How long for ice thaw?
There is a small lake near me that has started to thaw already, I was out pike fishing Monday. It thawed out more yesterday as well. i think yours should have at least some open spots next weekend it hasn't been that warm near me yet highest was around 15oc or 59of

Megabass Lures
i really like the vision 110 as well as my islide the reason the 262 is so expensive is size. granted it shouldn't be that much considering it is plastic glide bait, but i think the jerkbaits are worth it. the swimbaits can be found cheaper used on this forum and others just depends on what you want to spend.

Look who i met yesterday
so i went to the spring fishing and boat show yesterday and got to meet an awesome Canadian angler and one of the announcers for the elite series Dave Mercer. we talked for a bit and he's a super cool guy also got a signed hat by dave, pretty cool way to end the day

Tips on what to throw in a small pond during a warm spell?
if you have bluegill swimbaits throw them, either that or a jerkbait and lipless

Jig rod for both skipping and flipping?
i would think a 734 is okay a little light for heavy cover I would also look at a fury 704 and a sierra 704 still within the price point but a bit nicer of a rod

Spinnerbaits vs. Chatterbaits
they are interchangeable in the sense that they are a jig with a blade but that's basically where it ends. spinnerbaits are much more weedless than bladed jigs and such will come through cover better, timber and pads specifically. bladed jigs to me are much closer to a squarebill, but can be run through grass better. the situations i use them in a fairly different but as with anything there is some overlap. keep in mind this is very dependent on where the fish are and what mood they are in. spinnerbaits: working through timber when fish are higher in the water column. working the edge of a pad line (makes casts more effective because it doesn't get hung up as easy). clearer water (more about the flash than vibration). bladed jigs: working above cover (over top of sunken timber). in sparse grass lines. anywhere its too easy for a squarebill to get hung. muddier water, when fish are higher in the water column

Deciphering Posted Information Can Be Tricky ~
i think we are all guilty of this in some way. we look more so at the bait and not take the time to ask about what situation the angler is fishing

Deciphering Posted Information Can Be Tricky ~
it is definitely interesting to see the responses like this. I do agree that it can be quite difficult to understand most of what we say. what i have found to be helpful which is not always an option, is once you read something go test it. In saying that I think we should spend more time teaching anglers about the where rather than what lure to use. if they understand more of where the fish are they can understand how to properly present a lure in that situation. i think i've been reading spoonplugging too much

Rod and Reel... DD Crankbait vs Crankbait
length and action are the main factors in a deep cranking setup, for me i prefer a 7'11" MH/M rod for deep cranks. i like an all graphite or a composite rod with at least some graphite to give me more feeling of the bottom.

Spinnerbaits vs Crankbaits
spinnerbaits are something i throw when i want to be tight into cover specifically timber. crankbaits i throw anywhere there is hard bottom, mainly rock or a long point. wind is also a key factor in spinnerbaits as it doesnt give the fish as good of a look at it.

Favourite Post Spawn Baits
