  1. PALOMAR KNOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also it helps if you have a good amount of line between the frog and the rod tip before you cast to avoid backlashes. Also check your settings on your reel and adjust if needed.
  2. patriots have already staked their claim, get out of the way or get beat!
  3. X2, the three have varying purposes, especially buzzbaits. Hmm... I usually tick to spinnerbait in choppy and/or muddy water. interesting to hear your application technique.
  4. don't spend too much time in the same spot with the same bait. After fishing a particular area/lure for 15 or so minutes without any luck, either start throwing a different presentation or move spots. And have fun! You won't catch any fish if you go about it like you're fishing for your life. Get out there and enjoy the day, but also focus on what you're doing, as well, in order to catch more fih.
  5. I have a 6'8'' st. Croix casting rod. Right now it's my "everything rod" because I only only have a couple rods at the moment. So my question is: once I have obtained some other technique-specific rods, what technique could I apply my 6'8'' to? I love the rod a lot and would like to have it for throwing certain baits instead of selling it, but I just am not sure what I can use it for. keep in mind it's casting, so I wouldn't want to dropshot with it. all responses are appreciated. Thanks!
  6. ah, I remember my trusty mickey mouse rod. Those were simpler times.
  7. Ponkapoag is a great spot with some solid fish. Topwater's a great summer option there. But be warned, you'll probably catch at least 3 pickerel for every one bas, the place is loaded with them. Throw a hollow body in the pads, or a buzzbait/frog around them. If you have a boat, it get to about seven feet in the middle, as well. Good luck!
  8. As a high school student, I have a lot of respect for the work you put in to help those kids learn and hopefully be successful in the future. Keep up the good work!
  9. Hope your wife is healthy now, god bless.
  10. mind if I come live at your place for a while?
  11. So the lesson here is... always choose FedEx.
  12. Toss 'em a couple 14 ounce ribeyes every time you go fishing!
  13. I also need to figure out what presentation to use for this project. It needs to have a small profile, as I'm probably going with the tank idea, which'll involve small fish. It also has to be something that doesn't involve using a hook. I'm thinking either a little finesse jig with something to block the hook or a small craw. It just needs to be a smaller sized bait that I can work in place and a bait that small bass will take.
  14. ohhhhhhhhhhh I get what you mean. Smaller fish usually make up the majority of a population so trying to catch smaller fish is the same as trying to catch more fish.
  15. it took my a minute to figure out that the rig was called the "stupid rig" and it wasn't just a rig you thought was stupid.
  16. I did give that idea some thought and think it's a good option. That way I'd be testing on the same fish in the same conditions (light, water temp., time, weather, etc.) It would make the experiment a lot easier. Perhaps that is what i'll do.
  17. i'm not necessarily looking for small fish, just more fish.
  18. For my school science fair project, I decided on testing how bass react to different colors of the same bait. I haven't started the experiment, but that is definitely the topic I'm choosing. The decision I'm trying to make now is what bait to use. I'm deciding between a jig and a chunk trailer and a shakeyhead with a creature or craw bait. For this experiment, I'm not really looking for quality fish, but numbers over anything else. I need to be able to collect as much data as possible. So which do you guys think I should use? If you have any other suggestions, that would also be great, just make sure it's a bait that should catch a lot of fish, big or small, from late September to early-mid October. Thanks!
  19. nice job, what a great day!
  20. do you trout fish down there at all?
  21. I got that in my mtb, too. haven't thrown it on a spool though. it looks pretty slick.
