New G Loomis NRX Bass Rod

Featured Replies

I'm hearing some NEW sneaky rumors about G Loomis making a change. I'm hearing a new NRX bass rod could be coming. From talking to Loomis they are talking about all NRX models not being in stock until August. While I understand the factory was closed (but now open) one wouldn't think that August would be the date, you'd think that they would be releasing some as they make them. Anybody want to participate in the rumors ?? Fyi I broke my NRX and have been waiting for a replacement. They offered me a Conquest in replace but I'm holding out to see what's next. I was hoping for a 894 but they are out of stock

    Bragging rights.....

  • I got the 873+. The sensitivity is just unreal. Prior to getting bites, it almost is difficult to tell the difference between that and my Dobyns champion extreme. Then...the bite occurs and it feels l

Ok. I can give a brief assessment. I got my new NRX+ 873CRR last night. I took it out to a local community dock for a little testing. It was paired with an Antares and spooled up with Hitena 43lb Supe

That would make sense. Their new fly rods have the name 'plus' as well. Full cork? yes please.

I just wish they would sell the blanks.  I'd love to build one to see what the hype is all about.

Guess I'll be the one, I hope it isn't full cork. One of the reasons I sold my IMX pros for NRX's is I much prefer split grip rods.

Are they gonna add $200 to the price like st croix did with the xtremes?

For a lot of guys, a price increase would be the main selling feature.

What's that supposed to mean?

I don't think they will increase the price beyond the conquest.  Any idea when they will come out?

Any additional rumors?

They are supposed to be announced by end of March/early April.

I just ordered a NRX 893c. I thik the new ones will have Torzite guides, full grip (and hence be a bit heavier), but will also be probably in the price range of the Conquest.

Since I dont think you can get more sensitive than a 893c, I just pulled the trigger (with a 20% discount).

So essentially nrx stiffer blank with a conquest body and guides, sounds like a winner if they figure out how to balance them.

Could be. Of course a lot of speculation. But if they did do that, what would be the difference between the new NRX and the Conquest line up? The blank? Also, how would they position this new NRX line towards their Conquest line up? If they price it higher, who would buy such 800USD rod? If they priced it lower (as current NRX), who would buy the Conquest still?

If they kept the blank, balanced it better, upgraded the guides, they could sell imo for $600 retail. Who would buy it? The people that want the faster blank, I guess... Conquest doesn't have a really fast blank like the NRX does

Yep, i think you are right on the tip guess.

One could ask then why it took them so freaking long to make such a simple change.

Lets wait for the first pics/ reliable info to pop up.

they have full cork and they are more expensive, I try my best to find out why they have that price rising, Are they going to put spiral X around it? with full cork? so it will be conquest :)

Conquest with a few recoil guides I gather...

I just hope they change the ugly light baby blue guide wrappings.

That's the only reason, I've never owned one.

Talked to a guy I know, tackle store owner, he told me they're going to use the "NRX+" name, same as they did with their fly rods. He's expecting them to have Torzite guides, although he couldn't confirm that with the local Shimano rep.

@mrpao they look worse in photos than in reality. Same goes for the neon green wrap on the E6X. But they're still fugly. The baby blue isn't the worst part, the green on top of it is. That being said, I love my 802, even with wraps only a parent could love ?

Bummer, I won't be buying any more NRX rods if they're full cork.
