  1. Gitzit.....stuffed full of Pop Rocks.
  2. Ibuprofen or like, cold pack, lidocaine spray.........
  3. Cold start switch......basically a choke. I had one on my '79 85HP Merc. Pain in the butt..it always wanted to lift when the throttle was moved forward.
  4. In over 60 years of fishing I think I can honestly say that I've never lost a fish that would have been my PB. I have seen many, but never hooked.
  5. You should be able to see it if you lay on your back and poke your head under the console. You will see the cable enter the pulley on top, probably covered with the same material, and exit on the bottom. This short piece of cable on the bottom is where your part goes. I have no idea how it is fastened but it may be obvious if you locate the area I'm referring to. Pics might help if you get lost. Good Luck
  6. When I first got my Ranger, my Spring-lock pedestals were just like you described. I picked up a tube of Sil-Glyde (I use it on cabinet drawers and double hung windows) and haven't had the problem since.
  7. Looks like the cover that goes over the end of your steering cable.
  8. I usually revert to night fishing during the hottest part of the summer. Black Jitterbugs, black Spooks, and Black/dark bladed spinnerbaits are my arsenal. I see you are in Florida so I don't know how safe night fishing can be there.
  9. Nobody thinks this might be photoshopped? A golden tongue? Really?
  10. Yup, Deep Wee Craw in chartreuse....been working for me 20 years now.
  11. topwater at the crack of dawn.
  12. I found this photo of a 2010 TR177 (mine's a 2008). Evidentally Ranger figured out they had an issue and installed floor drains in later models. Mine does have that little slot you see just behind the drain. Maybe thats supposed to act as the drain.
  13. Bought a 2008 Ranger TR177 last month and it surprises me that there is no floor drain. I washed the carpet the other day and the water takes a long time to dissipate. There is a hole for a seat pedestal but it probably wouldn't do much good if there was a seat in place there. Although we've had an incredibly dry summer, this is Seattle and it will start raining eventually. Should I drill the floor and install a shower drain? And if I do, would I just run into a bunch of foam? Thanks for any suggestions.
  14. Watch out for the Kracken.
  15. Some of the best fishing, and memories, I ever had were in a 10 fiberglass rowboat. Start with what you can afford and work your way up. I doubt very much that those youngins care what kind of boat they're sitting in, as long as they're fishing with Dad. Believe me, I know. And BTW, I was 50 years old before I got my first "bass boat".....it was a used tin boat 10 years old.
  16. Don't even think about a 10MM unless you reload.
  17. I use a snap directly to the eye on all my topwaters and cranks.
  18. You don't say where you live. I live near Seattle and I'm starting to think fall right now. What really sets me off is the first frost, then I hit the local smallmouth relentlessly.
  19. When I was about 10 or so back in the early '60's, my Dad and I were fishing a lake in Western Washington. We started out casting plastics to some rows of pilings from a long abandoned log mill. We were doing pretty well until the sun fell on the pilings and the largemouth shut down. So we tied on some Dick Knight spoons and started trolling for trout. I forget what time of year it was but occasionally we were picking up these salmon smolt between 3 to 6 " long. We would just remove them and throw them back as they were caught. After about 6 or 8 of these catches, my Dad told me to leave it on the spoon. Then he fires up the 6 horse and we speed over to the pilings. I cast the smolt still attached to the spoon to the nearest dolphin and reeled back a 3 pound largemouth. Needless to say that was our new pattern until the smolt stopped biting. Never happened again but it sure was fun while it lasted.
  20. Doesn't anyone use toothpicks anymore? I keep mine in a plastic bag with Fish Formula II in it for that extra incentive.
  21. Jig and Pig....black on black in black
  22. Spinning reels aren't really meant to handle large lures with that kind of resistance. If you're going to get serious about spinnerbaits, and crankbaits for that matter, learn to use a bait-casting rig. Good Luck BTW, Welcome to the forum!
