What would be best in this situation?
Got it !! I decided to put tension on the hook and then cut straight down the hook through the skin until it came free. Doesn't hurt too much.

What would be best in this situation?
Yeah I've got a sharp knife but it's a bad angle.Trying to cut the hook in half but my old bolt cutters aren't doing the job.

What would be best in this situation?
Well been a few years, but now I've done it again. It doesn't look too deep, but it's not budging. Not going to emergency room. Help ? Think I'm just going to get a pliers and do what I do on the fish.

Best hot dog and burger in America?
Probably the best eat-out hamburger I've ever had is from a local ( jax ) joint called Charlie's diner. It's huge .The one I get is the bacon burger which is fresh ground and mixed up with bacon ( not just bacon on top ) Charlie's is owned by Peter Thliverous ( known as Peter T.),who is a well known bass pro. I'm sure Lonnie g. Would agree. You can get the burger with tater tots and a good ole glass of sweet tea.But it fills me up for hours afterwards. Another one in the running is the bison burger from Ted's Montana grill.I get mine with cheddar cheese, grilled onions, and bacon. It is absolutely delicious.( For 15.00 a pop it better be !) As for hot dogs, home grilled for me,usually ball park.

Help...post morning bite blues
This often happens to me as well. If it's a bright, sunny day I start skipping under docks and it usually produces well.I have also done well slowly fishing deeper holes with a variety of baits.I caught several fish over six pounds one july fishing a deep hole slowly with a 10 inch Mann's jelly worm. Sometimes it's also a mindset. What I mean is that you get used to the bite slowing down at that time of day so you may start fishing too fast to compensate. Some of my biggest fish have come in the middle of the day. So keep your confidence up,relax and enjoy your time on the water.

Any other asthmatics?
Sometimes I also have to sit with a straight posture and fight for air. I used to think it was brought on by my eating high cholesterol foods because the only thing they could ever find wrong with me is high cholesterol. So I quit eating those foods for years but I still had the shortness of breath.Whats really weird is that I never had it until after I got married!! Taking a baby aspirin seems to help when I have an attack. Not meaning to hijack your thread but just trying to relate.

Any other asthmatics?
I have had shortness of breath for over 25 years. I have had a barrage of tests, including heart tests ( No heart trouble they say.) twice. 4 different doctors. None of them have told me it was asthma, but I have all the symptoms. It seems to be aggravated by stress, but sometimes it just happens. It gets so bad I have to change posture sometimes try to yawn so I can get a deep breath. It's been so bad that my brain gets deleted of oxygen and I feel like someone is holding a vise grip on it.Then I can't come up with simple words I'm trying to say. Doctor put me on blood thinners and that didn't help at all. They've never found what it is ,so I quit going to the dr over it and just live with it.

New to Jacksonville Fl, where can I go freshwater fishing?
Hey Todd, Welcome. To start with, you can fish the urban parks in the Jax. Area. Many of them have ponds/small lakes. Some are managed by the state and are stocked. Just Google Jax. Urban ponds and you should get some info. What part of town do you live in ? I assume you are bank fishing. Saltwater fishing is great too in our area. I started surf fishing when I was 4.That would be a good way to start. I can give you plenty of info. Based on your interest and where you are. Again, welcome to the forums and to the Jax. Area. Mike

Favorite rigs/techniques for numbers
Yum dingers are good.Yamamoto senkos are best. Also the smaller zoom flukes. Also a small spinnerbait.

Mem. Day Fishing?
I went out on the home lake at crack of dawn. Fished until 10:15. Caught 2 on my little spinnerbait, 1 on a ultra vibe speed worm, 1 on a zoom Z- hog, and finished by catching 3 on a speed craw. Had to work hard for these fish.Summer is here in N Fla.!! Going to start night frog fishing ?.

Stuck in a Rut
I have always been kind of one dimensional with soft plastics. And there's always been one soft plastic I used most of the time and I would fish that bait all day. • 1975-80- Mann's jelly worm •. 1980-2001 - Culprit worms • 2001-13 Zoom flukes • 2014-17 - senkos Not saying These were the only baits I fished but used them at least 90% of the time. I have caught more fish progressively down the list with each bait.Whats interesting is that I caught my pb on the Mann's, my 2nd largest on the fluke,3rd largest n the senko, and 4th largest on the culprit. I've caught many fish in the 4-6 pound range on all these.I have decided not to fish with flukes or senkos in my home lake for a year because I'm not catching as many now on them, because the fish have seen them so much.Going back to culprits some this year cause they haven't seen them much in recent years. Just recently began diversifying baits. I've caught more fish on spinnerbaits in the last 6 weeks than I have in all the years before put together! And I'm catching more on frogs than ever ! And I have caught a few on hard jerkbaits this year. So I guess you can teach a middle aged dog new tricks!

Truly bless and Thankful
Looking forward to more fishing with my middle son. A sorry thief stole our motor so we've not gone much since then. He's saving up to get a newer boat also. We do more salt than fresh together because he'd rather do that but once and a while I'll get him out bass fishing. It is really a blessing, esp. since we both are learning to swallow our pride and give in to each other.?There were times though.....?

Most painful thing that happened on the water?
Could write a book on this subject. But the one most painful thing was getting a 5/0 hook in my right eye.I would rather not tell the story again.Anything else( catfish barbs, bee stings, hooks in other areas ) pales in comparison. The run in with an oyster bed was the runner up though....?

Disabilities
My biggest problem on here with spelling is with this dang spellcheck. It takes the word I want and " corrects " it to what it thinks would be best. Like turning senko into senior. I also have a bad right eye,and don't see well at night, although much better with strong contacts.I like night fishing, but by about 9 o'clock my contacts start acting up.I can take them out but then can't see good ,and you feel kind of goofy..My right wrist and thumb hurt a lot due to an accident involving an oak tree and a drunk driving friend when I was 19.( And all the fishing keeps it aggravated) My back kills me if I stay out too long in my Jon boat which doesn't have seats with a back. But other than that I m still good to go. I hope things go well with you. Thanks for your service.

Pond in my backyard.
There's a pond I've fished that's full of big carp.I would chum them with bread balls and while I waited for the carp I would catch bream. I caught one carp that was 32 inches out of there with a big bread ball.My grandson hooked one and the drag was tightened down too far and it broke 25 pound test !! The ones in my lake Are over 30 pounds, maybe pushing 40. I snagged one 2 -3 years ago that weighed 23. But my carp seem to have no interest in anything but grass.

Cheap boat
I wouldn't recommend old fiberglass boats. A " friend " sold me an older v- hull 14 ft fiberglass boat for 400.00 including the raggedy old trailer. W e were planning to use it for inshore fishing. It didn't have a working motor for it at the time so it sat there for awhile. Not having a motor for it was a blessing in disguise - one day the kids were playing baseball and the ball hit the transom and put a hole in it. Turns out the transom was weak.I think anything over 25 horse would have broken it off and we might have lost everything, including our lives. I know a guy who has a nice Carolina skiff sitting in his yard who can't use it because it's waterlogged.

Question to all bass fisherman/women
I knew nothing about bass fishing.I was catching a few bream and saw a longer fish swim by and I wanted to catch it. That " it " was a bass. 42 years later, I still want to. A friend taught me the basics, although my dad didn't bass fish,he taught me a lot about fishing in general. If I had to choose one kind of fishing and not do the others anymore,Id choose bass. And I live near some great saltwater fishing!
