  1. Hm, can not find any of these.
  2. But that would need to be the previous version, not the 2021 version. I have had the older Zillion and now have the 2021 Zillion. The 2021 is not the best skipper in my opinion. Comparing my Daiwas with SV spool [Steez CT, Alpha CT SV. Steez SV TW, Steez A (with Steez SV spool)], for the money I would definitely recommend the Alpha. Only slight negatives for the Alpha are: Line capacity with heavier line (which does not really matter if you use the reel only for skipping. Line retrieve: it is not the fastest, but still good enough in my opinion I would take the Alpha over the Tatulas every day, it also comes very close to my Steez CT.
  3. Have a look at the Alpha CT SV. I think this one is even better for skipping than the Tatula. https://fishing.asian-portal.shop/category/select/cid/352/bid/48/pid/272254
  4. Interesting observation of the Super Destroyer. I have mine spooled up with #14 Sniper FC and have been using her as a tight area -chatterbait combo. A few weeks back I hooked into a 4-5# bass at the California Delta in open water. The fish pulled me into a submerged tree and though I tried very hard, I was not able to pull the fish away from the cover and eventually lost the fish. So, comparing it with other rods that I own, I would put the rod a bit above the NRX 893c but quite a bit below a NRX 804c. Given my experience with the rod, I switched to be more of a lighter texas rig combo, rather than be a hard fighting power combo. @Badersnatch: How do you compare the SD with the TS that you own? I had the TS on order but swapped it for the SD, because I just did not want to wait any longer. Cheers guys!
  5. A couple of months back I got a deal from my trusted dealer. But these discounts dried out quickly due to low stock.
  6. Yeah, the challenge currently for me is the time of cast. That is where I hold the rod purely on the grip and that is when it could slip. Once the the lure is in the water, I usually change my grip and adjust my hand to palm the reel. At this point the rod handle becomes less important, since the grip comes from palming the reel. I usually wear a Simms SolarFlex Guide Gloves that has a good leader layer that also adds some grip.
  7. Thanks for the reply! I went with a NrX 804c (steez a + steez sv tw spool) for my skipping activities and the super destroyer (2021 zillion) as my chatterbait/ spinnerbait set up for the kayak. The SD is indeed a very special rod. Looks great, has a very cool action and soo light and nimble. Only challenge i have is the handle. It gets slippery very quickly.
  8. The Dobyns jig is a great one! I would say it is among the best in the industry. And this is an amzing price. I dont fish 3/4 or 1 oz jigs a lot. But i still ordered jigs for almost 100usd. At this price it will keep my heavy jig needs covered for a couple of years.
  9. Yeah, sorry. My sentence didn't make sense. lol. I was wondering why you chose a rod that is known for its sensitivity for a technique where sensitivity is not really critical. Your reply, pointing out weight, makes sense. Thanks for the reply!
  10. Isnt his rod a little bit overkill for that rod? Dont get me wrong I have some 500+ swimbait rods as well, but shouldnt a Conquest be used for techniques where sensitivity is crucial? Just curious.
  11. Thanks a lot for taking the time to do this test! I went a different direction. I ordered a NRX 893c for the technique in question and a Megabass Tachyon Shaft, since this seems to be the most sensitive rod in the Megabass line up (or so they claim) and it is great for kayak fishing. Have not received either but will report back, once I have.
  12. Yep, i think you are right on the tip guess. One could ask then why it took them so freaking long to make such a simple change. Lets wait for the first pics/ reliable info to pop up.
  13. Could be. Of course a lot of speculation. But if they did do that, what would be the difference between the new NRX and the Conquest line up? The blank? Also, how would they position this new NRX line towards their Conquest line up? If they price it higher, who would buy such 800USD rod? If they priced it lower (as current NRX), who would buy the Conquest still?
  14. They are supposed to be announced by end of March/early April. I just ordered a NRX 893c. I thik the new ones will have Torzite guides, full grip (and hence be a bit heavier), but will also be probably in the price range of the Conquest. Since I dont think you can get more sensitive than a 893c, I just pulled the trigger (with a 20% discount).
  15. With whom did you talk? Their guys on the call lines dont know much. Bit i know from a big retailer that their announcement is not too far out.
  16. I have the St. Croix Legend Elite 7'4h. It is agreat rod, but in my opinion, the tip is too soft for throwing heavy jigs (in cover). I use it as a moving bait rod for spinner and chatterbaits. If you can wait. Maybe wait till the end of March, when the new NRX are rumored to be announced'. I would then get the equivilant of the 905/895 (that is hopefully better balanced) and be done with it
  17. When you are talking about 1.5oz one should consider an extra heavy. For that technique i personally us a Daiwa Steez AGS 7'9 XH. There more affordable options available. Shimano exprides are a decent buy.
  18. Whats ur budget? Any brand preferences? What lure weight do you want to throw?
  19. You might want to update the title of your post then, since it mentions the '21 Zillion.
  20. I think he is talking about the 2021 veraion of the Zillion which retails for 349usd msrp in the usa when it is released
  21. Hi there! I am in the market for a dedicated skipping rod from the P5 line up as well. I am looking also at the SD and the TS. Sine you have both, which would you recommend and why if you had to select a rod that combines sensitivity with skipping skills. Thanks a lot!
  22. Decided to go with the NRX 893c. Had a long look at other rods, but it is THE NRX to have in the line up and also provides one of the best warranties out there, it was hard to pass on. Also got a good deal on one, now the waiting begins!
  23. Yes it is. Check this one out:
  24. In this price range you would need to stick with the Daiwa DX. Dobyns rods are very missleading in their lure rating. To throw a 5 ounce lure comfortably you would need to go to a 806/807 in my opinion. Check Sportmanoutfitters. They had a 20% off on Dobyns if I recall correctly.
  25. Yeah, in my experience, the coating still wears off rather quickly. Memory can be somewhat addressed with line conditioner.
