Good Spinnerbait Box
I use the plano 3700 spinnerbait box. I don't like it because the skirts get caught under each other. I like the CD case idea.

Trailer Hooks On Spinnerbaits
I use a trailer hook most of the time. Unless I'm slow rolling the bottom or in heavy cover. If i'm in heavy cover I swap it out for a grub trailer. Black Bucher slopmaster with a big treble trailer is killer at night. Rarely will I get hit and not land it.

Detroit Metro Checking In
Thanks A-Jay, I see you've been doing well with the blade baits this time of year. I've tried it with little luck (10 casts). I know I've got to throw it more than that. Joe Balog swears by them for late fall. Love seeing your vids!

Favorite Rod Brand?
Fenwick for spinning Dobyns for casting.

Detroit Metro Checking In
Hello! I've been posting here for a bit and never made an intro. I fish primarily for smallmouth here in Michigan. Love fishing fast and covering water. I've got more tackle than I'd like to admit. I fish out of a new to me Javelin Renegade 19. I'm trying to find other like minded individuals to fish with. Lake St Clair, Cass Lake, Sylvan lake....Taking friends out to fish is fun every now and then. I'd like to find a buddy who is serious about laying the smackdown on some smallies.

Lightweight Spinning Reel
I have a few supremes. Incredibly light and reliable. Can't go wrong for $100.

Favorite Jerkbait Rod Action?
Jerkbaits are my first lure of choice, specifically a perch vision 110. I think I finally found the best set up for jerkbaits. Dobyns 704cb (med mod/fast action) Shimano 51e 12 lb Sniper flouro

Ned Rig Setups....what Do You Use?
I'm using a 7' 2" Diawa Cielo ML fast with a Shimano Sahara 1000 spooled with 10 lb power pro and a 8 lb flouro leader. This is the same set up that I use for dropshots and spybaits. I stick with the Z Man TRD on their mushroom head for now, next summer I'll play with an Erie darter on the mushroom head instead.

Lake St. Clair Guide
I fish primarily for smallmouth on LSC and other local lakes. As far as guides go, I've been out with Doug Samsal and he's a pretty laid back guy. I'm not sure about the smoking thing. Marcel Veenstra has a great reputation as well. Smallmouth are on fire right now, I'll be out on Cass Lake on Sunday. Good luck!

What Is Everyone's Day Job??
I own an Insurance Agency. When I was 24 (4 years ago) I was in a similar position that you are in now. I didn't have a good idea of what to do when I grow up. My job isn't physical at all, but I love everything about it. Lots of freedom and I don't have anyone telling me what to do. Sitting behind a desk won't be great for my gut, but I'm not tearing my back apart doing physical labor. Being a business owner is great. Find something you enjoy or you're good at and take a risk doing things on your own. You've got plenty of time to fail and learn from your mistakes.

Erie Or Lsc
I can't be much help with Erie, but I fish LSC more than any other lake. If you decide to fish LSC I'd recommend launching at the miles roads and fishing 8-11 feet of water. The miles roads and metro beach usually produce well in the fall with tubes. I will always have a perch jerkbait tied on, throwing Balog's goby swimbait is fun too. Feel free to PM me with any questions. Be safe, tight lines!

Keitech Swimbaits
I like using VMC swimbait jig heads for the keitech swing impact. I like these jigheads because they'll hold the swimbait well. The swing impacts are amazing for smallmouth, but they get torn up easy. A bit of super glue on the jighead will go a long way. I use a 7'2" medium light with 10 pound braid and a 6 pound flouro leader.

What Canadian Smallmouth Fishing Is All About To Me. ***pics***updates Sept. 2015
Beautiful color on those. Is CIR legal right now up there? I know you said 3rd Saturday in June, which is when we go up to the Big Rideau for our annual trip. We'd love to come up for the pre spawn instead of post spawn.

Should I Be Always Using A Leader?
I'll use 30# power pro with a 20# flouro leader till I lose either a nice fish or a nice lure. Then I use tyger steel leader. If we're seeing a lot of pike/musky we'll switch to leaders earlier.

I Need A New Spinning Rod
I'd go with the Fenwick HMG, it's got a tac cork handle that will be great in a creek/river when your hands get wet. I've got 2 of the HMG's and 1 elite tech smallmouth. I'll slowly be changing all of my rods to Fenwick...made in the USA, lifetime warranty, great price point, great sensitivity. Good luck!

Hello From Mi!
I've been checking out this forum for the last few years and decided to finally join. I fish out of a Wilderness Systems Ride 135 up in Michigan. I'm in the market for a bass boat now. I love the kayak but battling the winds and other boaters on Lake St Clair, I need something bigger. Love fishing for smallmouth, pike and musky. Thanks!
