  1. They need to go back up north where they belong.Kind of like snowbirds......
  2. They don't come up on my property .They stay out pretty far in the lake so I don't think the coyote would help unless I put him on a remote control boat and ran him around. That's what the Goosinater is based on.Maybe an air horn will scare them off I don't know.I've got some 22 silents I'm considering.....
  3. Mine is the 16 acre lake I live on.I have fished it for 41 years now.It has the best bass fishing of any lake I've ever fished. It was good in the 70s and has been consistent all these years. Also has good catfish and bream fishing. It couldn't be more convenient. My Jon boat is 30 feet from my back door.My kids caught their first bass here. And 5 of 6 grandkids have caught their first bass here.Caught my PB here.Bass, bream and catfish.Have had many opportunities for fellowship while fishing. Not bragging- just blessed.
  4. Probably all the people watering their lawns. It depletes the aquifer. But maybe its not as bad as it looks.
  5. Yeah please see what you can find out.It would be great to get on it again. The last time I fished it was around 10 years ago I think.A Jon boat MIGHT be drug down to the lake possible on the N side behind the campground. But it might be hard to get out to fishable water from there.
  6. I saw MLF for the first time the other day and liked it.Kept rooting for the last guy to get a fish that hadn't caught one yet.Didn't care for the attitude of a couple of them. But the show reminded me of the years I fished tournaments. For the most part the lakes I thought I knew the best I ended up doing the worst on.And the lakes I knew less,I did better on . Go figure.
  7. Thanks for the help.I like that last one × 10!
  8. I like that last one × 10!
  9. Heard this before .Another song of theirs I can relate too. Thanks for sharing the story behind it too
  10. I live on a small lake.We have lots of dang geese here. They wake me up with their incessant honking all hours of the night. They don't ever seem to sleep. They fly over the house and poop everywhere and in the lake, which I'm sure fertilizes our hard to control lake vegetation.I hear they're illegal to shoot, and the neighbors would probably freak out so that's not an option. We also have a nutria problem but I trap them constantly.Any ideas?
  11. Yes!I'm starting to feel that pull of spring .This year I've got a couple of spots picked out to target. One has some fish over 10 pounds that's only 2.5 miles away.Another is about 6 miles and looks good.I also want to get out to some backwoods lakes in the Ocala forest.I hope to have some memorable trips to share with friends and family and try some new baits this year.Another goal is to set a new pb. And to mentor whoever I can,not just in fishing but in life.
  12. My prayers go out to this family. All I can say is that the killer will reap what he sowed.
  13. No snow/ice here.I think there were some flurries about 15 miles from here.but it was around 37 here at 430 yesterday with 20 mph winds. So no fishing.Wanted to go squirrel hunting but knew I wouldn't see any so I stayed home, built a fire and cut some wood.It got down to 27 here last night.
  14. Believe it or not,9 of my top ten were caught on artificials.MY PB was caught on a manns jelly worm.I do catch a much bigger AVERAGE with live bait though.
  15. I agree. You all have good points for it.Not sure really why it would be looked down on because it takes more work to get the bait and keep it alive.I lure fish because its easier to throw a trip together on short notice which is often all the time I have. But I live bait fish often because IT WORKS.My son and me do fresh and salt.In saltwater we almost exclusively do live(or dead ) bait.We have a great bait hole that's in the area we fish.We eat a lot of fish, esp.saltwater, and I eat a lot of bream and catfish out of the lake.I make every effort to save injured bass .Although my dad could never understand catch and release. He grew up hard in the southern Appalachians and his idea of catch and release was catch it and release it into your ice box.
  16. Hey do y'all fish live bait?It seems like there isnt much discussion on this.Is it looked down on or what?To me,if it isn't against the law or unethical I do it if it works. What think ye?
  17. I need to try other methods more.I've always done well with t-rigging soft plastics and I'm too content with that. That and a live bait method I find very effective.I probably won't get into anything that runs deep or has multiple hooks because I almost exclusively fish shallow, weedy lakes.I try top water occasionally but just don't seem to catch much with repalas ,devils horses etc.In the summer I do well fishing senkos by reeling them along the surface.Overall,I just need more versatility.Kind of got an interest in trying spinnerbaits again although I've never caught much with them.
  18. We also had what I call a "zone" tournament. You have several zones sectioned off in the lake and each angler draws and whatever zone they get they fish for an hour, then they all switch and fish different zones in the lake until the next hour and so on until all the anglers fish all the zones(time permitting)
  19. I was bream fishing in a lake one day and found a big bed .So I tied up to a fence that extended a few feet out into the water. An older woman came down to the water and ordered me to untie from the fence because I was "hurting her fence" I told her politely that I wasn't hurting the fence and kept fishing. Then she said she would go get her husband.I said alright then, and kept on fishing.I guess her husband wasn't having it,because she came back without him and threatened to call the police.I said OK_,and kept fishing. The next time she came back she said she would make me leave so she began rolling up her pant legs.I'm still fishing...So she wades out and kicks my boat.I thought for a moment, put down my pole, picked up my paddle and....wait for it...splashed her.She retreated and went back to the house, no doubt to get sympathy from the husband.I kept fishing...True story.Caught 12 big bream off the bed.Not saying I would do that now but hey,I was only 17 then.No wonder some kids have authority issues ...Just sayin....
  20. We had a length tournament one time.Total length of all fish caught any size.
  21. I don't fish at night much, but when I do I use black frogs in the summer and big black worms the rest of the year.
  22. That's cool. Thanks for sharing it.The national forest site says its still open.It mentioned a boat ramp and tent camping.I'm going to make it a goal to get down there this year at least once.My motors broke down so I can hopefully fix it soon.
  23. Best explanation I've heard of this.I was just reading some articles on it recently. You've probably heard about Jo Jo billingsly's dream about the plane crashing and she tried to warn them. And how she didn't have peace about meeting them in Greenville even though Ronnie had asked her to join them there. It was like God was warning her.One of my favorite songs by them is Swamp music.Usually It makes me feel good but every now and then it reminds me of them crashing into a swamp and makes me sad and angry but its hard to be angry at dead men for what happened. Some things won't be understood this side of eternity.
  24. Yeah we used to fish that west side of the lake a lot and the canals on the east side.It seemed like every time I went there the wind would always be so bad we would end up in the canals to escape it.I wonder if it's still open to the public.I heard that Carl passed away.
