Transporting rods in a Golf Wagon
I used to have a car with a very flat headliner and I would use HD velcro strips to hold a rod or two upthere. Reels were removed obviously.

Baitcasting rod for plastics
I have a 783glx as well and while the glx is unquestionably more sensitive and lighter, the e6x feels better in hand. The glx has, in my opinion, far too long rear grip and I am not crazy about the reel seat. A 783glx blank built to mimic the e6x version would be about my ideal all-around rod.

Nicest combo out there
If I could go back in time, this is real close to what I would pick to start myself out on, very solid combos.

Weightless Finesse Setup (Baitcaster)?
Very nice dude!

Fluorocarbon line and superline hooks
I will say that while there are many ways to skin the "I want this senko to fall a little bit faster" cat, I am far more into crimping a tiny split shot on to a light wire hook then moving up to a heavy wire. The split shots do fall off very easily, but for weightless plastics I really really want the best chance at a hookset, even if I have to worry a bit more about landing them.

Florida Snakehead Fishing Tackle Tips...???
If you are heading to FL for snakeheads, take a long look at spending a day fishing for peacock bass as their habitat overlaps. I have only caught a handful of them, but they are like someone took a smallmouth, filled it with lead shot, and strapped a rocket to it. My biggest was maybe, maybe 16" and I have never been so sure that my rod was going to snap. I have caught 3/4 of a snakehead in FL. I got him right up to the bank before my line snapped. So I can report that a ML/MF rod and 10lb mono are a little light for that application ?

Dredge Arky 1/8 oz jigs limited run
I have been meaning for months to email you about cooking up a replacement for the discontinued Monars', I think you have saved me the trouble! I credit fishing tiny jigs with really helping me get comfortable with jig-fishing in general. The tiny ones get hit so often that I got a lot of practice detecting bites and setting the hook. I also like them for bank fishing riprap dams, the light heads don't seem to get caught up in the rocks as often as even a 1/4oz jig will. I am calling it now, tiny little jigs will be the hot lure for 2019.

Other Species Latest Catch Pics Thread
I thought I posted this weeks ago, but I guess not; My new PB snakehead at 5.98lbs, which I am just going to call 6lbs from now on. @Junger was nice enough to take me out on his boat again and I got it on a frog cast to up next to a beaver lodge. It was a crazy soft hit, I think Junger noticed it before I did, the frog was just there one moment, gone the next.

Very cool ned rig catch today
Every summer I catch at least one holdover stocked Rainbow when wading tiny rivers for smallies. I have no idea how they survive the summers in the warm, silty water we have, but they hit the Ned like a freight train.

Fluorocarbon line and superline hooks
My nephew has been doing very well on senkos rigged with like an 4/0-5/0 superline EWG fished on 10lb mono. He is fishing them on a MH Loomis MBR and seems to have little issue getting the hook set. My inclination is to use the thinnest, smallest hook I can get away with, but I can't argue with results.

8" Rage Tail Recon Worm
I kinda like the Recons, they (and all ribbed plastics) are great when I want to use scent or really want to slow-drag a worm. I use 10" Culprits most all the time when I fish a ribbon tail, but there are always a few Recons on hand if I really need to grind one out. They are pretty fragile though. I am sad to see them go, but not enough to go crazy and buy a million of them like my beloved Rage Shellcracker.

Storing Clam Shell Plastics
I keep maybe 4-5 at a time per slot in normal plano boxes. I have found that if I don't jam the slots full the tails don't really get bent.

Baitcasting rod for plastics
I have spent a little time fishing the E6X MBR 783 and it can comfortably cast down to like 1/4-5/16oz, which puts one into the "weightless Trickworm" range. The one I fished was the older model, by most accounts the 2018 ones are lighter and more sensitive.

Dredge Arky 1/8 oz jigs limited run
Out of curiosity, does the 1/8oz one have the same size hook as the 1/4oz one? 1/8oz jigs are an odd thing, some are closer to a "normal" bass jig while some are closer to a tiny crappie/panfish jig. I am always looking for ones that straddle the line, a strong enough hook to handle a good sized bass, but small enough that a rockstar panfish could still hit it and get hooked.

Dredge Arky 1/8 oz jigs limited run
Excellent. So that is like 5/16, or just about 7/16 with a baby Rage Craw trailer. Your 1/4oz heads with the same hook weigh .41oz, so that is a good step down. Moanar used to sell these great finesse jigs that were just a little under 7/16 w/ Baby Rage, so this looks like a great replacement for those! Dibs on 10 of them while I sort out colors!

Weightless Finesse Setup (Baitcaster)?
Interesting. I guess I have literally never run into that issue as I can’t think if any spot I fish where I am targeting deeper water close to where I am casting from. When ever this has come up before I never inferred that people were leaving the bail open after the lure lands, thus my confusion.
-
PROBLEMS while wading
I generaly use short 6’ to 6’6” rods when wading or kayaking, so reaching the tip isnt a huge issue. When retying while wading I stick my rod butt in my pocket, which works well if you have a short rod and deep pockets.
-
Weightless Finesse Setup (Baitcaster)?
I guess I’m still confused, because at no point have I ever left the bail open or the clutch disengaged when the lure is sinking, I follow the lure down with my rod tip or manually strip line If I feel like I want a little more slack before it hits bottom. I also rarely fish much deeper than say 10-15 feet, so maybe I’m just not fishing deep enough for this to be an issue at all.
-
Weightless Finesse Setup (Baitcaster)?
I’m still having trouble working out when the line is actually free spooling off spinning reel. Once the lure hits the water, the line is dragged down as well and will be laying on the water while the lure sinks, would not the drag from the water be the same on any kind of reel?

Very nice! Do you know the total finished weight of the jig?

Daiwa Zillion 741 MHRB - What would you use it for?
Newton was likely a carp guy, so I don't trust his thoughts on bass fishing much ? But seriously, I have not noticed any increased difficulty in hooksets, but I am talking about rods with an upper rating from 3/4 to like 3oz, so they still take a good bit of force to flex them much past the tip. Most of my kayak fishing is very close range in pretty shallow water, so there is not a lot of slack in the system to start with.

Rod and Reel $$$$
I have the Cover Craws and some Fat Ikas in a 3500 box and switch between them when the current one gets destroyed. They seem to work about the same.
-
Rod and Reel $$$$
Yea, I was shocked to realize how disliked the ACS is.
-
Daiwa Zillion 741 MHRB - What would you use it for?
Fishing from a kayak is what got me interested in softer rods, I can use all the help I can get keeping the pressure on, especially when I am transitioning from standing to sitting.

Rod and Reel $$$$
I am one of the weirdos who likes the ACS seat, but I don’t have one in my collection anymore. I fished the Steeze SV TW on the FMJ for a solid 7hours the other day. It was super comfortable and while a jig bite never happened, I got a few on a Cover Craw pitched around some pads. The combo feels super light in hand and the rod has far more power then it initaly feels like.
