We have a power plant river I fish a lot. But it's not the same as a lake.

Alright.. All lakes are frozen here in MN.. I want to travel out of state to find open water again. Any good places you guys have in mind? If your willing to share.

If the water is stained like you said "root beer water" then use loud and dark colored lures... (Buzz baits, spinner baits, shad raps, and anything else loud and dark colored. The fish should be in the flooded parts I think.

I like jackal shads for drop shots. Hook it though the snout. Just a little wiggle of the rod will do the trick. Good luck ~Dan

Yes. It will effect the fishing. You will notice fish are gonna be in spots they normaly aren't. Like normaly smallmouth like pools with slow current. They might be out the there. But you should still get fish. I'm sure of it.

I use 10 lb mono with a 12 lb seaguar floro leader.

Yes. The avid would work. But I use the st croix permier.

I use Jb's fish sauce crawfish sent. And it works very well. That's that I use.I have a st croix avid and might get another one. But.. I love the rods. Is there a better rod out there for cheaper? I like st croix a lot but there costing me a bit to much.Oh. Alright. There's a few rods with the same around the price that are pretty good as well.Mine was alright. Lots of large and small mouths. Started tournament fishing. Did very well in a few. Out of 10 my year was a 8.
