  1. Do you guys use the shallow plano's (3601, 3701) for anything other than terminal tackle. Id like to use as many shallow ones as I can, so I can store more in my backpack.
  2. Im interested to see what some of you have amassed throughout your years of fishing. Go!
  3. Rods: st croix Reels: shimano Lures: jigs and frogs! I started fishing in early summer this year, and I remember mid summer when I thought that all the reservoirs had too much grass to fish! Little did I know frogs are perfect for that. I knew frogs existed but I never had much confidence in them. Gonna get a MH St croix and use it for both jigs and frogs. I was tempted to use fluro but id really like to be able to throw a frog on it too so itll be the best all purpose.
  4. So they stay on sale all the way until the 25th? 50% off seaguar fluro are you freaking kidding me!? This is sweet. Is it only tackle/fishing line or do they do rod/reels too?
  5. lol I dont know why I found this so funny
  6. oh dangit it does have a plug. I forgot about that. Infortunates its been below freezing the past week. I dont rhink that theres much if anything inside, but i cant belive I forgot about that
  7. Recently bought a 12' Pelican boat. Not sure what the model is exactly. The person I bought it from just but it on two sawhorses upside down. Were forcasted for snow here in next week up here in northern Idaho, and I wanted to know what I should do. I already have it 3ft off the ground on a few pallets, is there anything else I should do to protect it? Perhaps a tarp? And I dont have any way to get it in a conditioned space. Thanks guys
  8. Does a longer rod aid in pitching distance or accuracy? Im in the market for a good jig rod that would mostly be pitching, with some casting and pretty much no flipping. I know most on here like a rod thats bigger than 7', but honestly too much longer than 7'4" would seem too cumbersome. Im liking the idea of the avid x. I wasnt going to go it since the 7' MH/F didnt seem like it was for jigs/pitching into light to moderate cover, but that may be the ticket, esp since its a pretty versatile rod in the first place
  9. For black friday I picked up 2 of the siebert dredge jig packs in both 3/8th and 1/2. Still have yet to catch a fish on a jig, but then again I havent given it much of a chance. Determined to put them to good use here in the springtime.
  10. I just use a hairband. It works alright
  11. I like the feel of having all 4 fingers in front. I was really stressing about the rarenium 1000s balancing on my 6'10" ML rod but it balances about 2-3 inches above the reel, which is perfect for how I hold it.
  12. Getting ready to pull the plug and get a 7' M/F casting rod. Was debating on getting a MH but its seems most everyone agrees that they are all pretty conservatively rated. Planning on using it as an all purpose rod. Spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, lipless cranks, jigs 1/2 oz or less, and perhaps some soft plastics. Just making sure im not missing anything, any any advice is appreciated. Also if its any use Ill be pairing it with a lews speed spool lfs
  13. Anyone noticed a difference in sensativity between a 1 or 2 piece rod?
  14. Can a large body of water be effectivly fished from shore? Ive only fished small reservoirs (less than 100 acres), but I do have some larger bodies of water that Im curious to fish. I understand the advantage of fishing smaller waters, such as the fact that the fish can only be ao far, unlike a large lake where they may be 20 miles down. Thoughts?
  15. I was torn between a 1000 and a 2500 for a ML rod. Id find a thread where it seemed like everyone had 1000 size reels and the next thread would say the other. Ended up going with a 1000 size reel, which is en route. If I hate it too bad Ill probably just return it. Btw, JapanLureShop might have the best prices but holy crap, 0/10 for customer service
  16. Can the same tactics apply to a smaller reservoir? Obviously at a much smaller scale, but can the same be said about deeper water towards the dam, and getting shallower until the inlet? The main waters Ive been fishing are less than 20 acres in size. Any good links/articles/or even books that focus on small reservoirs? Im reading KVDs Bass Strategies at the moment which has helped alot, but most of the focus is on large reservoirs/natural lakes.
  17. How good are the rod/reel sales on black friday typically?
  18. To make it more simple, lets day that electroics are not in the situation and that youre both in jon boats. Kvd only get a super cheap spincaster, and you get to use all of your arsenal of rods. And no restrictions on baits
  19. Just gonna go with a 1000 reel. A 6 oz reel plus a 3.3 oz rod is going to feel really light anyway. Even if it doesent balance perfectly (which i understand is not going to happen)
  20. I really hope youre wrong haha, I literally just bought that rod in a ml spinning
  21. didnt the SMB record just get broken there?Edit: nvn, shouldve read the thread haha
  22. I have a 6'10" ML/XF fenwick elite tech spinning rod, and was pretty much decided on a shimano rareneium ci4+ 1000s, but im starting to wonder if that light of a reel might not balance well on a 6'10" rod. I did quite a bit of reading on this site regarding reel sizes and thought that the 1000 was going to be perfect but should I maybe scale up to a 2000s for a better balance?
  23. how does fishing in a powerplant compare to a reservior or natural lake?
