I have a Sphinx Sdp, basically a fancy cz. Im a big fan of the cz platform. Was going to get the cz p1 but ended up with the sphinx sdp because it is so awesome
  2. The NRX 822 is an awesome drop shot rod, but it is not very versatile. If you are looking for a technique specific dropshot spinning rod go for it, If you are looking to throw t-rigs, shakey heads; I would go up a power and add a little length. Try it before you buy it, it is super sensitive and very light, but it does not have a strong hookset, not a problem with fine wire drop shot hooks. Having said that, for how light it "feels" it does have a lot of power, I have landed plenty of 3-4lb smallmouth on my nrx822, an occasional giant sheephead and a 20lb carp.

  5. Thanks for the tips guys! Just dialed it in, Holy Cow this thing unspools that line like crazy! The casting distance is remarkable, I thought my Tatula was about as good as it was going to get, this thing smokes it! Thanks again!
  6. Hello all, just brought a metanium and I have a few questions about set up, the instructions are all in Japanese haha I will be using the reel to cast quarter oz spinnerbaits and jigs Currently it is spooled with 30lb braid My main question is regarding the braking system, there are white brakes installed, there are red ones in the box. What is the difference between white and red? How many should I have "locked" down, currently they are all locked down, does this mean that they are all active/on? What is the recommended setting for all around casting? Thanks in advance! If anyone knows a place where there is good instructions or a set up guide, I'd appreciate it.
  7. Thanks for the advise guys! Rippinlips, It's not like I can't reel without hitting my huge gorilla hands, i switch from spinning to casting a lot in a day, and I just want everything to feel a little more uniform. I have adjusted the way I reel to compensate for the smaller handle....also, I have a winter ahead of me here and can use that time upgrading my gear
  8. I recently went to a left handed bait casting reel reel, because I'm right handed and the "cast, switch hands, reel," was making less and less sense to me. However, I am used to cranking my spinning set ups and they have a bigger handles (shimano 2500/3000), so my knuckles hit the second handle knob when cranking the tatula bait caster. Anyone have suggestions on a handlebar length that I should try out? i saw the hedgehog ones, pretty sweet but $$$! Any advise is appreciated! Thanks
  9. This year I took a buddy of mine out smallmouth fishing on lake Michigan, I was telling him how big the smallies are out there, and how we catch them with different artificial lures. He usually fishes for walleye and perch with live bait, and he thought that he would kill them with some live bait. He tried all day and only caught a bunch of small rock bass and baby perch, while I hauled in about 6 or 7 monster smallmouth on plastics. I think I might have converted him that day. I think that the right presentation is key to catching bass, and sometimes they just aren't interested in the real thing
  10. Plum Drop-Shot worm from a "Chompers", a very angry 3.5 lb smallmouth
  11. I was about 12 yrs old and was fishing with a buddy on a small farm pond, we had a small14 ft aluminum boat and there was this creek that ran off the main pond and through a field, presumably for the cows...anyway, we though it would be a good idea to paddle up the creek. There was an old wire fence blocking the passage, so In order to get the boat to the creek we would have to get low in the boat and slide under it. My buddy is paddling from the back of the boat, and I lay back in the front and reach up and grab the fence to pull us through, that's when I realized that this was an electric fence! The jolt nearly sent me overboard, and the stream of obscenities was heard by my family across the pond..my friend laughed his ass off
  12. Hello and thanks in advance for any ideas! I have been working on this one for a while now, so I thought that I would put it out on the forum to get some new ideas. I fish for bass in a lake that has a lot of walleye, and I feel that the fish are a bit line shy so I usually run 6-8lb floro, and I get bit off a lot by walleye. So I went on a search for the thinnest leader that I could buy, and found this titanium single strand leader called "Knot 2 Kinky", it is pretty nice stuff, super thin and relatively flexible, BUT it is a pain in the butt to tie to the lure! Anyone use this stuff or have experience tying titanium leader?
  13. I purchased a loomis nrx from tackle warehouse and I was hoping that there would be some paperwork on the warranty but there wasn't. Anyone know if I have to register the rod to get the warranty?
  14. I just brought a new Stella fi 2500 and it came with a couple of things that I don't know what to do with, so I figured someone on here would know. First is a small bag of small black washers, are these shims? What are people shimming on this reel? Next is a small sheet of clear sticker strips. Any insight is appreciated! Thanks!
