  3. up here in ontario i use a lot of purple and black wooly buggers as well as egg sucking leaches. Eggs of course, comets, blue thunder, wooly worms, pink san juan worms (fly tiers substitute for berkly pinkies) also fuzzy wuzzy's work good to. Here is a good site for fly tying. This has a ton of steely flies in the data base. http://www.flytyingforum.com/
  4. isnt it illegal/immoral to snag?
  5. Im sorry if this question has been asked before, but does it harm the bass or do anything to it if u catch it in one part of the lake... keep it in the live well and then release it in a totally different place???
  6. Here are a few pictures of some of the many flies I have been tying. I started fly tying about 2 months ago and I love it. I mainly tie flies used for steel head and salmon but i have made a few bass flies. Feel free to post pics of your own stuff too Blue Thunder. Comet. Egg Sucking leech. Pom Pom egg. Some Bass flies that imitate plastic worms.

  9. if u really want to have some fun, and want to try something new, get yourself a nice 9' 5wt fly rod. There a blast to catch rainbows on. Nothing like a beautiful rainbow slurping up a dry fly from the surface.

  11. Me my dad and my buddy are going up to our cottage November 18 and I was wondering what sorta things the bass will be doing around this time and what I should use. I have never been bass fishing this late in the season so I am hoping for your guys help. Our Cottage is 2 hours NE of Toronto so its gonna be cold. If were lucky we might get midday air temps of a max of 5 degrees Celsius. HELP?!?!?!!?!?!??!??
  12. I have been looking for a new steelhead/chinny rod for next season, and I have been looking at this one here http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp;jsessionid=GBTFPDKSVUUQ3LAQBBKCCNNMCAEFKIWE?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat20431-cat20433-cat20457_TGP&id=0029781317998a&navCount=92&podId=0029781&parentId=cat20457&masterpathid=&navAction=push&catalogCode=IH&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat20457&hasJS=true&_requestid=182721 The one in the 9' 8wt. 2pcs I was wondering if any has used cabelas brand stuff (who makes their rods and reels n e ways?) or has any input on this rod and is there any real difference in 2pcs or 4pcs???
  13. so y are these so good? y is everybody scrambling to get them? should i be worried if i dont have any lol?
  14. What exactly is this "Prime Time"???
  15. sounds like a great day I dont know if any body else has noticed this but whenever u post pics of bass u r always wearing that same t shirt in every pics?? ;D is that ur lucky fishing shirt lol????
  16. for a 6lbs bass u can ussually fit ur hand it its mouth... i highly doubt u could do that on that one this is 6lbs: needless to say ur bass is very nice my guess is 4-5 but not 6
  17. It is a Chinook Salmon AKA King salmon u guys call it down there it is almost in full spawning colours
  18. well if u have a fly reel with nice drag than i would recommend reeling it in by using the reel. a lot of newer high capacity fly reels have large arbors that allows you to reel in more line per turn umm if you hook into a salmon it will thrash and do crazy runs ... just let it do its thing when u first hook it ... it will snap your leader like nothing if u have your line to tight after it slows down then start to pump it in or what not
  19. i really don't see a point to bending down barbs when fishing for bass... there mouth is tough and they can handle it but when it comes to rainbow trout fly fishing in creeks then thats another story... their mouth can be damaged from barbs sometimes.
  20. ya i was ... and it was a waterproof one that has no flash... it kinda ticked me off how bad they were
  21. caught this sickly looking guy during the summer any body know what it could be from?
  22. recently my buddy got me into flyfishing for salmon. Hooked into this beast about 2 weeks ago (just got pics developed) weighed about 20lbs took about 15mins to get him in caught on a purple woolly bugger pic of me bringing him in
  23. well check your local tackle stores and they might have them some times they come in the same little jars pork rind baits come in just ask someone there if all else fails catch a female with one of your flies and see if you can squeeze some eggs out ... if u cant and your willing to eat the salmon... you can take the eggs out when u fillet it.
  24. we catch a fair bit on flies such as eggsucking leeches, egg patterns, and wooly worms and wooly buggers. Also u might want to try a spawn sack.
  25. Guys here in lake ontario cast a lot of spoons and J14 Jointed rapalas. I would recommend Williams Wablers A lot of people use spawn in the creek near my house. I personally fly fish for them.... there loads of fun. I caught my first Chinny (what we call kings up here) this season on the fly rod a few weeks ago... 20lbs .... Im gonna post pics as soon as there developed.
