I don't know if this is the right forum to ask this but here it is any way. I started fly fishing the salmon and steel head runs at the creek by my house when I couldn't go up to the cottage to do some bassin' Right know i only have a beginners set up I am looking for a new rod to better suit my needs. I have narrowed it down to a 9' - 9'6" 8wt rod. Can any one recommend me any thing? So I am up at our cottage, which by the way, is in central ontario, and me my dad and my uncle decide to go fishing. But this time we decided to go to a small cottageless(is that even a word?) lake that we get to through a small channel fit for our 14ft aluminum tin can. So i throw on my jig and put a uncle joshes pork rind trailer on and i was nailing bass in the .5 lbs - 1.5 range (which is average for that lake) so I'm telling them that we got to go to my honey hole on our way back. Its this under water beaver lodge which to my knowledge is abandoned. I'm telling them Ill guarantee them a fish on a senko in that spot because i always catch some there. When we get to the spot i cast ... nothing. Second cast ... tap tap theres a bass but i missed the hook set and lost it. (during the process my uncle lands a dink). 3rd Cast ... bam I set the hook and its a monster!!!! i fight it for about 5mins ... luckily for power pro I didn't lose because it was going in and out of the brush/branches. I get it in the boat and I'm Awestruck because I've never seen anything like this, nor has my uncle and dad. The thing weighed in at 6lbs on the dot on my Berkley digital scale. 21 inch x 15inch. you can kinda see the brush were i caught it behind me in this pic P.S. it was released afterwords

Has anybody checked out the new fireline crystal that came out? I was thinking about getting a spool to try out but I just wanted to know what you guys thought of it

this is a pic of my first ever smallie... i was 7 at the time (16 now) when i was a kid i would constantly cast off the deck of our cottage just hoping for that one! finally this thing came! i caught it one a red seethru grub how much do u guys think this thing weighed?

what do u crank bait making enthusiasts use for a clear coat???? i have been using some urethane that my dad had laying around but i find that it has a really potent smell and im not sure how much the fish would like that.... and also the urethane is kinda messy :-/

its made out of spruce... the only thing i had laying around

i just finished the muskie bait i was working on and im pretty happy with the way it turned out i am old school i painted it by hand i tried it in the creek behind our house and it works decently

my 14 V w/ 9.9 used to poirpose with just me on it when i was at slower speeds ... but i just put the trim ALL the way down on my motor and it doesn't do it n e more... and it gets on a plane easier hope that helps so how :-/

ya i wish i would have picked an easier bait but im gonna finish this one n e ways. im gonna fool around with it a bit and then ill show u guys the final product ... im gonna test it out in the creek behind our house to see if the action is wat its supposed to be

i decided for my second crank bait that i was gonna make was going to be a musky bait ... since there so expensive i chose to copy the drifter believer as a my model to copy mine is made out of spruce and it is just under 8inches i am only going to put one eye hole to tie my line on so which one of the two on the original version is the deepest diving, the one closest to the eye or the one furthest? also, what is the best spot on the lure to put the weight? and how much weight is suitable for this bait?

i figured out wat it is!!!! it is actually blue fox it just didnt say that on it its actually a roland martin big bass spinnerbait thanx guys for ur help

no its not blue fox ... they only have inlines mines a regular spinnerbait

i lost my favourite spinnerbait and i want to get another one but i cant remember the brand all i remember is that it had a a copper colorado blade and a silver willowleaf blade also... on the williow leaf blade there is a fox with a bass in its mouth and the brand name is under that!!!!! and i cant remember wat the brand name is!!!! aaaahhhHH!!!!! any body know it!??!?!?!?!?!!???!!??

there is a creek that is about 12 feet average width which is mostly fast running but also has a bunch of pools that sometimes bottom out at 4-5 feet . i just recently discovered there is a smallmouth bass run that comes every summer and i was wondering wat kind of lures you guys would recomend for this situation???? so far on my list to try is tubes, gulp leeches, small jigs, grubs, and small jointed rapalas.... wat do u guys think??

i just bought some storm suspending wildeye swimbaits in shad pattern... and i was wondering if n e of u guys have had n e luck with these... also where and how do u ussually fish these?

I would highly recommend going to firefox.... it rarely gives me viruses... and it has barley n e pop ups even my computer science teacher at school tells us to use it

i was was looking at my rods the other day and i decided ill need to replace my line on my two rods before the bass season opens next year. my one rod... is a a baitcaster and the rod is 6'6 MH and i use that for crankbaits, spinnerbaits, jigs etc... my other rod... is a spinnign rod the rod is 6'6 M and i use that for plastic stuff and stuff like that.... i was wondering wat would lines you would recomend for those uses for each of those rods.... Wat would work the most with wat i specificaly do with those rods.???? like as in actual brands and wat lbs test i should use, braid or mono, etc p.s i live in ontario canada where the fish are a little smaller in the states so i dont know if that makes a difference
