  1. I don't just have one reel, but I have far more rods than reels. Two reels would equate to less sacrificing....you could roll with a jig/worn reel and a moving bait reel and still be frugal.
  2. I'm more baitcast than spinning (I'm in the south), but I understand. 'Fish Chris' was a member here from cali that fished for giants and he only used spinning gear. Its was hard to argue with his success.
  3. I posted that edge rod because I chickened out on buying my first bfs rod. I pond and creek fish a ton, but this requires me to drag and lift fish a lot of times, and I wasn't confident the light would prevail in those situations.
  4. I figure he has a prostaff deal based on his conquest post, so if you can get them at a good price....why not?
  5. Agreed. My comment came off harsher than I intended though.
  6. In the 80's when I was a whipper snapper, my 6' medium lightning rod did it all. I cranked, flipped, pitched and even punched a time or two....all with 10lb xl. These days I'd just do a mh casting rod with 10lb cxx (or a comparable .014" line)
  7. I generally don't check the general bass forum, but this is juicy. I'll bet anyone short of jesus christ that they can't put a bait within 2" at 75yds. That is absurd. For the right amount I'll drive and record it...
  8. Sierra trading post has an edge onshore 6"6" light for $149.....that's a $400 rod built on the NFC Im blank. They have two left....hopefully they have one tomorrow when I get paid.
  9. I have an 852 I purchased last year but have yet to put a reel on. I'm going with the 8.1 steez tw that comes equipped with the shallower 1012 spool. Just waiting for the dollar to get a little stronger.
  10. Saw some shimano exprides at sierra trading for $180. https://www.sierratradingpost.com/shimano-expride-casting-rod-1-piece-7-or-72-medium-heavy-or-heavy~p~285mk/?filterString=fishing~d~14%2F&merch=prod-rec-prod-prod285MK
  11. That does it...I'm firing photobucket. Been with those butt holes since 2001...before it was free. Now it's a pop-up fiasco that yields more frustrations than photos. I'm out...
  12. Thanks to whomever posted the edge rod sale in december....really took advantage of it. Ordered two, then more when I put the first two in my hand. The weible is my favorite reel seat of all time, and the NFL blanks are among the best. They even sent me some rod socks that are made as rugged as my motor cover.
  13. You could have purchased one from TW durong thr black friday sale for $400.
  14. I generally coffee...just make sure you have a roll of TP on the boat.
  15. ALF has 25% off all gloomis rods per an email I received. Strolled over to their site and the conquest isn't discounted...Im going to give them a yell tomorrow and inquire about this.
  16. $5 bills? You are more generous than me ;).
  17. http://www.nbcdfw.com/news/weird/Bigmouth-Bass-052317_Dallas-Fort-Worth-423855834.html?_osource=SocialFlowFB_DFWBrand
  18. Well daiwa claims the twing enables you to cast further....their angle on that is because when you cast it's wide open....don't have to funnel the line through a small hole. Do I notice it? No. Only because I don't have to identical reels to compare
  19. Is that the knee - and - reel special? Just kidding but I think he was the guy in the 80's that was perfecting that. Then again....could have been Paul elias.
  20. I say plastics because I assume you are throwing 3/16 to 3/8, even though I rarely throw 3/8 with plastic. If I'm doing that I'm pitching or fishing somewhere a 3/8oz t- rig isn't the best option. Get yourself an 844 loomis and you'll have the ideal pair for plastics, jigs,....or really anything on the 844. Maybe the greatest blank ever made
  21. I think pros like tak do slow it down....it's all about getting the fish in the boat instsntly.
  22. How's that zillion 12 gram spool working in your 103's? Hope they are doing well. See...my ex wife said I didn't listen ..I beg to differ.
  23. Back in the day if we were comparing a tdx versus a curado b this wouldn't be a comparison. Is shimano going the heavier braking route these days?
  24. I agree, but your post reminded me of a pic I saw on TT showing a slew of zillion 9:1's with squarebills in tow on Omori's boat. Of course this makes more sense than a 10xd, but it made me think of cranking with fast reels. If anyone has this pic I'd like to see it again.
