  1. I use mine for swimbaits. Gloomis IMX pro SWB 862, 10lb braid, 8 lb floro leader, 1/4 ounce jig head, Keitech 3.3 impact fat. Killer rig for smallmouth.
  2. Zoom super fluke in patches in pads and under trees or overhanging brush. Pitch and twitch.
  3. One of my favorite baits for small mouth. They straight up will catch fish. I prefer the dark brown color, cant remember the name of it. 1/4 ounce 2 and 3 inch versions. They will get hung up quick though, wood and rock are the enemies to the dark sleeper. I run them on a bottom contact rig, Megabass brailest for the heavier ones, Mebagass Enforcer for the little ones.
  4. Ive used many over the years but when I got ahold of the Gloomis NRX+ 852s ( medium ) I have had no need to switch out to anything else. So with that said Medium for me.
  5. Weightless fluke matching the hatch...That or wacky senko
  6. Smallies- wacky senco followed by Keitech swimbait Largemouth - Top water followed by flukes
  7. I really like suffix 832. Not that I prefer it to any other brands, I just got some years ago and it worked perfectly for my finesse rigs. No real reason to switch if Ive had no issues. Hi viz yellow 8, 10, 12, and 15 pound..
  8. Ive found that if my lake isnt working for frogs I will break out a fluke rig. Zoom super flukes rigged weightless pitched into hole in the pads or on edges produce for me without getting hung up like jigs do. Higher in the water column and all. Pitch and twitch.
  9. Jackson big rig...Ive seen a few BIG guys in them...Stable boat.
  10. I think after all these years Ive finally gotten to the point where I love braid to leader rigs. Chasing smallmouth in clear water its a necessity. I prefer 10, and 15lb sufix 832 hi viz yellow to 8lb flouro leader. The largest Ive pulled in was a bit shy of 7 pounds with no issues. I do run straight 30lb on my frog rod and whopper plopper rigs though.
  11. That exact thing happened to me yesterday. Horrible weather, rain wind, chop on water and vision 110 was really getting them to bite. At one point I was 6 fish for 9 casts. Then it calmed down, lake went to glass and the bite stopped. Pulled a couple on Ned rig but definitely night and day.
  12. I use profanity way too much. I was born into it I guess. My parents cussed. In the military we cussed, as a security contractor we cussed, in law enforcement we cussed constantly. Now Im in the trades and as you guessed thats the norm as well. With my three sons coming of age and hunting, shooting and fishing with me Ive learned to watch what I say, them little men are sponges. It hasn't been easy as sometimes I do it and not even notice but Im trying.
  13. This. It's like golf clubs. I prefer to roll up into my spot and just reach down and grab what I need for what I think works. Tying in the boat is not my favorite.
  14. Gloomis NRX+ 852 spinning rod/ Shimano stradic 2500 with suffix 15lb braid and Daiwa 8lb leader and 1/0 drop shot hook.
  15. I do alot of smallmouth jerk bait fishing. I found the Megabass orrochi ronin to be my favorite.
  16. Ive been using Abu's for years and years. I have to agree, seems like in the last ten years or so they have gotten cheaper and cheaper. More issues. Ive slowly switched over to Daiwa and Shimano.
  17. You're going to love it. I went to a NRX+ last year early season after owning a handful of other Loomis and was so impressed. They make amazing products.
  18. This is my 17th year in a kayak for bass fishing. Ive owned Jackson, Ocean Kayak, Old town, Wilderness, native and bonafide. I really like the ss127 but the Rvr does not impress me. In fact the SS is a good boat, but not great. Bonafide has taken over the market by marketing, and having alot of product on hand for fast shipping but in the end I feel they are not as much R/D based as they let on. Their competitors just arent making enough boats. The RVR is another case of them making a boat that lacks many things needed that they are advertised for. So hard pass for me.
  19. I fish out of two different Yaks. Bonafide ss127 and a wilderness ATAK 140. Both of which have pods which Ive found to be beneficial for mounting my Hummingbird helix 7s. It lets me take them out and lock them up in the truck while the boats are on the trailer if I go in a store or parked in a lot. Ive considered going to a helix 9 but space is tight, and the 7 DI has done me really well for what I use it for.
  20. I own the P5 landsat and purchased it for finesse and senko work. It is an amazing rod, super sensitive and great parabolic bend, but outside of SUPER light ned rigs its basically a dropshot rod. Senkos are way to heavy for my liking. I tried a ton of baits with it over the summer and really found that Dropshotting is where it shines. Id suggest a NRX 852
  21. 15lb suffix yellow braid to a 8lb Daiwa leader. 1/0 gamkatsu drop shot hook, sometimes a 2/0
