Most bluegill beds are very close to the bank. While bass beds are typically farther out. So probably Bluegill

Down here in florida there is an organization that holds events for kids fishing. They had one in March where they gave all kids attending a free rod and reel. They even have a kids only offshore fishing trip on the 27th. They are called the Halifax Sports Fishing Club or HSFC if you want to check them out.

Ok so i am planning on catching some freshwater catfish soon for the first time. I know the barbels are harmless but i do know they have sharp spines on their dorsal and pectroal fins. I know for a fact the saltwater catfish here sting with those spines but i dont know about freshwater catfish. So my question is what species of freshwater cats sting and how can i handle them without getting stung?

Next week i will be visiting my friend in Maryland and we are going to try and catch a catfish. The only problem being; neither of us have ever caught one. This worries me since i mainly rely on experience when fishing. There are no catfish spots near me that i know of and maryland is not a place i visit often being about 1000 miles away. I would really like to catch one so any tips would be greatly appreciated. Also we'll be fishing in a small pond so ive no idea where they will be. (I saw a dead one on the bank so i know they're there lol.)

The thing i like about pier fishing is that you can get a variety of fish without even trying. I use live shrimp every time and ive caught Flounder, Sheepshead, Hardhead, and even something ive never seen that turned out to be a lizardfish. Ive also seen others use live shrimp and catch stingray, snapper, mackerel, spadefish, etc. I dont know about sharks and my only advice would be to be careful!

Nope hooked right in the mouth, just barely missed his eye. He was fine and even flopped the hook out of his mouth.

I caught this In the Indian River (a saltwater river system in florida) today. I asked around and no one knew what it was. It seems like a type of goby but other than that i have no idea. It was 11 inches long and i caught it on live shrimp. It had small teeth and basically seemed like an eel as it slithered out of my hands a couple times. Please ID.

Ok so recently i've been trying out my first ever frog lure and i can't seem to land any fish with it. I've had 8 bites so far and landed none. This is really frusturating because i've had some pretty big bass on but the lure just slips out. The hooks are sharp as can be but i can't seem to land any of the bass! Please help!

I'll be in Maryland in june and me and my friend are going to try Largemouth Bass. The problem is i can't find any websites that tell me the bag limit. So i would like to know how big they have to be to be a keeper. Also if it varies in different regions - ill be in Carroll County Maryland.

so i recently got some gear to try surf fishing here in Florida. But i've never been so i don't know what rig to use, what bait to use, or what i'll catch. So far i'm pretty set on pompano rig with squid or shrimp. So i would like to know what my setup should be and if my current one is good or not. Also just for fun, what is your favorite fish to catch from the surf?

Yes my PB which is 7lbs 2oz came out of my barely 4 acre neighborhood pond and it was also right by shore! Others are right as well. A 1 acre pond can hold decent sized bass.

Ok so i'll be going to maryland in june and me and my friend are going to go fishing. He knows how to fillet fish so we would like to catch dinner while we're there. As far as i know there are Bluegill, Largemouth Bass, Catfish, and what seems like a white perch. I know yellow perch are good but what about white perch? Also i know catfish are good but we are very unexperienced in catching them. So are bluegill or bass anygood? And what about white perch?

I have never seen a bass bite a second time once he has been battled. Howeverif you've just hooked them or ripped it out of their mouth than some aggresive bass will come back for round 2. But if you've hooked him and he threw it... You mine as well move on.

Ok so in june me and my family are going up to maryland to visit our old hometown. There is a small pond in the neighborhood and i am planning to fish there with my friend. There are, as far as i know, bluegill, largemouth, catfish and something like a landlocked striped bass. I would like tips on catching catfish and striped/white bass. Im not 100% sure what the white/striped bass was since it was years ago when i caught one. It did seem something like a landlocked striper though. So i would like to have as many tips on catching these species, preferly catfish or white/striped bass. Any northern fishing tips would help because ive pretty much forgotten all the best methods since im used to florida fishing now.
