  1. I can't help it, I know It probably doesn't work, but i just think It would be cool to play around with. Has anyone had any success with the LiveTarget Hollow Body Field Mouse?
  2. KVD Sexy Shad Tandem Spinnerbait (6.5 lbs)
  3. Yeah, while not ideal, you really can get away with flouro for buzzbaits. They are typically moving fast enough that with your rod tip high you will be able to get away with it.
  4. I usually start 15 minutes before sunrise. 1.) Buzzbaits and/or Topwater Frogs (because they are the most fun, and you usually can't get away with using them later in the day) 2.) Lipless Cranks or Spinnerbaits (After the topwater bite dies down, or occasionally never picks up, I go to search baits, mainly testing to see if the bass are in an aggressive feeding mode. If they are I usually stay with these baits.) 3.) Slow moving soft plastics- Flukes, Senkos, Drop-Shot (If the bass are not chasing the fast moving baits I can usually get them on one of these) 4.) Ned-Rig (If all else fails)
  5. We must be two very different fisherman. You just named my 2 go-to lures.
  6. Squarebill does deflect better, but you can learn how to use a lipless quite effectively in timber.
  7. Just reading through a lot of reviews of various spinner baits. Obviously the opinion of certain people, but a much greater problem on cheaper spinnerbaits when the wire bends in the middle and cannot be completely repaired.
  8. Their customer service is awesome. Just give them a call.
  9. I've had the same experience with KVD spinnerbaits. They are absolute workhorses. The skirt will be completely gone long before the wire or blades fail. I used to hear that a spinnerbait can only catch 8-10 keepers before it is trash. Not true with these. I have one that has probably landed 80-100 keepers. The best part is it is incredibly easy to replace the skirt once it gets torn apart. Definitely worth the money over the bargain brands.
  10. I use the 4.8in in houdini and green pumpkin. It works great with a slow swimming or stop and go retrieve. However, one day I lost my spinnerbait skirt and threw one of these on the spinnerbait instead of a skirt and absolutely killed them. Definitely the most productive day I've had with this bait.
  11. One thing to remember when drop shotting is that it can be fished in a wide variety of ways. From literally not moving your arm at all and letting the water and wind do the work to more agressive approaches. Someone recommended fishing it like a texas rig every once in a while, and I've caught a lot of fish that way. While the drop shot is best suited for light line and small lures, you can fish it with more aggressive presentations and/or larger baits. So experiment on a given day using it in a variety of methods as opposed to the simple vertical slow twitch that you see most people doing, this will help you get a feel for what the fish want.
  12. I'm sure if you put some low stretch braid on it you could get away with topwater. The moderate action may even allow you keep from pulling a buzzbait out of a the fishes mouth too quickly.
  13. St. Croix, both premier or triumph would be around your price range. They make fantastic rods and I like their ultralights more than their bigger rods. Lifetime warranty, you can't go wrong.
  14. When going braid to a flouro leader on spinning gear, do you prefer a line to line knot or a swivel in between the two? Which do you think would lead to more line failures? Does line twist come into play when using braid?
  15. I do have a spool of Sunline Sniper on the way. I am hoping that solves some of my issues. If this doesn't work I am going to have to give up the slack line sensitivity and just go with a braid to fluoro setup.
  16. It should have been spoiled correctly, line off the top of the spool. Line felt pretty good. And sometimes the rod sits for a few weeks in between fishing trips, some of the memory comes out after landing a fish or two but that doesn't necessarily stop the problem.
  17. Casting gear. 12lb test. Both spools were new from bass pro
  18. On this site I see a lot about the difficulties people have with FC line as a far as nicks and breakage. I however am not having these issues. My problem is with line management. I thought I had solved these problems years ago when I discovered invisix, but this past season it drove me up a wall. It is possible that it was because I switched from a trion to a pro qualifier, but all summer I had trouble with my invisix... It wasn't so much backlashes but constant loops forming in my spool and terrible line memory. This happened with two different spools of invisix, and I even tried KVD L&L. It just ruins my day of fishing when I am constantly pulling out line to keep loops from forming in my spool. What am I doing wrong?
  19. I'm transitioning a finesse setup to braid, so I need a good leader in 6-8lb. I will only be using this line for leaders on this setup and I would like something that won't break the bank.
  20. Okay. I've settled on PowerPro 20lb for the mainline. My next question is; Is a fluorocarbon or co polymer leader better? Would it be total overkill to use a nice fluoro as a leader?
  21. Is there an advantage to lighter braid? Like greater sensitivity or improved handling?
  22. Do you ever have any problems with that set-up?
