  1. My NRX & GLX rods.
  2. I love these jig threads, reading everyone's advice and techniques. After moving to Tx and fishing Fork I was introduced to a guide who is known to be very proficient at catching LM on Fork with jigs, and this is what he taught me. Position the boat in the creek channel and cast the jig up onto the flats, which are just covered with stumps and slowly drag stop drag the jig across the flat and down the creek bank. He said the bass will be sitting there and the jig will sneak up on them come over a root and fall next to them out of nowhere and bam reaction strike.
  3. I just recently purchased 5 new Shimanos and couldn't be happier. The Mentanium Aldebaran and Conquest HG are IMO the best of the best. There the only reels I will be putting on my rods.
  4. This isn't about a neck gaiter but in regards to sun protection. I just bought a pair of the Columbia Freezer Zero gloves and they are junk. I don't think they would last very long, the fit is horrible and the worst part is the stiff stitching rubbing on both sides of every finger. I'm gonna try the Simms or the Glacier gloves. If anyone has a recommendation on either that would be great.
  5. What gloves are you wearing in pic, how comfortable r they and how r they holding up? Thanks
  6. Thanks guys, as always very helpful in my decision making. Gonna start w the 4" mainly and just grab a cpl bags of the 5" in my favorite colors.
  7. I'm behind the times and need to order soft plastics. Came across the Pit Boss on TW. What's the norm 3" maybe 4" if u want a big profile for jig trailers? And the 4" and 5" for flippin as a t-rig? Do a lot of u use the 5" to flip or is it just too big? And can u tell me what sz hook your using w each. Thanks guys, appreciate it.
  8. I also love the stuff and started using it a long time ago. Right now it and Sniper is all I'm running in fluro.
  9. These r the 7 NRX rods and 5 reels I got so far. Will post pics once I get my next set of rods. In pic 893C 854C 853C 852C 804C 822S DSR & 822S SYR I fished w them this past Thursdays and was absolutely blown away. The sensitivity is beyond anything I imagined. With braid I could feel everything and fish bites were impossible to miss. And the rod & reel together made casting effortless. And increased my accuracy dramatically.
  10. I use my phone to post on here. It usually post pics ok but tonight when I tried they were turned on there side. Can't seem to figure out how to edit them on here. Can anyone help? Thanks
  11. Hey guys the Aldebaran I got is from Japan so the manual is also. Went on Shimano site under the reel PDF manuals and I do not see the one for the Aldebaran anywhere? I did see on the page for the reel itself what looks like a manual dwnld but it's not PDF and my phone won't dwnld it.
  12. Got it, thanks for the advise man I appreciate it. Before moving to Tx I didn't bass fish for 4 yrs and back then wasn't fishing braid on baitcasters just mono or fluro. And this Seaguar Smackdown is suppose to be thin stuff that's another reason I bought the 50lb. And went with the yellow and leader so I could line watch while fishing jigs and Senko style baits. Never fished high viz line before but the green braid on my spinning rod is really hard to see as my eyes aren't what they use to be. So I thought I would give this whole line watching thing a try and see if I really have been missing fish on the fall. I'm just real skeptical of fishing yellow line even w a leader. The fish on Fork get hammered.
  13. Sorry post spawn. And my post 2 wks ago said I was in the process of getting them. 7 r being delivered today. 4 I have to go pu and haven't done so yet but there paid for. And had one seller back out on me. But gonna order 1 or 2 916C. And ordered a Kistler Z Bone Custom. Just taking 5 casting 1 spinning. Only reason I was goin w 50lb is cuz I hear guys complain about braid digging in on baitcasters w 30lb. It's only my 5th tournament. Moved to Tx and got the bass bug real bad and those r the rods I wanted?
  14. Sounds to me like a jealous (fill in the blank) that just wanted to ruin your day because you were fishing and he was working.
  15. How many rods do u take?
  16. I'm really ocd with my stuff and I shouldn't have bought the rods I did to fish tournaments as a co-angler with but I did. And I'm wanna know how u guys pack/carry your rods around to each boat? And do u have anything or a system u use when there in a boat w no locker especially to keep them from flying out when at speed? Thanks
  17. I finally got some rods & reels. 7 rods r getting delivered today and I have 5 new reels. So for my tournament on Thursday I need to rig these up. I will also have a spinning rod for a dropshot rig. How should I rig my 5 baitcasters and what line? I definitely need one rigged for senkos, so was gonna do yellow Smackdown 50lb w fluro leader. One for T-rig/Splitshot rig, what line would you use for that? I would like a topwater rod but feel like it's either 60lb braid and frogs or straight mono or lighter braid and leader for popper/walk the dog baits? One for single hook reaction baits, spinnerbait, chatterbait and soft swimbaits? What line? Need a jig rod, probably more cast and drag than pitching. And I do have a CB rod I could take, that's 7 rods to lug around onto someone's boat. I was using 2 cuz it's all I had. Most fish are pre spawn now. I fish Lake fork so tons of wood, very pressured fish and the chance of hooking DD fish. So what would you rig 6-7 rods with and what line. I know this is a lot but would really appreciate your guys advice.
  18. I would absolutely wait, I know I will after seeing the video of the new one. It should be lighter than the 14 which will be awesome!
  19. It's not a big change but I do like the aesthetics of the 16's better than the 13's. Ability to add a bearing to the level wind? Can someone explain that? What are the benefits of installing one, and how significant is it since it doesn't come with one? I like the fact he mentioned about the improved SVS and not having to open it and adjust the blocks as much/often. Wonder what the motive of going to a 70 sz spool was? It's obviously the direction they have gone in a cpl new models this yr. Is it because they figure so many guys r fishing braid anymore ya think? When I get some I guess they will be braid reels for me and I will run my heavier fluro and co-poly on the 13's.
  20. Just got these today, was hesitant on the Aldebaran but now I'm so glad I ordered it. Thing is sweet!
  21. Is that handle the aluminum one, from hedgehog? And who's knobs r those and where did u get them?
  22. Which one u leaving on? I think I like the gold, I was also looking at the gold handle on Hedge-Hog. I'm gonna put those EVA foam knobs on mine. I've never felt the Daiwa cork knobs how do u like them? They r cork correct? It's really nice that u can put whatever knobs u want on those handles except the ABU I believe.

  24. Just got these in the mail. It's been a long time since buying new rods and reels and I'm blown away by the sz of the 201HG. Definitely gonna pick up a 101HG and probably a 301HG for the bigger stuff.
  25. Thanks guys that gives me a much better insight too these rods.
