I know the formulas for rated a specific hp for x boat but how many of you have actually been checked for too much motor on your boat.Reason i asked i called yamaha today inquiring about a rumor of the demise of the 2 stroke 25 (isn't true)they do have two new 4 strokes,a 15 and 20 and asked the gentleman what would happen if i placed a 25 on a boat rated for a 20.He said that the four stroke 20 was 8 pounds heavier than the 2 stroke 25,the only potential problem would be thrust of the tiller on that size boat.He did say the guage of the aluminum and that it was welded with a solid floor would be sturdier than others. He said game wardens never look at a small sized engine on most boats unless the boat sits in the water much lower in the back than normal.What do you think? :-?

For 150.00 you can get a eagle 320,a eagle 250 for 129.00,a lowrance x86ds for 150.00 which looks like the eagle 250 but black.Smaller units like a cuda by eagle or a lowrance x52 same thing but black.Hummingbird 525 for 129.00,535 for 149.00,or cheaper still a pirahna series under 100.00.garmin makes several under 150.00 too,also look at cabelas and bass pro's bargain section for closeout models.One question while on this subject , lowrance and eagle are the same company owned by lei but i have been told by several people the lowrance brands have better electronics in there units than the eagle brand and of course the colors are different, is this true?

Way2slow,question on your comment nothing should be connected to the trolling motor but itself,if you only have one battery and a tiller manual start motor where do you hook the depth finder positive, negative too then?Buy another battery for the depthfinder?Mines hooked to the trolling motor battery,don't think it draws enought to make a difference. :-?

I ordered that mount from cabelas last night,good price,will enable me to mount vertical and twist upwards for the front deck then turn down when using outboard motor.

Looking into a ram micro mount for a depth finder,anyone use these and why.

I changed my response,talked to yamaha in georgia and they told me the 25 hp 2 strokes were going to be still made and that there 4 stroke line had included a 15 and 20 hp but at a higher weight than the 25 2 stroke.

Dcl 27 with the ad it said used once,most times if you see this that means little time to use it or ya want something else.I have little time left on a deal i was trying for so for the weekend i'll put it on here and see if i have any bites. The guys at work says i should pull the boat from under that carport and put it beside the road with a sign on it ,said that thing looks like its never touched the water,not even a scratch on the hull!I'm afraid if left without a eye on it these days someone will try and steal something,he!! poor people that brake down beside the road can't even come back the next day without a brick crunked threw there back window... :-[

Just wondered how many of you take along spare parts for your boat trailer? I need to buy a spare tire,rim assy and thought of buying a hub assembly just in case something bad happens.Also plan on buying new bearings,races,seal but i guess i have to take my old ones out to know what i have.Already got a scissor jack in the back! :-?

Might try looking at wesco and long trailer site online and see if you can find something there.I know there least expensive trailers the 600 model with 8" tires is only 400.00-500.00 dollars.

Chris,bass pro had the eagle color graph on sale last week for 149.95 but it only had the 3 1/2" screen size.I would try and find a larger screen size than that unless its right at me. :-?

Dave,i sent you a pm,as far as the trolling motor,unless you are to do some mods up front,a rear transom tiller would be fine,a small 36 pound thrust would work fine,when not in use loosen the shaft nut and slide the unit upwards out of the water.I will agree on the 10 hp motor the rear transom fiberglass may not stand the force of a 15 pushing that river boat.

Well it looks like i'll have the boat awhile,guess they were comparing a riveted boat to a welded boat and thought they could buy it for the price of a riveted boat?I already had ordered accessories for it which are on it now. :

One thing to remember,there are people playing golf there that also like to fish, with your presense,they also may ask permission to fish.I would fish the ponds early in the morning before the golfers get to that hole the ponds near,if that makes sense.

From small area lakes like lake wheeler near raleigh,to gaston,kerr,falls lake.Jordan and sharron harris are normally too crowded.With the small boat i'm somewhat limited to where i can go.I try and stay up in the creeks in the larger lakes like gaston and kerr.I'm going to venture toward the mountains more to try the smallies in those lakes out there.

Yes this may sound dumb but...,on my gas tank plastic omc it says to shut off the vent plug when not in use,but with this 100 degree weather that tank is swelling up and when i relieve the vent cap screw boy does it spew some fumes!Should i close the vent like the tank says or leave it open when not in use? :-?

I cannot reply on the size boat you're interested in but the brand War Eagle is a excellant boat,attention to detail,i have the smaller model with a tiller motor,choice of seven camo patterns or standard colors,they will basically outfit the boat the way you want,longer decks seats in various places,boxes for storage,etc.Most companies make a model one or two ways and thats it.War eagle has many options to choose from, but are one of the most expensive also.On my little boat they were around 600-800 dollars more than a similiar roughneck,alumacraft,weldcraft etc.

If you are looking for a small boat ebay has a ted williams 12' fiberglass boat with a 8 hp motor and long trailer,believe a 73' model but the thing looks like its never been used much!

I have a johnson 9.9 4 stroke,she runs real quite with no smoking, as for power it'll plane a 1436 war eagle but i feel a two stroke would push it a little faster.A motor this size will not plane a 16' boat i believe, if it would i'd kiss it every day!

You can expect buying a 14' boat with at least a 36" wide bottom by many companies,lowe,alumacraft,seaark,xpress,g3's in riveted between 800-1200 dollars.The money will be spent on the motor, for a 9.9 2 stroke 1500.00.Add a trolling motor bow for around 300-400,battery and seats another 150.00,oh and a trailer 500-600. Total at the cheapest=800.+1500.+300.+150.+500=3250.00,this is new though,if you look hard you can find seldom used ones cheaper but those will sell real fast,you know the ones that someone had to have but never used... :-/
