  1. Well mines already been made, they just need to make it cheaper because if I could afford it this would be all I would ever throw.
  2. I remember seeing that in a bassmaster somewhere that people are using float-n-fly flies for drop shotting. I dont see why it wouldnt work. I would guess that prob 99 percent of bass have not seen a fur or hair lure. Except maybe this
  3. I'm right there with you, I was fishing Okeechobee earlier this year and my partner ant I were throwing the exact LFT Hyper Worms and I outcaught him 5 to 1. I was throwing 15lb Fluro and he was throwing 30lb powerpro, I think they could see the braid and shyed away from his. I even tried braid with a leader but I still did not like having that knot running through the guides. Ive taken it off all my rods and am done with it (Except for saltwater, but thats a different story ;D) I guess its like that Abu/ Shimano thread in that you should use whatever works best for you.
  4. Freshwater: Metanium MG on a Dobyns Champion 734C SH with 15lb Triple Fish Ice Line Fluro, I really want to upgrade to a Extreme 744C but I am so attached to the Champion that I cant part with it. Saltwater: Shimano Baitrunner 4500 on a 6'6" MH Trevala with 65lb Power Pro, this guy has laid the smack down on some big grouper in the past year or so.
  5. If nothing else is working you can put rice bags in your box because they absorb water or go to the extreme and put dry rice in with your hooks. It should work just like it does in salt shakers and absorb the water. Just be sure to change it every now and then.
  6. Because shallow spools are either for vertical jigging, not casting, or really light line (2-3lb test).
  7. I use fluro because the bite is really light many times so I want a little more sensitivity than mono has.
  8. He hit the nail on the head right there, all of those rods are amazing at what they do. Ive been looking at picking up a 795 here myself to replace my 765, you just cant beat the sensitivity of the Extreme line.
  9. 20lb Big Game has been holding strong on my swimbait rod for a while now.
  10. I am replacing an old reel and looking at either the old style Revo Premier or Curado E to replace it. This will be on my light texas rig rod, and will be throwing rigs from 3/8oz down to 1/32oz and other weightless plastics. Basically I am wondering which reel would handle those light lures better. Also, please only respond if you have used both.
  11. Mean Green Red... but they dont make it anymore, so you really have to look for it. >
  12. It works best with a left handed rod or the Instant Fisherman. ;D
  13. Strike King Redfish Magic Zulu has a black/chartruese tail fluke.
  14. I swapped out the spools between my Curado and Citica and love it. I wanted a 6.3 reel for crankbaits, but the Citica spool was not the best so I put the Curado spool in it and now I can cast #5 shad raps a mile. Then I put the citica spool in my flipping Curado because I did not need the lighter spool there. Also I think the cosmetics look much better switched.
  15. Not really the lowcountry, but I'm in Myrtle Beach.
  16. Step 1. Find a flat that leads to a spawning bay, down here 6-8ft of water is good but that is relative to where you are, and a little grass. Step 2. Chunk and Reel Thats what I have been doing for the past couple weeks with pretty good results.
  17. Go Commando and use the money you save for more lures ;D ;D ;D
  18. I used to use the smaller ones, like 1/4oz for drop shotting, because they "click" on rock. However I stopped because like Bassin_Fin@tic said they are HUGE and they rust.
  19. I have used my Dobyns 734 for frogs in slop and swimbaits, and have had no problems setting the hook or any other issues throwing either. The only problem I would see would be the line. I put 50 lb braid for frogs and 20lb mono for swimbaits (1-1.5oz and under). However you could probably get away with 30lb braid for both, its just a matter of personal preferance.
  20. I have to go with my fellow South Carolinian, Jason Quinn. Or Steve Kennedy, he is a great guy as stated above and I would like to see him win a Classic.
  21. I would say that a good solid reel with a smooth drag, and heavy gearset would be a good requirement. I currently use a Curado 200E7 for flipping and it has been working perfectally for a while now, but I have heard enough good things about the castaic to give it a try. The Castaic makes a good flipping reel, because of the instagage system. The reel does not need to be engaged by turning the handle, but by releasing the thumb-bar which allows you to set the hook quicker if a fish hits the lure on the way down. Its simply a matter of giving you a faster reaction, because you are using a 1oz weight and it hits the bottom in about 1 seconds and you need to be able to react fast enough to stick them.
  22. Shimano Castaic 200SF They are built for flipping and pitching, and can be had for $80-140. I think that there are a few in the flea market now, at least for now, because I am looking hard at one now.
  23. Yup, in Troop 2001 in Elgin, SC.
