  1. lol thanks. Music/Guitar is my second biggest passion next to fishing.
  2. Thanks Ive finally figured out where the larger bass are in our lake (we have a cottage). Ive found some good patterns that will produce. Ive gotten over my fear of fishing deep water. Getting fish finder for Christmas helped with that. Last year all I would catch is fish in the .5 - 1.5 lbs range. Now I'm doing a lot better. Getting fish in the 1.5 - 4lbs range.
  3. Yeah definitely what he said. Also you might wanna try some 3inch berkley trout worms in pink. Also put these under a float. Other than that try fly fishing with some nymphs or some dry flies. It might be a little hard to get a good cast if its surrounded by a lot of trees and brush like the creeks in my area.
  4. Heres my biggest so far this year, she weighed 4lbs 13oz Heres my little cousin with a bass that was about 3lbs, He's just starting to get into fishing, Ive been taking him out alot this summer. Heres another one of my younger cousin with a HUGE 6lb 13oz bass! It was a bit of a slap in the face to me seeing as my PB is 6lbs and he doesn't even fish. He only goes once and a while with me. My cuz with another 3lb bass, they were kicking my butt all weekend. Alot of these fish were caught in about 14 feet of water on 7 or 10inch power worms just dragging them along. And any body considering a new rod, do yourself a favour and look at the new Shimano Cumara. Its SUCH a nice rod! I love it so much. I'm never going back to cheapy rods. Its a 6'8 medium and I paired it up with a Daiwa Exceler reel, and it casts like a dream. And it fits right in the palm of your hand so nicely. Perfect medium sized soft plastics rod.
  5. are you kidding? That first one is atleast 5! I would guess its around 6.5 though
  6. Needs to realize Canada has the best fishing in the world
  7. LBH, what swim baits do you recommend for the beginner swim baiter? Like what brands ect. Would my 7'6 H Flippin' stick with Daiwa Megaforce reel and 30lbs braid be sufficient to fish them?
  8. I fly fish for steel head and Salmon when bass season isn't open or when I cant get out on the lake. I also tie my own flies too, I'm a bit of a cheap Dutchman. Good to see other fly fishermen out here.
  9. I just ordered a Shimano Cruxis and Compre Combo from my local tackle shop for $240 (Canadian dollars). I think this would be a nice combo too.
  10. Those are some nice Ontario bass!... Where lake were you fishing?
  11. X2 I make signs, magnets, banners, decals, ect for a advertising company up my street, but I am going to University for Electrical Engineering.
  12. I started using them at the start of the summer last year and it took me a few days before I caught something on them. Now I use them all the time with confidence, and if I had enough rods I would have one on all the time. I even caught my PB of 6lbs late august last year too
  13. I'm guessing you caught this by accident while fishing for pike? seeing as the season isn't open for bass. What lake you guys fishing?... you must live near the Oshawa area if you went to gagnons. I live in Bowmanville. Cant wait for the season to open!!! I cant even fish the opener... I got a stupid wedding to go to >
  14. I agree... i have caught many carp around my area and that definitely does look smaller than 20, but it could be the angle that the fish is at. Heres one I caught earlier this year on my prom night that was about 17lbs on the digital scale. Heres one my friend caught that was over 30: the one in my hands was like 8 or something... I cant remember
  15. Well we normally use worms, but I wanted to try corn cause I heard that works good, my buddy said that it has never worked real good for him.... so I tried my corn kernels, and he stuck to his worms. I caught 9 he caught 4. He was to stubborn to switch after I was owning them ;D Btw I love your display picture... there my favourite band 8-) Van Halen I will always be my fav album tho
  16. What do you mean by off colour remarks?
  17. going to some cheesy dinner and dance or going fishing..... easy decision I would think and for the record... my girlfriend didn't want to go to prom either
  18. What do you mean? they are posing with them right here: ;D my friend likes the big ladies
  19. So I didn't really want to go to prom.... so me and my buddy decided to fish instead Carp was really our option seeing as bass season isn't open and the steelhead run is almost done, but it was still loads of fun. I caught 9 in total, and my buddy caught four including a nice sheepshead and a two suckers. Biggest was around 30lbs. This creek has potential for a new record seeing as the record is 38 and my buddy has seen them in here in the 50s and 60lbs range.
  20. i like how you think 8-) o and to contribute to the relevance of the thread... i have on the those cables and they work very well
  21. got these two on my local creek both on white w/ orange yolk sac egg pattern. Got them within 15 mins of each other both in the same riffle i was fishing:
  22. This weekend was opening day for steel head around my parts. The Saturday went pretty good... had a few hook ups ... landed one (see first pic)... hooked into a few others... then i hooked into this 10lbs + one and i fought it for about 3 mins and the it went near this brush pile and i was trying to steer it away from it and my brand new 9'6" 9wt snapped right in half! and this was my first time using it! Needless to say it ruined my day. So today my buddy picked me up and we went out again and he let me use his old 8wt and I got one more steely (see other pic) First one was caught on a purple egg sucking leech and the other was on a black egg sucking leech PS... this was the first time using polarized shades .... and let me tell you ... they make ALLLL the difference... i contribute them to catching these two fish... if u don't have them BUY THEM!
  23. I'm from Ontario and the bass season here doesn't open till June 28th you fishing out of season! >
