  1. I always fill up with the best then during the season replace the top 30 yards or so. I f you are out on the lake and something catastrophic happens and you lose that top 30 yards, you'll have good line on your reel. It also allows you to transfer line from reel to reel in a pinch.

  3. In a perfect world, I would love to be on a small pond loaded with fish all by myself. But more realistically, on those days that the fishing is tough, it's nice to be able to run to a different section of the lake that offers shade, warmer/cooler water, different depth or structure.

  5. I don't fish high vis or fluorescent line unless I absolutely have to. And even then, I will take a felt tip pen, usually brown, and color the last 4 feet or so.
  6. How many of you guys take advantage of this? "Recreational boaters who purchase taxed fuel for use in their boats may be able to get a refund of all or part of that 'highway use tax' depending on the state in which the fuel was purchased." I haven't before but I'm going to start this year. The highway gas tax is just getting ridiculous around here.
  7. Looks like a keeper. Congrats!

  13. Your best day on the water might not even include a catch.
  14. Tell us about that one day that you hope to relive someday. Mine was a Saturday in early June, that my daughter (then 11) and I traveled to a small lake in Eastern Washington. Between us we caught over 30 bass..mostly largemouth, a few smallies....the smallest of which was 2 lbs. Three were over 5 and every one of them was caught on topwater. It just doesn't get much better than that around here. How about you guys?
  15. Carry a crochet hook with you always.
  16. I had to chuckle when I read the title. Waaaaaay back when my Dad first introduced me to the bass fish in the '50's, rubber was all you could get. They were either black or true nightcrawler colored, straight tailed and you were lucky if you could find ones that floated. They all came from Herter's mail order back then and we rigged them with an Eagle Claw weedless hook with a split shot at the eye. Ahh the memories.......
  17. I ordered a Humminbird Helix 7 Combo unit from BPS yesterday. I just got an email that it was shipped. Now the waiting.......
