  1. Good luck. My wife has been teaching for 20 years. Be prepared for your summers off with training and more schooling, followed by 60 hour work weeks through the school year. All in all though, it is very rewarding. And your snow days will be filled with grading and prep. Just remember cheese-its and beer are the official snack of grading.
  2. Invest in the best rod you can afford unless you must purchase two to fulfill a gap in some technique specific presentations.
  3. Wow, that is a lot of grease. When I saw the pic, I just about fell out of my chair. I would clean it and start over. It should look something like this......
  4. The original Flappin Hog. I have tried the new version and it has been just OK. It's been so long though, I could not tell you the difference between the two.
  5. I like the 30 size reel for bass but that is just me I guess. I think it will be a good combo. But it were me, I would save up a few more bucks and get the avid.
  6. Looks cool. I wonder if it will carry the $500 price tag like the Revo MGXtreme?
  7. I am an opportunist. So if I see it, like, and it's on sale, I might jump on it. Otherwise, I keep my eyes open for last years latest greatest gear clearenced out. There are some exceptions, if it is a set price piece of equipment I want, I save my money and wait.
  8. Keitech salty core stick. I am sure it fishes just like every other stick bait. Ima crankbaits.
  9. There so much junk in mine it doesn't rattle anymore. All except for the goat bell. It annoys everybody.....
  10. I stopped watching Nascar about the same time Gordon became popular. Did I miss anything? The actual last race I watched had a foreign object fall of Gordon's car and implode the car behind him. It looked like an extra fuel tank. Nascar made no comment on the matter. I was done after that.
  11. Sensitivity can be very subjective. It all depends on your prior fishing experience. If you want to invest in a more sensitive rod and the mojo is what you are trying to compare things to, I would say step up to the Avid. You will see a noticeably different feel in this rod. As far as a test goes, I personally feel you have to fish the rod to get a clear idea of how it will perform, again subjective.
  12. I have been wanting to see this movie so bad. I just have not had the time. I watched an interview with Bradley Cooper and Taya. It was amazing to learn what they went through just to film the movie.
  13. Just bought some. I have not fished them yet but looks like the best soft bait I've ever seen.
  14. Up to a few years ago, I had an old ryobi saltwater reel. Not much of a treasure but it lasted. After that I had a my Zebco 33 and Zebco bullet. All of these reels got a proper burial. Currently though, I have a Shimano Stradic and Core that are 8 years old. These reels are like new and still going strong.
  15. I just thought I would pass this along. I hate to see accidents like this happen. http://www.mywabashvalley.com/story/d/story/update-drowning-deaths/35564/tNiR_2tg-Eq8xkykYWaAIQ
  16. If bearings are toast, Boca Abec 5 ceramics but like I said, the stock bearings on this reel are great as is.
  17. Sounds like you are trying to tackle a lot of species with one set up. Not sure one set up is going to do it. If it were me and you like Pflueger, the president would be a fine reel which would give you a couple of extra bucks to invest in a better rod.
  18. Personal opinion, I never buy reels that are branded with a person/fisherman's name on it.
  19. I have the 51e. I see nothing wrong with the stock bearings. I cleaned mine and relubed. The reel will cast a mile and feels awesome.
  20. Great bait. I like the darker shad colors better than most.
  21. I texas rig them most of the time. I just have more success that way.
  22. No but I would like to. I have a few tackle boxes from falcon for cranks and jerkbaits but everything else are plano big boxes. I guess I like things organized.
  23. I live on the north side of Indy and can't wait to see it open but the last time I went to BPS in Louisville they seemed liked they downsized a ton. Angler's World in Greenfield had more tackle and they only have about 1000 sq ft. I won't hold my breathe, but it will be nice to have another option.
  24. Nice but they look like some current Daiwas. The new Zillion does look amazing though.
