  1. Favorite lake picture? Here's mine. Here's another.
  2. If you could fish with any famous bass fisherman for a day,who would it be and why?
  3. I love playing "swamp music" when I head out to fish!
  4. Get down in the cypress trees in the st johns river and you'll see aplenty of them.I was fishing near Welaka one day with 2 friends that were brothers that I grew up with.Big brother in the front, little brother in the back, and me in the middle. We kept seeing moccasins in the trees and knocking em out withe the paddle. So it was on our minds a little.Big brother is an outdoorsman from day 1.Little brother is the same.So little bro. says to me " watch this".He Ties a big plastic worm to his line and sneaks up on the seat by me.Then he plops the wet worm on big bro's neck.As Charlie Daniels sang in one of his songs"He let out a yell that would curl your hair"As he was about to abandon ship he heard little bro. laughing and his look of total fear turned to one of total anger.I was just barely able to keep big bro from hurting little bro. I can still see this in my mind even though it happened 30 years ago.
  5. I play some bluegrass on the phone occasionally. I'm sure it doesn't effect the fishing but it puts me in good mood! Now I don't clog in the boat or anything.I usually listen to part or all of one playlist then I turn it off.
  6. I caught my pb on a Mann's jelly worm( grape color). This year I plan to use one to catch a new pb. I caught the most fish last year on 4 inch yamasenkos. For the previous 8 years it was zoom super flukes.
  7. I release most of the bass I catch nowadays but especially anything over 3.My dad would not understand.
  8. I kind of see your point if the fish is kept. But if the fish is released I dont agree. The mortality rate is no different with live bait as opposed to artificials.Back when bass fishing got popular nobody I knew practiced catch and release because we felt like that if we spent all the time and money that we ought to keep the fish. You almost felt guilty NOT keeping them.My dad taught me to keep whatever was edible .We meat fished and had fun doing it.It put supplemental meat on our table.I think it would have been a sustainable resource in the south( always had been ) but so many people came down here bass were not as easy to catch due to low numbers.Anyway,we eventually got on board with catch and release( for most bass anyway) but who should judge what someone else does with the fish THEY catch.Or HOW they catch it.
  9. I never fish flukes with weight. To me it then sinks too fast and ruins the action. And bass annialate flukes without weights. And you can cast them along way w/o weight.
  10. I actually caught a suwanee bass on the sante fe river. It looked a lot like my idea of what a smallmouth looks like.It was kind of brown and wieghed around 2 pounds. It fought like a 4 pound lm.They are a distinct sub specie of a largemouth I think.?
  11. Can't give you advice but I will pray for you!
  12. I tried to send you a note straight to your personal account. If you didn't get it let me know.
  13. I am a Floridian, born and raised.I have largemouth fished for 40 + years.I have never caught a small mouth .Starting to get interested in them. What's the closest good smallmouth lake to Florida?
  14. That is beautiful.Got some kin from southern wv and sw va.
  15. This is my home lake
  16. I personally do much better with frogs in the summer when bullfrogs are out.It almost seems like the bass know a frog shouldn't be out in the cooler months and don't seem to bite them very good then.In the summer, the bullfrogs start croaking near dusk and they'll be in different groups all over the lake.I just go from one group to another and fish with a Zoom z- hog, gambler cane toad or Zoom horny toad and the bass will be there waiting to pick off the frogs. Its a great summer pattern.
  17. I fish live bait and lures in the small lake I live on and don't see that at all.Sometimes they get used to the same lures so I use multiple artificials, and try new things constantly,so they don't get used to anything.
  18. Never had much trouble backing a trailer until I had to back a trailer using mirrors only.As long as I can turn and look I do fine but 1 boat ramp had a steep angle and it was a friends truck and boat.I couldn't see where the trailer was so I tried using the mirror and found that I must be somewhat dislexic.
  19. I live in the jax area . Because of my schedule I can't get very far away from home but if you're ever up this way let me know.I mainly fish small lakes but I know the river and creeks pretty good also.
