Experience with Deeper castable fishfinder anyone?
I just started looking at these and does look pretty cool, one question I have is how distracting will it be to use since you need to cast it out there and reel back, boat based models you just leave on and fish as you go. Since it only works below 3ft will that really limit finding the fish in shallows, also any ideas if they will come out with side scan? I do wonder though who the first rod builder will be to market the "perfect" rod for castable fish finders

Dragging the bottom
I think if you "killed it all last year with a tube" I would certainly start there. Have you considered a Ned Rig?

Newish to bass fishing
I also only pond fish and topwaters parrel to shore are most productive followed by jerkbaits than cranks. Plastic are tough, I think its because of heavy fishing pressure from younsters throwing worms. I use muck boots to get a couple feet off-shore.

Lews drag slipping big time
Well I think the mono backing worked. I used 10lb basic mono that had 30mm diameter vs. the 50lb, 33mm braid diameter. I used a uni-to uni knot which is very similar to a barrel knot I used to use in SAR rope work. I tied end of braid to another reel on broken half rod and basically just reeled in onto new reel. Then added 75' of mono to Lews reel, tied to braid and reversed. Next time I'll use much more mono but this seems to work. Thanks all.

POLL: We need a Pond/Bank fishing forum!!
I think pond/bank fishing has enough nuances and differences to warrant its own forum. Even though I am looking for canoe I also will still be doing a lot of opportunistic bank fishing as I carry a couples poles/tackle in Jeep.

Lews drag slipping big time
No I did not. Could that be it and if so how much mono should I try and best mono to braid knot?

Lews drag slipping big time
I have a new Lew’s Team Lews Lite Speed Spool TLL1SH Baitcaster 7.5:1 spooled with Bushido 50lb braid. The drag is not holding at all. With drag tightened down all the way you can easily pull off line by hand, their is little to no resistance. The reel is new and never taken apart. any ideas? Could braid be slipping on spool?

Memphis Police
Pretty amazing isn't it, police presence in community is proven to be a deterrent and very positive. Unfortunate for those in Memphis, probably need to vote the existing bums out and get people elected that are committed to safety.

Music in the boat?
I bank fish and love the peace and quiet, plus I fish with all my senses, couldn't fathom hearing music while fishing.

What is your tackle organization "philosophy"?
Wow, I have a paltry amount compared to you guys. I carry all my stuff in Plano bag with Shoulder strap. In the side and front pocket I have about a dozen bags of plastics, In compartment I keep: Plano 3600 - Cranks/swim 3600 - jigs/most used plastics 3600 - Top waters Stow away very thin 3600 - Jerkbaits 3400 - few buzz baits/spinners 3700 - terminal tackle At home keep anther 3700 and small tackle box with a few misc./extra and maint. items. Next project is to get a 3400 or 3600 for finesse stuff only, I don't do a lot so don't need much room. ...And there she has it......

Who was bragging about backing up a trailer?
My friend who taught me how to drive and backup with trailer said when he was doing lawn care work he could parallel park his pickup and trailer.

Smaller Jerkbait 78 Series Users ?
Stupid question here, but when people speak of size 78, 80, 100, 110 etc are they talking millimeter size? And is this consistent across manufacturers?

First step to getting kayak/canoe done
I looked at the Wenonah and it was high on list until I saw the Sportspal. The 2 non-ultra light Wenonah 14' fisherman models are $1900 (49 lbs) and $2200 (46 lbs). I just don't see the value over the $1,100 14' (58 lb) Sportspal or $1,000 12'er (48 lbs). Unless I am missing something I just don't think Wenonah's are worth that much more. I can by a lot of accessories for $1,000:) Chuck It does look nice. I am getting too tired to put another in mix or I would look further into this this, at 59 lbs its lighter than I thought it would be.

First step to getting kayak/canoe done
Thank you this is very helpful. It does look smaller than I imagine from that angle. For me alone it would be fine but the second person looks it could get cramped. I think I'll stick with US heavier version but may reconsider the 14'. I do have troll motor but I have a couple small ponds I would even bother with it.

Max casting distance of average joe???
I finally figured out how to use Google Earth and used it to estimate my casts. Using Google Earth I found two ponds I fish a lot and used the measuring stick in Earth to measure from were I usually stand to where my casts usually land in the ponds. My ponds are pretty narrow with defined shore points so this was pretty easy. I found my casts average 60 - 90 feet depending on lure weight and stick length. There are times I can get up to 100' but not often. I was actually surprised at 60-90, I would have guessed 100' easy.

Good question, I just bought my first spy bait (Duo Realis 80) last week and haven't tried yet. Will be checking here for some experiences.

Crankbait for 1 to 3 feet of water?
I just picked up my first wake baits, a couple 1-minus plus I have on order a couple Livingston Pro Wake's with EPS sound system, both will create wakes or run about 12" under depending on speed and tip height. I haven't really tried yet but I fish a lot of shallow areas and think these will really be good.
