Something like that...it was a long time ago. They looked unpalmable and held a crap load of line.

I don't fish lews, but they represent more of a second comming than a wanna-be. In the late 80's I knew guys that wouldn't have traded their old green lews for my shiny new abu xlt plus.

I've been out of the game for a number of years (like '07) and am diving back in. Lots of new rigs out, but this peaks my interest. I generally throw a slider when things go awry.

I'd go with the abu black max; it will most likely have the best resale value when you are ready to upgrade in a few weeks.

I would spend $100 on rod and save a few more pennies for an acceptable reel. Any of the $100 rods offered today will blow your mind after using that ugly stick, and be more than enough motivation to save another $75 for a decent reel. BTW...howdy yall.
