Tube Bait?
Each year I try to work on a technique I don't use often or is new to me and this year it will be fishing a tube. You guys got a favorite brand, color and way to rig it? I usually use Berkley or Zoom and a 1/4 oz tube hook. Thanks for any info.

Johnny Morris Signature Series Baitcast Reel
I went to their spring sale last year with the same expectation of buying the JM reel that was in the ad. Once I looked at, I asked old timer there what the deal was and I was told it was a reel made just for the sale not an older model. He then took the reel apart to show me the details of it and I noticed that it was loaded with grease and oil. The box was similar in looks and color as the current model. Don't get me wrong but this form of sales just bothers me. How would any of us feel if we got an ad that said Shimano Curado (or whatever reel) on sale $125 and went to the store to find it to be a different reel? Not a good way to do business. I would hope that BPS would make a consumer look at it and compare the product to the current model before they buy so they can make an informed decision.

Are Tru-Tungsten Jigs worth the price?
I saw these at local bait shop. They looked awesome but at $6 a piece are they worth it? I am bid fan of their worm weights but I have been happy with Booyah Jigs for so long I find it hard to change. Anybody got any thoughts on these things?

BAIT MONKEY IS CALLING ME! SHOULD I ANSWER?
BPS has an annual sale every spring. They usual have a reel trade in sale. You bring a old banged up reel, they will donate it and give you a discount towards a new one. Bad thing though about it though was last year Shimano did not participate. As far as deals go right now, I have been getting some great prices on stuff at Dicks Sporting Goods. All stuff I have found has been on clearance. I have purchased a couple of St. Croix Avid rods for around $65-$75 and a Shimano Stradic 2500 for $65 with a coupon. You can usually find a buy $50 and get $10 off coupon in either the paper or on line. Just like you mentioned Senkos, I will wait till spring, they will have them for 20% off, I buy 11 packs at $4.80 per pack instead of $6, use a $10 off coupon and that makes them $3.90 a pack. Not as good as *** but still a good deal. Also, Dicks will usually put a coupon in the paper for 20% off any one fisging item in the spring. So keep your eyes open.

Recomendations on a tackle box
I have the large BPS Extreme worm bag and it fantastic. It holds just about everyting under the sun. It has survived mud, rain and a drop in the water. I have been very pleased with it and would highly recommend it.

I Am Legend
I got the book for Christmas and it was just OK. I remember the Charleston Heston version of the film and it was again just OK at the time. With the new movie out, I would doubt that it would be much of an improvement over the original story. I guess I will wait till it comes out on cable or DVD to see it.

castability of mono or flourocarbon on a baitcaster
I have tried several flourocarbons and I have only found one that has been affordable and of good quality > Berkely Trilene Professional Flourocarbon. I used it on two different setups last year, one for cranks and the other for softplastics. Both worked great. I have yet to find anything bad to say about this line.

Need help picking my next rod
I'd go for the St.Croix Avid AS68MXF. Great rod for soft plastic. I picked mine up at Dicks for $65 after coupons and a clearance discount. The Dicks by me is sold out but you might ask a salesman their if they could order you one from another store. I just picked up the last one they had (ASMHF66) for $65. The salesman offered to check for more but I'm good for now. :

Someone get this monkey of my back!!!
Where did you get all this stuff used? Sounds like you made some good deels, especially the Loomis and the Steeze. I would give the Steeze a try on the loomis and see what it feels like.

Shimano's new spinning reel line up opinions anyone?
I have not seen the new Saros but I got the new Stradic for Christmas and it is a sweet reel. It as smooth if not smoother than my older Sustain. I had a chance to cast it around over the holidays before the artic air moved in and it was a pleasure to play with. I have yet to catch anything of course but spring will be here soon enough. I will give it a full season of fishing and abuse before I say it is as good a value as the old Stradics.

I am actually thinking about buying a Shimano reel.
The Symetre 2500, as others have suggested, would be a great reel. For a couple of more bucks you might look at the new Saros if they have them in stock.

Suggestions for Ultralight tackle
I like using Mepps #1 or #2 inline spinnerbaits and an occasional heavy fly. You might also give some 3in senkos a try or some small grubs.

Shallow Crankbaits
Don't give up on these yet. I have had great success with the Moonsaults and the Fat CB's. I have the best luck with them when I fish parallel to the bank casting over cover.

Jig and a trailer?
I like to use Boohay Jigs with Zoom Chunk trailers and sometimes I will pick up a jar of Uncle Josh's trailers. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10151&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&partNumber=7519&hvarTarget=search&cmCat=SearchResults

wanted new loomis swimbait rod?
If you want to try a different route, a buddy of mine fishes a St.Croix Legend Tournament Big Jig rod for swimbaits and has great success with this setup. I have seen this rod on clearance a few places for around $150.

Dollar-for-dollar, is e21's Carrot Stix the best?
IMHO, these rods have not been proven yet. It is new technology and should be treated as such. Some might have a different opinion on this rod this time next year. It may end up, like say the Revos. Which seemed to start out as though people had a hard time excepting a good low profile reel from Abu Garcia but in the end they turned out to be quite good. Only time will tell. Until then I will remain a skeptic. Maybe after a whole season of fishing by a few members, I will change my tone. But far as Dollar for Dollar goes, the St. Croix Avid gets my vote. It simply gets the job done and is still a lot of fun to fish.

Another "I Need some help/opinions on reel selection" thread...
I picked the Stradic. Simply put, it just a fantastic reel. I also like the Quantum Energy Pti-a 20. It is a tank compared to most. I have two of them and they have worked out great so far but I get the sense that they might not last as long as my Stradic.

Specialty Tackle Junior D?
Thanks for the info. They only had a few colors of these at the shop I went to. Most looked liked they had been there for quite some time. Maybe when I stop there again I will pick one up.

Specialty Tackle Junior D?
Has anybody tried one of these lures? I saw one at a local bait shop and it looked impressive. I googled it and came up with a review from Tackle Tour but I'm open to other opinions. http://www.tackletour.com/reviewjuniord.html

Patriots 16-0
I am big Colts fan, so you can only guess how I feel about the Pats. They do have a great team though but as a football nut I notice a lot of BS on the field and the Pats. do deserve that *. The sad things is they are good enough not resort to the stuff they do. I don't feel sorry for the teams they beat but I do feel for the 1972 Dolphins (not a Dolphin fan either). My hope is that they will get Ed Hockley for a Ref. and good, fast exit out of the post season. ;D

Lipless crank depths
It depends on the weight, type, how long you let it sink and speed of your retrieve. For instance Lucky Craft makes some that are designed to run at specific depths, provied you don't let is sink to the bottom. For me I use 1/2oz or 3/4oz lipless cranks. I let them drop at about a 1foot per second and start a medium to fast retrieve (depending on which reel I am using).

Scents on Crankbaits
I tried some YUM scent on crank and it stained the crank. It didn't seem to make any difference far as catching fish since I didn't catch one on this setup.

How do YOU fish a Swimming Senko?
Here are the two ways I fish it. 1. I Texas rig it with a 3/16oz weight and fish like a regular senko but not with as many quick jerks. 2. I fish with a 3/16 or 1/4oz screw in weight and use a slow retrieve with small pauses sort of like a crankbait. Both have worked equally as well but I tend to catch more fish with the regular senkos.
