  1. I paid $50 for those weights last week! I thought saving $10 by buying the old packaging was a good deal (new 'h20x' marked packs are $60)

I picked up some h20 flippin' hooks a while back. Seemed plenty sharp.
  3. I'm with ya. Durability maybe, but body shape, weight, and castability are all superior in the new models. I will say I didn't know 'nearly all' the old Daiwas had free floating spools like DVT said. I thought only the td-z and td-x 'super free' model had them. Not sure how much it matters....my Concept Z's have a spool shaft and no bearings and will outcast any of my floating spool daiwas.
  4. The marketing of red line (cajun) was based on the fact red was the first primary color to disappear in the water column at a certain depth. The problem is, it wasn't based on what bass see, but rather what we see. Bass only differentiating between red and green colors was a scientific study done on bass. I've always done well with red baits in the prespawn, but I attributed it to the crawfish that turn red around here.
  5. I prefer CXX. Both are crazy strong, but CXX is a coated line, and my clear CXX stays clear longer. I thought the YZH turned a milky white color pretty fast. I very rarely use the 15lb....but use 6-12lb frequently. The way some anglers describe CXX is funny...like giving a baby a lemon slice. If they made it more manageable, it would stretch more.
  6. I noticed the imx-pro crankbait rod I was looking at went to $380 ?
  7. A few weeks ago, I googled 'fishing tackle store tokyo' and it pulled up several with pictures of the inside and outside of the various shops. Doing that will help you narrow them down by selection/location.
  8. I'm on a buying haitus momentarily, but I've made a mental note that you have one available ?
  9. Sweet. I picked up 2 of those Essence ci4's a couple months ago, and have been impressed. Actually went back to japan lure to grab another, but they were gone
  10. This is a revamp of the X7, which was around until 2015. Tackle Warehouse carried the X7, so there's a chance they could be avaible here as well as overseas. https://www.lurenewsr.com/247996/
  11. I think I have developed a method to determine this. Look up item on Tackle warehouse and note price. Now look up the same item on Digitaka. If TW price is lower, the answer is no. If TW price is higher, the answer is yes. I'm a mind ninja....
  12. Right on...I'll keep them in mind. I happen to have some hooks that are longer than others of the same denomination...the 'Texposer' hooks by Lunker City. They aren't spoken of much, but they are great hooks that fill a niche.
  13. I picked up some of the 8.25" 'magnum crawlers' in Tomato at Christmas. They are some fattie worms...I put up a trick worm for comparison. Plastic seems to be of good quality. Come on.spring!

I fish them like a zoom horny toad. On top...reeling just fast enough to get the legs kickin'.
  15. I'd bet it's a walmart-only deal.
  16. A while back, I read an article that said like 70% of full-time guides ended up.with skin cancer. I'm fairly vain, and wrinkles concern me almost as much as cancer ?️
  17. This is definitely a trend I didn't see 10 years ago. I'm assuming guys are putting these on their faces for sun protection, but lately I've seen photos of guys in t-shirts and shorts wearing them. So, are face cancer and maybe wrinkles the main concerns? They look like they would impede my breath, which would bug me.
  18. You want the wire 'hook' style keeper. I'm not a fan of screwlocks... https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Picasso_Tungsten_Ball_Jig_Heads_3pk/descpage-PTBJH.html
  19. In the upcoming prespawn, what matters most is having that flo-red colorado kicker blade. It's nice that several brands have one out these days. 20 years ago, you had to add that red blade yourself.
  20. I like a 6' jerkbait rod. As a matter of fact, I'm getting ready to try the 6'M Shimano sellus rod ($50) for my jerkbaits. It is a 24-ton composite rod, so it would be popper/crankbait capable.
  21. I have a few limited versions of the frame I like ('16 zillion/'17 Tatula), but I'm a rod guy. All my rods are different and each has a certain technique it excels at. If I'm fishing a bottom contact bait, 90% of the time I'm grabbing one of my Concept Z's (yea...the bright orange deal). They are small and I can get all my fingers above the rod's trigger, gaining agility. Plus, I paid $107 for all of them. I didn't buy anything to collect dust, but I have retired my zoom crankbaits. Black label has remade most/all of them, so it was an easy decision. Backstock plastics and duplicate crankbaits will probably be around after I'm gone. My philosophy is "I'd rather die with 20 extra packs of brush hogs I paid $2.37 for, than buy any at $5.49."
  22. The spare bedroom is my tackle room, but it also holds all my extra clothes, shoes, and cannabis. Picked up a rush creek round 16-rod rack from Sierra trading to hold my overflow, but I still have a few rods without a permanent spot. Dusted and even pulled my tubs from under the bed to clean, and snapped a couple pics. I'll do a reel expose' soon. Picked up the bookcase at home depot to house my boxes. 80% of 3700/3701's are crankbaits. Tubs of spare plastics, hooks, etc. I'm a crankbait junky, so what are my prized cranks? Definitely my WEC's. This is all but 4 sweet pea's that reside in my finesse box.
  23. Careful, you'll get a warning for suggesting that place....mere mention of that site is 'promoting' it apparently.
  24. Well, they aren't putting them on sale as often as they did pre-pandemic. Covid is apparently over, and we should continue to see great sales like we did for Christmas, which was the best in years IMO. Loomis will catch up....
  25. Maybe, but the St Croix has SMM and RPI technologies. (Significantly More Marketing) and (Reputation Price Increase) ?
