  1. Everyone's noticed the lack of any high end, or even mid line performance rods at their local retailer. I wasn't that bothered by it until I went to bass pro on Wednesday to pick up rod wrap and thought I would fondle some rods while there. Nothing. A mojo and E6x was the best they had. Not cool for 'the' pro shop of bass.fishing. My first loomis, an imx 844 I purchased after fondling for 4 months, came because I could wrap my paws around it. Went to Dicks yesterday because I heard bluebasser86 say he scored a flap slsp on sale, and they had an envy 7'1" for me to handle...and you would have thought I was handling a megabass legara...it just felt that nice to hold a higher end rod that I wasn't already an owner of. This online shopping may cost us.
  2. Ctap...you've got my balls in a vise with 4lb. For real...we need to hang out. I am confident in my spinning rod and 8lb fluroro...but you're ca) ing out my b a it's action at this point.
  3. Most entertaining thread I've read in a while. Im planning on purchasing a light caster for my 852; but let's face it....no big league guys use bfs. They either use casting or spinning. It's really a moot point. BFS is against the grain. If bfs was winning tourneys...kmart would be on board with it.
  4. Says the tackle junkie in you. You've been around...I bet you could get it done with 2 . Just giving you sheet of course ...
  5. Scored 2 slp zillions the last week of december. Bought a 9.1 sv zillion, and before I even took it to the lake, I wanted to upgrade it. Decided to sell it because this was the more cost effective route given the yen. The slp already has the carbon handle, +2 bearings...and lats face it....ghost purple knobs are proven to catch more fish. Either that, or maybe one of those topless grand lake sunnrrs will make their way to the boat deck when I brandish one
  6. Yeah...they carried that silver curado at Walmart in the late 80's when I was a kid, and I remember thinking it wasn't that smooth for the price, which was like $48 I think. I was really proud of my quantum 1310mg for only $25.
  7. They seem to be indestructible. Dudes I use to run around with ran these reels...and they didn't take care of their stuff. At all. Just beat them up.
  8. I use a 6' spinning rod with 8lb fluoro. I learned how to fish the rogue in the 80's on my only rod...a 6' berkkey lightning rod, and it's been that way ever since.
  9. One man's trash is another's treasure a lot of the time, and you end up with guys defending their brand. That said I haven't had any bad rods, just ones I didn't prefer for one reason or another.
  10. I believe that reel will be $112.50 tomorrow around noon. Can't help you comparing them, but the price says you should add it to the stable.
  11. Just wear out every fish in there...take all comers.
  12. I remember a bassmasters classic several years ago that was up north, and it seemed like half the field was throwing the smsll bevy shad.
  13. Is nobody using dick nite's stuff anymore? Haven't used it personally, but it used to be recommended to me frequently and I'm in the market for a clear, and being able to just dip the bait sounds appealing.
  14. Just saw some speed spools in the bargain cave for $69.99. http://www.cabelas.com/product/bargain-cave/new-this-week/boating-fishing|/pc/105591780/c/105633180/sc/105638580/lew-s-reg-laser-reg-pro-speed-spool-reg-baitcasting-reel/1794273.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Fboating-fishing%2F_%2FN-1102644%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_105638580
  15. The auction site has some currently...as of a couple of days ago. Give it a look.
  16. Missed the TW black Friday sale, but found some baits I was looking for last week LC bds 2's...
  17. I'm not in need of a tat rod, but when a real barn burner hits tulsa...looks like I'll have to beat you there
  18. I like the double wide 5.20 in big texan. I really liked the bps beaver bug in roadkill...wish they still made them.
  19. The picture of the steez may deceive you...it's very small
  20. If DIY doesn't already have them.. give then a month or so. Was just checking out a carbon handle from there for my zillion for $25...
  21. American legacy has all loomis rods at 25% off with a $25 discount do email sign up. Monster/outdoor pro shop has 20% off everything until the 28th per the email I received today.
  22. I'm pretty sure Digitaka has them.
  23. I'd get the aldy for that rig...
  24. I could probably think of more examples, but the slider worm comes to mind. It was lake of the ozarks in the early 90s, and I was fishing a club tournament when my much older and more experienced boater told me we would be on a finesse worm bite. I thought 'great...I've got just the kalin weenie worm and a jighead. He told me that I need to see how his finesse worm (slider) behaved and it was indeed different than my weenie worm. He took 1st and I took second because he provided my bait and head. I'll never forget that. Seemed like every cast the were destroying them .
