  1. I have a couple imx-pro crankers and had a glx 843 for a few months. Glx casting reel seat was uncomfortable and felt small. I figured out the trigger is thicker and your two fingers in between reel and trigger feel squished. Sensitivity was superb, and I don't keep a finger on my line. Reel seat was a deal breaker and I sold it. My Imx-pro's (903,864 deep flex) are fantastic.
  2. Zillion sv tw. Lots of quality reels that palm well available, but Daiwa's braking systems give them the nod for me.
  3. So they didn't fix the tip heaviness on the redesign? I've owned so many rods over the years that I felt the reel seat just needed to be moved up the blank an inch or so.
  4. I owned a pre-shimano version of this rod 20yrs ago. Really regret selling it.
  5. Nice rig. I have two glorious xc's on the way that I'm pretty pumped about. Is that the biwako?
  6. The kistler probably has the best blank of the bunch (nfc IM). Blank alone is $200 if you ordered from North Fork directly. I'm not a fan of the 'garage build' look that kistlers have, but that's just my opinion. All the models mentioned should perform well...its a shame you cant handle them to help make a decision.
  7. Cx premium is very good line. I wish they made it in clear.
  8. With a $200 budget, I'd pick up one of the new tatula rods with cork....and pair it with a fuego ct in 8.1.
  9. Since you mention memory issues, I'd suggest sunline sniper.
  10. All those choices will cast plenty far. The one that palms the best for your hand, and how it meshes with the reel seat of the rod you've chosen would be the main factors for me. Unfortunately, you cant take your rod to bass pro and try each reel on it....they dont carry the high-end lines anymore.
  11. If I want my bait to run a little deeper, like in early spring; I'll run fluoro.
  12. I own the 903c imx-pro. Its nice... a true medium-fast that could be used for other techniques. I use a 6'6" rod for jerkbaits, so I cant imagine a rod that would long cast cranks and be short enough to work jerkbaits.
  13. I've ordered from several, but usually its digitaka. Free shipping. Pick up a jdm bait or two along with it for an even more interesting delivery. https://www.digitaka.com/list.php?category=14&series=CASTING+REEL&item=SCORPION+MGL+(New)
  14. I have the 803s and it does have surprising power. Same blank as the 803c if you were wondering. I can see it doing 3/8oz and under rigs.
  15. I have a couple of imx-pros and have been impressed. I do feel they are a little over priced, but nobody pays retail, so I dont care so much.
  16. I'm buying a couple more zillion sv tw's. Looks like they are on their way out as well
  17. Ever throw the one with the red kicker blade? I ordered a couple to replace some red river tackle spinnerbaits that featured a flo red kicker blade. They are my bread and butter slow rolled in prespawn.
  18. I like my edge rods, but seeing how gary runs a company makes me wonder how loomis ever made it big.
  19. The pros can win with any rod or reel, but they also keep a bunch of spares.
  20. Nrx 873 would be my choice.
  21. I also own a couple imx-pro's. Rods are light and balanced, with sensitivity seemingly on par with my old models. I'd recommend one. #underloved
  22. I just want to add that as mentioned not all or actually I would say most of the edge rods labeled x-fast are not. More like fast or medium fast. 704 x-fast, 705 med-fast, 706 med-fast/fast, 786 med-fast, 787 med-fast, 806 med-fast (806 is labeled as mod). I own these rods and hope this helps if you are considering buying one.
  23. I can't tell a difference. Looks or feel. Where did you learn he changed the material?
  24. Love my edge rods. I still think gary's weibe reel seat is the best on the market, and nfc blanks are the deal.
