  1. Okay, so which Fury rod would you recommend for lures like the following: Whopper Plopper 130's, MS Mini Slammer, Savage Gear 6" line through Trout and others in the similar 1oz. - 1.5oz. range?
  2. So, do you think the 735C would be a good choice for me?
  3. Can a Dobyns Fury throw heavier than suggested?
  4. That's why i was thinking the 735C would be a good choice.
  5. Simply put I don't have the money for 2 rods! I Already have a 6'8" KVD cranking rod but it's only a medium and it's lure rating only goes to 3/8oz., my other rod is an Abu Garcia Pro Max that is a medium/heavy and it's lure rating is up to 5/8oz.
  6. If I could only get 1 rod for a variety of techniques including everything from jigs and spinnerbaits to cranks to frogs and even some topwater/small swimbait lures in the 1oz. - 1-1/2oz. range which Dobyns Fury would you choose? I was thinking the 735C as it's lure rating is up to 1-1/2oz but not sure if it can adequately handle a variety of lures or just frogs?
  7. Bass Pro is having their Spring Classic sale start February 17th and have their Pro Qualifier's on sale for $50 (that's 50% off their normal price of $100). Great reel or so I've been told and for that price it should be a bargain...especially if you're just using it as a spare reel for friends to use.
  8. Okay, let's say I have $100 to spend on a new reel for this year. The three that I'm looking at are: Daiwa Tatula CT 100HS, Abu Garcia Revo SX and the Bass Pro Qualifier. The Pro Qualifier will be on sale during their Spring Classic for $50 while the other two reels I can get for $90 off of eBay. Pros/Cons for these reels and recommendations?
  9. The Pro Q doesn't qualify (get it...lol) for the rod/reel trade-in. As for getting all three...can't see the wife going for that!!!
  10. I know that I can get a NIB Daiwa Tatula CT 100HS off eBay right now for $89.95 with free shipping and that's coming from American Fishing Legacy whom I've dealt with before and have a very good reputation!
  11. Yup, just got my circular yesterday and saw it. Now my decision is should I buy the Pro Q for $50 or should I buy a Daiwa Tatula CT or Abu Garcia Revo SX for $90 off eBay?
  12. I've been there before, unfortunately they have two things which I can't stand...insane traffic and heat...lol. I'm also not a beach person and could really care less about going to the white sand beaches (maybe if I was single this could be fun...lol) so I really have no desire to go and will just be going to support my wife. I was all excited though about the prospect of being close to Japan and figured they'd have some nice tackle shops full of bargain price JDM lures, reels etc. As far as the family goes, her Mother lives with us and that's more than enough for me
  13. Where did you see this? It's not advertised in the flyer.
  14. This proposed trip is sounding less and less fun by the minute...lol. Ugh, if I was being forced to go I was at least looking forward to some sweet deals on JDM lures and maybe Shimano reels etc., now with this news it's looking bleaker and bleaker .
  15. I used to go fishing with my Grandfather when I was a boy. Every summer we'd go fishing, sometimes my Mom would come along with us too or sometimes it was just the two of us but regardless if we caught anything it was always a fun time and part of what made my childhood fun. Now that my Grandfather has passed on I hold my memories of fishing with him even more dear! Getting back into fishing about 3 years ago after about a 20 year hiatus the fun is back. It's definitely an addiction and I probably spend too much money on it (according to my wife anyway) but there are other far worse things I could spend spare cash on is how I justify it...lol. I now have a young son of my own and am hoping to get him involved more and to enjoy the outdoors instead of being glued to a TV playing video games. I just recently (last spring) bought a used boat and have had mixed success with that (the boating learning curve has bitten me a couple of times so far...lol) but hope to get more opportunities to expand our fishing forays this summer! My wife loves to eat fish so we mostly keep what we catch (unless they're too small) and eat a lot of fish (and freeze some) during the summer/fall. It's definitely an adrenaline rush to hook onto a big bass, see that explosion if you're using topwater lures and reel her in with your rod tip bent down just knowing you have a big fish on the line :D.
  16. Okay, my wife is from the Philippines. She wants to take a vacation and go home for a couple of weeks. I am certainly not thrilled with the idea of flying to the other side of the World (I'm more of a homebody...lol) or the expense that it will cost but figured that since they are so close to Japan that maybe there are some good bait and tackle shops that sell the JDM lures at bargain prices (compared to the inflated prices they get once they make it to the USA) so i could at least make this trip worth it for me and stock up on high quality JDM lures that I would otherwise not have access to. Oh and I would be looking for freshwater stuff, not saltwater as I don't have any oceans near where I live :).
  17. When is Bass Pro's big sale where you can trade in rods/reels etc.? I know it's in February but since i haven't seen the ad's yet I'm guessing maybe the end of February?
  18. I saw bullfrogs eat baby ducks in my Grandfather's pond all the time growing up. If we caught them we'd usually beat the frog until he spit out the duck and nurse the duckling back to health (my Grandfather loved the ducks). But after seeing this video I so want to try that Savage Gear Suicide Duck...lol.
  19. I know it's a couple of days late but it's been pretty hectic at our household since Christmas Eve. My little family had a very Merry Christmas and I hope that all of you had a Merry Christmas too!!!
  20. Still not worth it to me. At least I got one :). I was just checking to see if a member of these message boards might live close by and wouldn't mind helping a fellow angler out but if not I'll survive...lol.
  21. Nah, not worth it to me. I don't like driving farther than 2 hours away plus I just put on my winter tires and that makes the gas mileage go down a bit and...the wife will want to go to Manchester Mall which all totaled will cost a lot more than I'm saving on a couple of lures...lol.
  22. There were plenty...no need to be greedy!!!
  23. I was down there on Saturday and I ended up finding a gem, a Lucky Craft Pointer 78SP in the MS Crack color scheme was normally $16.99 but had been put on a peg with a clearance price of $4.88. I showed the employee as there were several of them on the peg and not just this one and after reviewing the sku numbers he determined that it had been put on the wrong peg and it was actually supposed to be a Charteuse Shad Flash Pointer but since it was their fault he would honor the $4.88 price. Needless to say i grabbed it at that price but after making the 2.5 hour trip back home I wished that I had picked up the Chartreuse Shad Flash Pointer in the 100 and 78 sizes as those were both on clearance from $16.99 down to $4.88 and it appears only in this store as online they are still full price. I called the store but try as I might they aren't able to take any monetary info over the phone so i couldn't buy them and have them send the lures to me. If anybody lives near this store and frequents it would you pick me up 1 of each clearance Flash Pointer size in the Chartreuse Shad and mail them to me? I will reimburse the cost of the lures and shipping (shipping shouldn't be more than a couple of dollars as i just live in Vermont which isn't that far away)? Thanks!
  24. I've heard the Strike King Rage Menace twin tail grub is a good one. Other than that I am just getting into jigs myself so don't have much knowledge on the subject.
