  1. I've got a little boat work to do on Saturday and should be on St Clair by Sunday. Hoping for clean water, that lake has been abused lately.
  2. I picked a few of them up at the same field and stream. I like the Flat CB MR, only threw it at the local pond to check it's action. Tight wobble should be sweet for pre spawn in the flats. If they had more colors I'd get more of the Flat CB MR. I haven't tried the bevy shad yet, it looks like a finesse jerkbait. Something different for the fish to see at least.
  3. I like a 7 foot med mod/fast, currently using a dobyns 704cb. 10 pound flouro, but may start throwing braid/leader for the summer. The 7 foot length is good for distance and leverage once they are hooked. I'm covering water not target casting, so I don't want anything less than 7. If you do, check out the 684cb.
  4. You can usually buy lower braces. I have a trailer that use to sit really high until I bought the correct size bunk braces. It should make life much easier for you!
  5. For LSC my favorite combo is a 7'6" ML XF with a Shimano 2500 reel. 10 pound brad and a 12 pound flouro leader. It'll throw a tube or small keitech a mile, fine hook sets, great leverage. The more water you can cover the better.
  6. As ridiculous as he is, I think he's actually being genuine. I've learned a lot from his videos, but I can't stand him on the water.
  7. Hooks are a very personal preference, and will eventually be replaced on lures used enough. Does any company just sell the lure with out hooks/split rings? Mike Shaw said that he'll start selling his slammer without hooks since they're the first to go, but that hasn't happened yet. KVD is trying to make money just like every other pro out there. With out sponsorship's we wouldn't have professional bass fishing.
  8. I use a loomis IMX 820s and Ci4+, love the reel but the rod feels too light. I can't really gauge how big the fish is until I see it. The rod doubles over on anything over 2 pounds. I thought this rod would be good because I usually don't fish deeper than 20 feet and use a 1/4 ounce ds weight.
  9. Smoke red flake Kalin's soaked in JJ's chartreuse. It looks perchish and the smallies eat em up.
  10. Fenwick HMG 7' Med Fast Pflueger Supreme 15 lb PP, 10 Flouro leader 3/8 tube jig, sweet green Vision 110, perch Evergreen SB 125, Bone
  11. I loved mine while I had it. She broke (my fault) a few summers back and Fenwick replaced it with an Aetos. Not bad, but not the same.
  12. Perch, GP blue, and elegy bone are my favorites.
  13. I checked it out at bass pro. It's a neat design, but what's wrong with a plano 3700? The 3700 will always be the norm because of how convenient it is to store 10 of them in the boat.
  14. If you're in Oakland county, I love fishing the small lakes near Bald Mountain. Perfect to drop a canoe in for a couple hours.
  15. It's always good to take pics for all of your personal property. There are a lot of specifics on the home and boat policy, so make sure tackle is covered both ways. Boat trailers usually don't have enough coverage to replace them either.
  16. Has anyone had any experience with Alpha Angler rods? If I had a need I would give their jerkbait rod and Tac-Mag a go.
  17. I'd love to see some more info on this. I'm always in pursuit of the perfect jerkbait rod. Currently using a dobyns 704cb and a poison adrena 7'2" Med Fast
  18. I have a bucoo trapcaster with micro guides. It's spooled with 10 pound izorline. The guides are weaker than normal sized guides, but that's to be expected. It's a very versatile rod, topwater, traps, spinnerbaits...
  19. Next up is a custom tube jig rod. I'm thinking 7'6" medium or med/light fast.
  20. I've used a falcon bucoo trapcaster (7 foot, Med Heavy, Mod fast) for spinnerbaits and it works well. Sometimes you can find them in the $50 range. They are being replace by the bucoo sr, so maybe they'll pop up for less.
  21. This is good advice. I like a long ML rod for spybaits with a 2500-3500 size reel. You can get a little more distance with some light braid, but that's a whole new topic.
  22. I use a Fenwick 7'6" Med Light XF for tubes 3/8 and under. If I'm going heavier I'll use a baitcaster, Dobyns 734. I really like the ML for tubes and smallies. The length will give you plenty of leverage, braid and a leader will give you a solid hookset (I use a Zona tube hookset), the ML will give you plenty of give when the smallies go airborne. For me, it's the perfect tube jig setup.
  23. I'm not very brand loyal, but I am very loyal to keeping a setup within that brand/region. For example, I picked up a Shimano poison adrena and needed to pair it with a shimano metanium. My daiwa spybait rod needed a diawa reel and some jdm flouro. It matters more to me mentally than anything.
  24. I use a Dobyns 743 and co polymer for spooks. It'll launch a spook a mile and give you enough tip to walk the dog and hook up/land the fish.
