I've never heard of a sahara FH, and don't understand why you would have to replace the friction ring on the newer model symetre FL. Did the ring break? Not even sure they make the symetre in the 750 size anymore. You've totally lost me with the inner tube thing, what opening to the gearbox are you covering?

The ardent butter and hot sauce grease are probably the only two greases I would never consider using again. The reel butter didn't like to stick on the gears at all in my experiences. After a few uses it was like the gears were completely dry, no film of grease left at all. Go to ace hardware and get a tube of superlube and be done.

It will seep out of the reel eventually even if you use just a tiny bit and will stain everything it touches. Seems to me that oil or grease that stains everything red is a pretty good reason for it to earn a bad rap.

I've always liked superlube grease the best for gears. I can't stand the red crap in the hot sauce oil and grease.

Why not just use 2 empty reels plus the one you are spooling? Reel the backing on to one and cut it off at the knot. Then reel your mainline on to the other. Then back on to the reel you're spooling in the right order.

You're not getting a nrx or glx under 200 bucks.

If you use a pick be careful not to damage the surface or washer under the clip. Sometimes if I'm taking something apart that I'm concerned about pieces wanting to go shooting across the room I'll take it apart inside a large clear plastic bag.

What are the differences besides the 6.4 gear ratio option? I've owned a few curado and citica E's, but never had any chronarch E's.

Avids are my choice, although the falcon bucoo rods are awesome for 100 bucks!!

How can you guys rate the curado or chronarch E's at different ratings? Aren't they the same reel?

Pflueger supreme size 30 or find a deal on a clearance stradic fj 2500. I'm not a fan of the new sahara and symetre 2500's for many reasons but one of them is because they are close to my knuckles like you described. Not sure why shimano decided to start making spinning reels for people with tiny hands.

More cranking power, faster retrieve rate, more powerful drag, longer casting distance, less line twist, usually balance better on m and ml rods.

I agree 100 percent. No such thing as waders that will last a lifetime. They will ALL start leaking eventually. Usually a lot sooner than you expect. I use stocking foot breathables all year. You can layer up underneath when it's cold. Neoprene are unbearable if it's not cold out.

Just something to complain about? Geez. Yeah I guess everyone should just except the fact that anything they order online could be used or missing parts and not complain. I work too hard for my money to agree with that.

Easy enough? That doesn't sound easy at all, sounds like a hassle to me. Maybe I'm alone here but when I order something online from a place like DSG I assume it's going to be new and unopened. How do you know what's been done to the reel? There's a reason why there's no box. You also say it doesn't matter because it's still under warranty. Why on earth should anyone have to deal with the headache of sending in a supposedly brand new reel for warranty?

Now this is just nonsense! This isn't ebay, it's a major retailer! When you order something that's new it shouldn't be opened or missing anything period. The fact that's it's on sale or clearance has nothing to do with it. If the reel is missing the box or is a display they should tell you before you order it.

I've seen a lot of returned used beat up reels in the display case at my local dsg. Good deal or not if I ordered a new reel online from a major retailer and it wasn't new in an unopened box I would return it.

Say what? That's definitely a deal breaker in my opinion! You order a new reel from a place like DSG it should be unopened brand new in the box period!
