  1. Awesome, simply awesome. Let us know how they fish.
  2. I like 15lb P-Line Floroclear and Yo Zuri Hybrid 10lb.
  3. The BaitMonkey says, thank you.
  4. I too have had issues with these jigs. They looked impressive at first but I bought four and have lost two. The worst thing though, I have caught ZERO fish with them. I don't get it. I have used other jigs without any issues and have caught several fish.
  5. I probably fish for more largemouth than anything else but I would rather be catching smallmouth. The seem to be getting harder to find in my neck of the woods.
  6. IMHO, this is how I have seen the serious crappie fisherman do it. They will always have several rods set up in rod holders on their boat with them set at various depths. The one thing that gets me though is how they manage not to get tangled. Me, I am more of a hands on kind of guy when it comes to fishing.
  7. A buddy of mine that I work with just told me that he has seen the Core in a left handed model at a local tackle shop. He said that they came in on Tuesday 2/12. Can you guys confirm this? I checked Shimano's website and they do not show a 101 model. All I use are left handed baitcaster, so that darn baitmonkey has started talking to me again.
  8. That would be a BIG no-no for me. When fishing for smallmouth, the bite is often a reaction strike, but with largemouth it's more often "feeding" or purely inquisitive. Some of my biggest bass caught on tubes have been picked up when the lure is sitting. (Originally the Gitzit was designed as a "do nothing" lure). Scent and texture are VERY important attributes of soft plastics, especially tubes. As alternatives, I recommend Micro Munch Tackle El Gordo, Mizmo Big Boys for largemouth and 3 1/2" Mizmos for smallmouth (Kent's Clasic, squash green). 8-) RW, Do you know of any of the big chain stores or some one online that might have Micro Munch Tackle tubes? My local tackle shop does not carry them.
  9. There are six to a pack and they cost $6. At a buck a piece, I may not be buying these to often. One other thing, they smell like a new rubber tire. The stench is pretty strong. I may be putting some sort of attractent on them.
  10. That's funny stuff... goofy but funny. If anything, you got to love the boat.
  11. When I buy a new hard bait, I look at every single one of that particular lure that is on the shelf. I lay them all out and pick which one is best for color and quality. When I buy softplastic, I will take it out of the package, feel it and smell it. Buying a reel and rod could take all day. Not only am I looking for the best deal, I am looking for it to be perfect. I will take a reel apart, mount it to a rod and if necessary, I have had sales people spool a few up for me to test out in the store. It can get ugly. When it comes to using equipment, I am perfectly happy as long as I'm fishing.
  12. I had to go with a Smallmouth. I hooked a 4lb last year and thought I had at least an 7-8lb Largemouth. It was one the hardest fighting freshwater fish I have ever caught.
  13. My wife stopped by a tackle shop and picked me a couple of things for Valentine's Day. One of them happened to be a pack of Reaction Strike Tubes. The tackle shop had just put them on the shelf. It has to be one of the weirdest tube baits I have ever seen. They look like some one made a tube bait out of a softplastic minnow. I couldn't find them on their website but I did find a link for a Texas tackle shop that has them. Let me know what you guys think..... http://www.texasbasstackle.com/Scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=734
  14. This is my shoe of choice for the wet stuff and everyday fishing. http://www.merrell.com/Product/NZGP/Mens-Active-Footwear/Hiking/Mens/Chameleon-Wrap-Gore-Tex-XCR.aspx
  15. WOW I would love to see that funny colored Zillion hit the US.
  16. I just bought my first one of these last week in the M. Hasu color. I can't wait to use it. It is the most detailed bait I have ever seen. It's so PRETTY though, it may never leave it's case.
  17. Anybody try this stuff? I like to try out a new line every year and this one is on my list of choices. Any opinions would be great....... http://www.***.com/descpageLINEDAIWA-DSF.html
  18. Looks like a good idea but couldn't you a complish the same thing with the correct jig head? Also, tungsten is supposed to be harder than lead. Why is the weight on their website so beat up looking? I might eventually try these things but based on what I've seen, I'll pass for now.
  19. I owned several two piece rods over the years and never cared for them. IMHO, a one piece rod is more sensitive and after having an old catfish rod come apart when I was reeling in an average size cat, I won't buy one again.
  20. That's too funny.... Here are a few approx. figures to ponder from the US Census...... 300,000,000 US Population 51,000,000 Hospitalized with a Major Mental/Physical Illness 14,000,000 Suffer from Schiztophrenia or Dimmensia at Home 80,000,000 Age 0-10 and 85+ 2,000,000 Are in Jail 1,000,000 Are Blind That leaves about 150,000,000 to 200,000,000 from the age of 11-84 whom are able to have a gun. So if 80,000,000 own a gun that's about 1 out of every 2 people that are age 11-84 and are physically capable of holding a gun, have one.
  21. I got to get a close look at one of these over Christmas time and it is a nice bait but I don't see where it would be any better than a regular LC pointer. It's hard enough to shell out $15 for the regular Pointer. Why I spend another $5?
  22. One more shot with Eddie Van Halen.
  23. Here is another one of my favorites. He has not been mentioned yet. If you're a fan of Glenn Campbell, you might like it.
  24. I have a 5 year old daughter and this hits pretty close to home, except she went after the dog food/bisquits and the dog's water. Our version of tea and cookies.
  25. How about a Shimano Citica? It's not on your list buy you can pick one up for $85 with a rebate. It's a good, easy to use, solid performing reel.
