished towards the bank for the majority of the morning, then tried some shallow humps and underwater points. All we caught fish on was plastics, granted we had a lot more patience with those than hard baits. I used watermelon red trick worm Texas rigged, my partner and captain used wacky worms of similar color. Winning team finished with 23 something pounds, big bass was 8+ caught by a friend from my school. I think the big girls were still a little deeper, but we may have not been in the right spot for them to be up shallow. Hope this helps any of yall
