  1. Once you go satellite you can never go back.........
  2. I smoke cigars, probably only 1 a week on average, rarely two a week. I do really enjoy it though. Congrats to OP for quitting cigs though.
  3. I carry 4-5 rods. I usually grab all just abovehook holder with left hand and then put on shoulder with reels behind shoulder. This way shoulder holds weight and I can balance rods beret moving through thick stuff. To avoid snags I use rod soxs and lure wraps. This helps avoid tangling in brush pretty good.
  4. Yes bring cellphone and call them they will come get you, if you damage boat or propellar you will pay for tow but if motor problem I don't think are responsible. they will probably get you another boat to get you back out there. I didn't worry about breakdowns, just getting stuck on something....
  5. Both times I rented they gave me a map and quick lesson in reading it. Tell them what your goal is and they will point you in right dire tion. It's very easy.
  6. Ijust got a new Megabass Giant Dog-X top water and two days ago we had the start of a warm from and I caught 17" lmb pretty quick. Most of our pond bass are in 10-13" randge so this was nice to see.
  7. I think understand a swim jig to swim it , and drop jig for around structure, but whats is benefit football jig and when is it used?
  8. I have rented two boats in Florida with family. First time we got stuck on sandbar:) Second time I pulled up to island and put anchor on beach, waves pushed boat further into beach and you guessed it....stuck again:) Luckily there were several other boaters around to help get me out plus tell me what I did wrong. Just keep it in your control speedwise, you'll pick up basics easy enough. For docking go slow slow and marina will usually have hands to help you finish docking and tying up. And remember....have fun.
  9. We have two kitties so I never leave anything with hooks unattended, rarely do I bring lures in-house and this is big reason why. I would feel horrible if one of the little guys got hooked.
  10. Now there's a woman who knows what she wants
  11. Can plastic soft baits baits be kept in a tray or do they need to be stored in original bags or zip-lock bags to avoid drying out or going bad quicker?
  12. My answer also, the hunt is most challenging, getting a strike, especially a blow-up, is most fun and exciting.
  13. This was my point earlier, there are winners and losers. On macro level we are still seeing if positive for economy, but gas savings are being eaten up by higher rents, food prices, taxes, obamacare costs etc....... The story is far from over.
  14. FloridaFishingFool, thanks for explanation of what happened the the EF. I always wondered what happened and the details you gave were great.
  15. Hats off to ya', gotta have a steel ones to deal with this stuff............
  16. I just started to change over to the shallow 3701 for same reason you like them. I just picked up two more on sale and need to reorganize. While they will be for specific baits I do plan to have one that will hold cross section of my favorite and most used baits for when I just want to grab one tray.
  17. WPCfishing, very nice rig. Looks like you have it all very well thought out. Rather very expensive but here is a very lightweight electric motor that is comparable to 3hp, plus with addition of extra battery or solar charger you could run very long. http://www.torqeedo.com/en/products/outboards/travel/travel-1003-s/1142-00.html
  18. I heard the opposite, I have a med-heavy that is my understanding runs more heavy but I never fished a heavy to compare it to can't really say. I am sure one of the experts here will weigh-in.
  19. And this is the catch-22; low oil prices are great for the individual (oil industry worker excluded) but on a macro level the benefits "may not" outweigh the cons in the U.S, the jury is still out. The problem you point out is that "oil" prices are highly politicalized. It really is a global game of chess with the consumers the pawns. For an extreme example look at Venezuela, their socialist society depends on oil around $90/barrel in order to provide all the social benefits for ruling party to buy votes for next election. They are a basket case with oil at current prices even though gasoline for consumer is dirt cheap. "Prior to the oil price crash, exports of that commodity accounted for roughly 96 percent of Venezuela’s export earnings, 45 percent of budget revenues, and 12 percent of national GDP. With Venezuelan GDP around $400 billion by purchasing power parity, that means that the oil industry accounted for just under $50 billion in annual economic activity, or roughly $1,600 in annual income for every man, woman, and child in the country (based on ~$13,500 in GDP per capita)." It is just like debt, in a debt-centric society like the U.S., an individuals debt/low savings can be very bad and if left unchecked disastrous, but without individuals taking on debt/saving less our economy will grind to a halt, albeit temporarily, until a new equilabrium is achieved. In long run low debt/higher savings is always better, but in short term it would be hard on macro economy as we sit today. Whether oil is low or high, there will be winners and losers. The question becomes is it net benefit or loss for individual and larger economy.
  20. I have one rod that always has a one bait tied to it, and is always pulled out when bite is tough, the bait is a Dave's Tournament Swim Jig with a Zoom Ultravibe Speed Craw in Green Pumpkin. When I buy these swim jigs I go through all the packages in the store to get the ones with yellow eyes. I am convinced they are the best.
  21. Pd $1.75 down here in VA today...lovin' it but the job loses due to lower oil prices may be greater than an economic bump from lower prices. Also, don't forget oil prices are lower because Saudi Arabia has been trying to kill our fracking industry, which they are succeeding at. Once the marginal producer is down and out expect Opec to raise prices quick and fast.
  22. I do use 5" senko's on t-riiged. Also use Havoc, Luck E Strike, Yum and Zoom. I like watermelon or pumpkin colors.
  23. I have three 200's, one in each gearing, really like it, if you can get for $119, it's a steal IMO. At 119 I may pick up another......gives me an excuse for next rod:)
  24. No, but I just ordered Green Pumpkin and Hot Tamale. Never used them before but reviews seem pretty good.
  25. Good riddance Frenchy........
