  1. Palomar is about all I use for anything now. Just go around the entire bait. Tie it right and you'll never break it. Others I have tried are the improved clinch, San Diego jam, and UNI knots. All are good.
  2. Went on a trip a couple days ago and temp was about 87. Only fish caught between the three of us was on my GP/blue trick worm on a 1/16 oz. T-rig. Tossed it into weeds along a shaded bank. Fish was about 1lb but was very aggressive (exploded on the worm as it hit the water and fought all the way back to the boat).
  3. Ok my mistake, sorry
  4. I believe the purchase window ended on the 12th (yesterday). Maybe I'm wrong, but the form I last looked at was the non-DSG rebate and it said the receipt must be dated July 12, 2017 or earlier to qualify even so, 4/$10 powerbait is still a good deal. Cheaper than havoc at full price
  5. I do not like trilene xt very much except when I using it straight on a spinning rig (finesse type setups). I had a spool of 14 lb trilene xt on my spinnerbait rod and cut it up very easily. It may be good for a leader on top water rod, but I wouldn't recommend it for other hardbaits. I suggest bi game or suffix siege for your leader, but honestly I'd go to a straight mono for the long haul.
  6. This exactly. Stock up when it's on sale if you're really that concerned. Somebody always seems to have big game on sale for under $5.00 if you look around for it too. I bought 4 for 10 just a couple weeks ago
  7. Is the purist any better than the others at $50? Like the president or summit xt?
  8. I would keep the 15 because it's a little tougher than 10lb and isn't that much bigger in diameter i also have 15lb braid on my panfish setup, but usually go with 8 lb mono for leader if I am using one
  9. 1. 10x Zoom Trick worms, California 420 2. 8x Zoom 6" lizards, black OR 8x Zoom baby brush hogs, watermelon red 3. 8x Senko style baits, Junebug and Watermelon red 4. 3 KVD 1.5s, neon bluegill, fire tiger, and gizzard Shad 5. 3 Rebel pop rs, any color combo really works 6. 2 small white spinnerbaits 7. 2/0 and 4/0 round bend hooks and 1/8 oz bullet weights And as much panfish gear as I could fit
  10. Good points made Mick thanks to everyone for the insight. Just for kicks, this is the article I read:
  11. This bait caught my interest as well. Has there been any more info on the end of the havoc series yet?? Or is it just a rumor (I hope )?
  12. How about Resident ducks and geese. They occupy huge stretches of bank, leave their crap all over, are loud when they pitch in and out or if you have to pass them, and often come beg you for food. Especially on ponds, where there is limited space, its hard to fish a certain spot when there is a flock of 50+ Canada geese right in your way. One spillway I fish, they are so bad, you have to get out of the truck and chase them out of the driveway and parking spots on foot. Talk about a PITA.
  13. Hello. I have 2 Pflueger reels already and will probably pick up at least 2 more this year. They are awesome for the price and work really well. but I am wondering if anybody could give me some advice on converting my bail to a manual shift (so that the reel will not close the bail with a crank of the handle)? I read about doing this mod in a Outdoor Life article and it sounds like it is simple, but I have not been able to figure out if it's really this easy or how to do it. Does anybody have any experience with this, especially on the president and trion models?
  14. For you canoe and kayak fisherman: What technique do you use to pull up to a piece of structure/cover on the bank? If you're in a canoe, kayak, small jon boat, etc.? For example, I was fishing a large laydown that extends about 15' into the water. It's about 3' - 4' deep at the outer edges. There was a light but steady breeze is blowing perpendicular to it (wind is blowing towards the south, tree is roughly west-facing). I had a T-rig and I wanted to fish this tree slow, but kept being blown out of place. How would you stay in place in this type of situation?
  15. Thanks
  16. Could someone give advice about fishing them in shallow water?
  17. No, but I love a roostertail. 1/8 oz., white. On a ML/F rspinnimg setup. Catch any species in the pond, all day long
  18. Lures or bait? for bait, I would say that a ugly stick is good enough. Pair it with a nice reel (look at Abu G. and Shimano to get started)
  19. That's awesome, thank you. I just bought one the other day without knowing about this, so I'm really glad you posted it.
  20. ^^^ Good place to start
  21. Slow your fishing down. Don't be afraid to just "sit on" the bait and just watch your line for a while, especially with the senkos. Other than that, try a Zoom trick worm.
  22. I have the Z man version (pitching crawz) of this, thank you for the suggestion Do the crazy legs version swim like a brush hog style bait? Or do they just twitch?
  23. Could you link that pflueger rebate please?
  24. I never did wacky rig it, but my dad caught a really nice bass on one once. Bottom hoppers are good worms, especially for the money. They seem to float really well, so I would guess they'd work well on a wacky rig. Or any other way. Personally, I like the full size one in Junebug on a 1/16 oz. Texas rigmore than any other rig.
