  1. My new boat came with a lowrance x86d up front, being a 14' tiller boat i can see it from the rear easy.
  2. Fulltilt,i asked this question on riversmallies.com and had this comment, get a new charger, although my battery is a agm,i went and bought a new digital charger that has seperate readings for lead acid, gel,or agm batteries and a charge rate of 2,8,12 amps, neat thing also on mine is that it will tell you the percentage of charge and on car batteries if there is a drain on the battery with nothing on.
  3. Fishn bear,i looked at that identical boat along with a alumacraft and war eagle, i bought the war eagle for the reviews i got and that it was camo.I have just recently found a deal that i'm looking into and you may see the war eagle on ebay!
  4. Baasnlow,i have to complain on that one,i own a small war eagle with a wesco trailer that is not drive on with a tiller motor,to load it i must pull to it with the trolling motor and hopefully it aligns straight enough that i can pull it up with the winch, but this past saturday that didn't happen and i had to hop out and pull the boat up on the rollers to get it straight,so some don't have it as easy as others do. My dad had a stratos bass boat and he'd back the boat in and i'd always drive the boat off,but since he died i've had to do it all.I kept the boat and tried to use it but such a large boat was too much trouble for me so i sold it and bought the smaller cheaper! rig in case i do screw something up. For the gripe the idiots that spend 30,000 or more on a bass boat but have a piece of @!$% vehicle to TRY and pull it out and burn rubber and have there buddy jumping up and down on the bumper trying to get the thing out of the water!!!
  5. Odnor,i just sold to a site member a hummingbird piranha 10 portable sonar with a suction cup transducer that you could stick to the side or bottom of a canoe or use a transom adapter clamped to the side of the canoe.Eagle ,lowrance make them also and are higher quality than those watch types.
  6. I'm writing this to hopefully help and educate those interested in buying a small boat and need a little guidance, now this is from my experience.I recently bought a war eagle 1436 with the low front deck installed with the sliding rear seat to fish smaller lakes and rivers with and this is what i experienced.I purchased this size for the fact that it was rated for a 20 hp engine and i installed a four stroke 9.9 johnson on it.The first thing noted is that it did wobble a little when you tried moving from front to back,i'd run the outboard the wife would sit in the front seat minuse the pedestal, when we would swap seats you'd have to stay near the center of the boat or she'd rock from side to side.Interior room was smaller than i thought to with a small drink cooler and a bag with towels, food etc left little room in the floor area. Now to the performance, she'd get up on plane in a fairly timely manner, but no speed demon at all,i'll have to play with the tilt feature more.If i had it to do again i would ompt for a 14' with a beam of 48" for it's stableness even if i had to up the horsepower. One other thing with the low front deck it was tight with the footcontroll trolling motor,a hand model bow mounted would have served much better. In this size boat i think it would be about perfect in river settings and shallow water cove fishing.
  7. I got it honest, both grandparents fished heavily,my late dad fished just as much,i don't fish as much as i use too since his death, everyone that still has there fathers, grandfathers, spend time fishing with them you never know when it will end...Have reels from my granddad and fathers that doesn't get used anymore, are in shadowboxes, old zebco 44's,a 66 spincaster,a old #1 of granddads, garcia 5000's of dads.
  8. I am in the backwards group, when my dad was alive we fished larger lakes, santee, kerr lake, gaston and always had a larger boat,17',when he died i got the boat, tried using it by myself and ended up selling it for fear of damaging it loading, etc.I just recently bought a war eagle welded small boat 1436 with a johnson 9.9 and have not water crissened it yet but for my purpose less money was better spent. This weekend may be the weekend it needs!
