I don't think a 1/0 EWG is a good choice for much of anything. I believe hook style on this small of bait would benefit from a offset round bend. Even a small 1/0 offset round bend would work much better with this style of bait. I would suggest a 3/0 offset round bend.

Yes x2 You can add a small amount of your favorite attractant to the bag and it helps soften / lubricate them. Also might make a fish hold on longer if you buy into that sales pitch.

Not saying fluoro wont get more depth but 1 foot doesn't seem to be a big difference considering the drop in test. Ill keep my easy to deal with mono. I can drop from 12lb to 10lb and gain a foot no problem.

^^^ I agree I have a Lew's reel that was a "made for Walmart" it has never been on their website and not even listed on the page where you register for the warranty. I had to call to be told what reel to select just to submit the registration. Lew's acted like they wanted no part of it even though it had their logo/name on it. The woman explained the exact same "made for Walmart" story. I would assume the rods are the same.

I wish my Walmart would drop the price on ours down to $3-4. They have about 20 packs of 4 in 3/16oz all on the clearance rack marked $5ea. I haven't had any issues with the Strike King. I have ECO brand as well with no issues.

Use what knot you like if you feel that snell is doing it for you cool. But the Palomar has been hooking bass without a problem for decades. It's proven reliable strong and quick to tie. I see no reason to change for me.

I just got 3 bags to try myself. Was going to try them tomorrow but it may have to wait. I can say comparison before fishing they seem to be a nice replacement for the originals. A fraction smaller diameter but 1/2" longer. They feel really similar to the touch. I'm anxious to try them.myself.

Using my engine building knowledge and how reels work precision will be key to actually making a aftermarket piece that performs better than the original piece. But as will anything mass produced it can be made better if your willing and able to do the work.

Oh I didn't understand exactly what the original post was about. Your looking for a good block 350 or 454 to punch out put some good flowing heads on and a nice solid roller cam to make it talk to ya. I can't help with reels in that respect. I'm not sure there are any that got a aftermarket base to do that with unless you have a machine shop willing to make custom parts. All I see retail is handles star drag and some spools for some real.

Just about any time the bite is slow. I also use the slower action paca craws flipping since it a reaction not a presentation that is getting the strike in most cases. And these slide through nasty cover very good. And clear or light stained water where lifelike visual presentation is more likely the meal of the day vs a non visual bite like one based on water displacement or noise. Faster action craws would be the opposite situations for me.
