OMG only in the county where I live could this happen
good stuff guys...but what a moron eh!...heres another that just happened yesterday morning...people are goin stir crazy... Armed man at BOCES charged Trooper, educators stop attack by estranged husband on Coopers Plains campus. Police say woman pulled through van windshield, beaten with rifle butt. March 15, 2008 By Larry Wilson lwilson@stargazette.com Star-Gazette Corning Bureau Incident at Coopers Plains BOCES COOPERS PLAINS -- Two school administrators helped a state trooper disarm a man who rammed a rental truck into his estranged wife's van Friday and beat her with a rifle butt after dragging her through a broken windshield. The incident occurred at 9:11 a.m. at the entrance to the Greater Southern Tier BOCES campus on Scott Road near Coopers Plains. State police at Painted Post said Richard D. Lindsay, 48, of Cleveland Avenue in North Hornell, waited near the campus Friday for his estranged wife, Amy Lindsay, an adult cosmetology student at BOCES. Police said Lindsay was heavily armed, and they believe he intended to kill his wife. When Amy Lindsay arrived in her minivan, police said, her husband rammed the rented U-Haul truck into the van several times, until it overturned at the campus entrance. State police spokesman Sgt. James F. McCormack said Lindsay then pulled his wife through the broken windshield of the van and began to hit her with the butt of a rifle. McCormack said two BOCES staff members, Principal Sam Gauss and internship coordinator Scott Poley ran toward the crash, believing it to be an auto accident. Trooper Pat Stickler, the school resource officer at BOCES, also responded. "Gauss tells Stickler that the subject has a gun," McCormack said. "Stickler drew his weapon, and he (Lindsay) continued to beat the woman. Stickler was 15 or 20 feet away when Poley tackled him (Lindsay) from behind and knocked him to the ground." Gauss, Poley and Stickler then wrestled the gun away from him, McCormack said. "Obviously he's a very brave man to have done it," McCormack said of Poley. "If the BOCES personnel didn't take action initially and the trooper hadn't been here, it could have been a terrible tragedy." Gauss and Poley were in talks with BOCES officials late Friday afternoon and were unavailable for interviews about the incident. The attack on Amy Lindsay appeared to be carefully planned. "I would guess so, based on the fact the he rented the truck and waited down the road for her," McCormack said. Tony Micha, BOCES district superintendent, said the presence of Stickler on campus helped avert a more serious outcome. "If we had had to call (police), this would have been totally different," Micha said. "We had a principal and a teacher working in conjunction with the school resource officer that probably made that work for everybody's safety." The Coopers Plains BOCES campus was locked down immediately following the incident. Schools in Addison and Campbell, where both the Lindsays have children enrolled, were locked out as a precaution, McCormack said. In a lockout, school remains in session but security is stepped up significantly. Amy Lindsay, 35, of Steuben Street in Addison, was taken to Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira for treatment of cuts, bruises and a possible broken arm. She was listed in stable condition and was under guard there by troopers. Richard Lindsay was taken to the state police Painted Post barracks at Exit 42 on Interstate 86 and later moved to Corning Hospital, where he was held under guard. He was returned to the police station at about 2:45 p.m. for questioning. McCormack said Lindsay told police he is a heroin addict who was "coming down or tweaking" at the time of the incident. He was charged initially with criminal contempt for violation of an order of protection that had been issued to Amy Lindsay. He is also expected to face additional charges, none of which has been decided upon, said Steuben County District Attorney John C. Tunney. Lindsay was arraigned late Friday afternoon before Campbell Town Justice Vernard Anderson who sent the suspect to the Steuben County Jail without bail. The case likely will be presented to a grand jury, Tunney said. State Police Senior Investigator Curt Eaton said police found a second rifle and a "sizeable amount of ammunition" in the back of the rented truck. "I think he was coming here to kill her and would have killed anyone else he came in contact with," McCormack said. Lindsay already was in trouble with the law when he showed up at the BOCES campus, authorities said. He was scheduled for arraignment in Steuben County Court on Monday on a Feb. 13 indictment charging him with 68 counts of child sexual abuse. He is accused of having sexual contact with children under age 17 from 2000 to 2007. Tunney said Lindsay does have "some criminal history, most of which is not in this county and, for the most part, not particularly recent." A State Police accident reconstruction team using laser work stations was at the scene to determine how the crash occurred. "The vehicles will be kept as evidence," McCormack said. Trooper Kelly Mietlicka, another officer at the scene, said it appeared a tragedy had been averted on the BOCES campus. "Things could have been a lot worse," she said. "Thank God it turned out the way it did."

OMG only in the county where I live could this happen
lol Masked man botches bank robbery March 13, 2008 LIBERTY, Pa. -- A shotgun-wielding man wearing an orange ski mask was arrested today after police said he tried to rob a bank that had already closed for the afternoon. Christopher Allen Koch, 28, of Mountain Top Road, Liberty, arrived at Citizens & Northern Bank, along Main Street in Liberty around 11:40 a.m. and sat inside his car in the bank's parking lot for approximately 20 minutes, police said. Apparently, Koch did not read the hours posted on the bank's door. The bank closed at noon, according to the Citizens & Northern Bank Web site. Police said he attempted to enter the bank at 12:01 p.m. -- a minute too late. Guess Koch didn't see the employees inside, either. They got a license plate number so police could track him. The vehicle was located at Koch's Mountain Top Road residence, along with the gun used in the attempt, the ski mask and gloves, police said. Koch was charged with criminal attempted robbery and possessing instruments of a crime. He has not been arraigned yet, police said.

The General thread is a disaster!
Matt nailed the reason we don't have a Welcome Forum. I have watched several forums over the years that have welcome sections. At first they are great and plenty of members come to welcome the new guys but in a very short amount of time the mods become the only ones who welcome them. The way we do it here is the best way. It helps all the new members who introduce themselves feel welcome and part of the family. It is the reason we retain so many great members for so long. First impressions are big and there is no better way to have a good one than to make someone feel welcome in our big family. As for the moved topics. This is how we educate the new members as to how things work. Sending them a PM is a good idea but most of them don't know how to check it when they are new and a PM is more work for us. If you don't like reading between the moved stuff just go to the third page and they won't be there. I have been deleting them from the third page on for over a year now. No offence by any means but it works like a charm on NYbass PS...thanks for all the great stuff from the weekend...think I will step outta this thread...Unabasser back in the corner
