Kayak fishing on the Potomac
I have only recently started going out in my kayak but Rileys Lock has a boat ramp and I launch out of there on most days. Can't speak for how good the fishing is on the main river in that area as I have mostly stuck to the creek and the areas around the mouth while I get used to the kayak.

Maryland's Who's who!
Haven't posted much at all this summer but the fishing has been great. Stuck these two 3lbers within 15 minutes of arriving at the pond yesterday evening and went on to catch 8 more between 1-2lbs all on the shallow crank.

What's everyone's Striper Setup?
This fall I used my 7 ft MHF Crowder rod with a 4000 Penn Conflict with 20lb braid for the schoolies. Had great results with just a 3/4 and 1oz Kastmaster spoon and smaller bucktails as well. Trolling wise mostly Senators or smaller penn levelwinds with 50lb mono with either tandem bucktails, umbrella rigs later in the fall/winter and surgical tubes earlier in the fall.

shoreline fishing Maryland
Bunnie Lab I have caught a couple of smallmouth around the bridge at Rileys Locke as well if you don't want to worry about wading. Could be hit or miss though as I have only fished it a couple of times

Any Fly Fishermen On Here?
Just went fly fishing for the first time a couple of weeks ago and after landing two pretty rainbows I am hooked. Went out and bought a entry level set up and have been doing as much reading and research as I can. Went by Big hunting creek up past frederick MD today and while I didn't catch anything I did get a better idea of the creek and also saw a number of trout so thats a win in my book.

Maryland's Who's who!
With my new job starting monday I have been trying to get out everyday and here is the results from today's outing another smallmouth that was just a hair over 1.5lbs according to the scale. These fish are such a blast the way he hit reminded me of spanish mackerel or blue fish slamming lures from the beach. Going out for some Stripers saturday morning so hopefully I'll have some pictures from the trip to share.

Maryland's Who's who!
Fished the C&O today for a couple of hours and managed to catch my 2nd ever small mouth and my new PB. This one definitely lived up to their reputation of being great fighters and along with the great weather made for a good outing.

Obx Surf Fishing
Gulp worked great for me catching flounder while I lived in Wilmington NC and works great on other species as well. If you get the tubs make sure to not remove the plastic seal and just cut a small slit in the middle. I've found it helps keep it from leaking but like tomustang said they usually leak regardless of what you do. When fishing with cut or live bait I usually just used a fishfinder rig with either a live mullet or chunks or strips of mullet, spot etc.

Maryland's Who's who!
Got out for an hour today and managed one on a squarebill and had another one on a lipless that dropped off. Been focused on the Stripers in the bay recently but it felt good to get some largemouth action

Freshwater Guy Going After Striper...help.
Sounds like a good time even those little guys can put up a great fight with the right gear. I am hoping to get out on the boat sometime this weekend and do a mix of trolling and casting into the schools if they are around

Dropped My Rod And Reel...
Lost a St croix mojo inshore with a battle 3000 to a fish when I lived in Wilmington NC while me and buddies were all excited that he just snagged a custom rod with Stradic fj 4000 that must not have been under for more then a day. Almost like the fish gods were mad with our find so they took my rig as payment. Spent an hour trying to search for it and snag it with all sorts of lures. Managed to snag it 4 days later while jigging for flounder the rod just needed a quick cleaning and I still use it to this day with an little extra "mojo" in it. The reel wasn't in horrible shape considering it just sat in saltwater for 4 days. Gave it a cleaning but still need to put it back together to really see how it feels. I would definitely try to snag it and if its not salvagable you will have a great story to tell.

Freshwater Guy Going After Striper...help.
Been using Acme Kastmaster spoons on the schools that have been roaming around south of the bay bridge with great success though most are smaller then the 20 inches required to keep one in MD. Caught a healthy 30 incher on Saturday after 20-30 mins of trolling for the first time this fall so there is definitely some good fish around. I have always been a fan of using a bucktail as well. Good luck and most importantly have fun and post some pictures.

Lefty Or Righty?
RIght handed and grew up fishing only spinning rods with the handled on the left so when I bought my first bait caster I went ahead and got the handle on the left as well. No regrets for me

Maryland's Who's who!
After moving back to MD at the end of sept after spending some years in VA beach and NC I decided to get into bass fishing at the recommendation of my roommate from college. Let me tell you I am having just as much fun as I did fishing saltwater. Most of these fish were all caught at the same pond near my house My own PB which from the looks of it is below avg for a normal day with some of you guys haha These 2 were caught during all the rain from the nor'easter we had recently And this little guy was my first bass I have ever caught on anything other then a t-rigged worm. He was def punching above his weight lol Glad to see there are a lot of great bass fisherman around MD and from the looks of some really healthy fish.

Giving Out Your Honey Holes
Had a spot where we used to slam flounder while I lived in NC that luckily was a local establishment and only knew 4 people including myself (2 of the others were my friends who introduced me to the people who worked there) that could fish it. Can't say this is a secret spot but when I moved back to MD recently and got into bass fishing I decided to hit this pond right by my old work that I have never seen people fish except for one old guy years ago. Within the first couple of days caught multiple fish close to 3lbs with one that was over 3 (PB as well for me). This week everyday people have been asking if I catch stuff there and its kinda hard to lie a bit when you get slammed mid conversation haha. Either way its a public place so not much I can do if people decide to fish it hopefully everyone will be respectful and I would love it if everyone did catch and release. When it comes to real honey holes if its a close friend I will definitely tell them as all my friends who fish all know what happens when you start blabbing about a great spot.

New Guy From Md
Hey guys been a long time saltwater only guy and just recently been converted to bass fishing from my old roommate from my college days. Been having a blast hitting all the local ponds and lakes in my area and all the info on Bass resource has been amazing. Just bought my first bait casting setup a couple of days and needless to say its been quite the experience compared to my spinning equipment haha but the challenge keeps me interested. Looking forward to learning even more and having a great time on the water.
